Chapter 1189 - Grandma Li Failed in Her Mission

Grandma Li was unreasonable. If Li Qingcang went back to Lang Garden with Ye Tianxin, she would’ve vented her frustrations to Li Qingcang’s mother.

Wu Tong was kindhearted and always treated Ye Tianxin very well. Ye Tianxin could not bear to let Wu Tong bear the brunt of Grandma Li’s wrath because of them.

Besides, Ye Tianxin could always argue with Grandma Li if she made things difficult for her. It would’ve been wrong for Wu Tong or Li Qingcang to do so as she was their senior in the family.

“I don’t want you to be put in a difficult position.”

“Qingcang, I know I’ll be all right as long as you’re around. I won’t be put in a difficult position.” Ye Tianxin looked at Li Qingcang intently.

She would never be put in a difficult situation. Ye Tianxin was not one to be intimidated.

When they arrived at the Li residence, Li Qingcang saw that his Aunt Li was home too. She had been working in another city.

“Grandma, Aunt Li.” Both of them greeted their elders.

Grandma Li snorted when she saw Ye Tianxin.

“Qingcang, this is a family dinner. Why did you bring an outsider along?”

Aunt Li coughed softly. “Qingcang, Tianxin, don’t listen to Mom. Take a seat.”

Aunt Li was the second in command of a province. She was always busy with work, so she was hardly at home. It was rare for her to come back for dinner with the family.

“Tianxin, this is Aunt Li.”

“Hello, Aunt Li.” Tianxin greeted her politely.

Aunt Li was curious when she saw Ye Tianxin. She looked like a very nice girl. She did not understand why Grandma Li did not like her and was always finding fault with her.

Aunt Li pondered for a while and finally thought of a reason.

Grandma Li also objected to Li Hang marrying Wu Tong, who was an aspiring engineer, before. She was very busy with her work and rarely had the time to meet Li Hang.

Grandma Li was a very traditional woman. She thought instead of working, women should stay at home, have children and take care of the family.

Besides, Grandma Li did not have much education herself. She was less educated when compared to Wu Tong. She felt inferior to Wu Tong and felt that her position in the family might be threatened by her outstanding daughter-in-law.

Grandma Li did not manage to stop Li Hang from marrying Wu Tong. Now she was probably making things difficult for Ye Tianxin for the same reason.

Aunt Li felt that Grandma Li became more eccentric as she got older.

“Hello, Tianxin.”

Aunt Li looked at Li Qingcang. “Qingcang, can I talk to you for a minute?”

“What’s the matter, Aunt Li? Why can’t we talk with her?”

“It’ll only take 5 minutes at most.”

“Qingcang, go ahead. I’ll be fine.” Ye Tianxin assured Li Qingcang that she could take care of herself so he wouldn’t worry.

Both Aunt Li and Li Qingcang went out to the garden.

“Aunt Li, if you are trying to speak up for Grandma, don’t waste your breath. I won’t break up with Tianxin. I won’t let anyone else decide for my life and my marriage.”

Aunt Li looked at Qingcang’s handsome face. He had inherited his father’s steadfastness and stubbornness.

“Qingcang, I’m not asking you to break up with Tianxin. I have a proposal. Why don’t you hear me out and consider my plan?”

Li Qingcang was silent.

“Your grandmother is getting old. To put it bluntly, she may not have many more years to live. I’m thinking that since Tianxin is still under-aged, you won’t be able to marry her anytime soon anyway. Why don’t we lie to your grandmother that you and Tianxin have broken up? You’ll still be together. We can get someone to pose as your fiancee...”
