Confined inside the tiny space inside the elevator, all Li Qingcang could hear was the violent pounding of his own heart.

After some hesitation, he awkwardly released Ye Tianxin’s wrist and held up his other hand to show her the takeout that he’d been holding.

“Someone sent me this supper, and I wanted to give it to you and your grandmother.... It’s congee from a traditional shop that’s been in business for a long time. It’s really very tasty.”

Ye Tianxin stood to one side. From her height, she could clearly see Li Qingcang’s side profile.
