“What? What do you mean it’s not around anymore?”

“After you left for overseas, I thought that since the house was rent out for so little money, I sold it and invested in a company. I suffered a loss in the end. I was just about to tell you.”

Ying Yimei felt crushed.

The house was not theirs now.

Where else could she find the money to pay back the Li family?

Ying Yimei asked her mother in dismay, “What shall we do now?”

Mrs. Ying hesitated. “There is still a way out. If someone is willing to invest in our company, we can still turn it around. I have been trying to find an investor but it’s not easy to look for a suitable one.”

“Mom, why did you do this? You’ve never cared much about me the past few years. I don’t need you to support me financially. What have you been spending your money on?” Ying Yimei felt that it was a hopeless situation. “I have said earlier that the house was our only backup.”

Mrs. Ying tried to defend herself. “I was just trying to make ourselves look more presentable. My job pays so little. Once I have enough, you would be able to marry well...”

“They want us to move out.”

“We can rent a house for the time being. Once I find an investment company, we’ll be alright. Didn’t you graduate from abroad? Surely you have some rich friends who can help us, right?”
