The White Wolf Series Book 4 â CHAPTER NINE â He Isnât His Father
(Emmaâs POV)
I was in complete shock.
Alpha Nathanâs son was my daughterâs mate?! Was the Goddess messing with us?
âWhere is he taking her?!â Alpha Hunter screamed, trying to get out of Loganâs hold. âShe is mine! Bring her back!â
Logan growled.
I looked around and saw our numerous guests staring at us. I smiled at them and grabbed my mateâs arm.
Take him to the kitchen. I mind-linked him. We canât do this here.
Logan glanced around us and growled quietly. He started pulling Alpha Hunter away.
âWhat the f*uck are you doing?!â Alpha Hunter growled. âLet me go to her!â
My heart skipped a beat. There had to be a misunderstanding.
Mom? My daughter mind-linked me. What is going on?
Donât worry, honey. I said, trying to sound as calm as possible. I will talk to your dad. He is just surprised, thatâs all.
But why? She asked and I could hear the desperation in her voice. Who is
he, mom?
My heart broke for my little girl. She didnât deserve this.
He is Alpha Hunter. I said. He is Alpha Nathanâs son.
She didnât mind-link me back and I focused on my mate and Alpha Hunter.
We were already in the kitchen.
Logan let go of Alpha Hunter and growled.
âAlpha Logan, I will fight you to get to her,â Alpha Hunter growled. âShe is mine. You canât forbid me to see her. You canât take her from me. Why would you even do that?â
Alpha Hunter was shaking. I could tell that he was holding back from attacking my mate.
Logan took a step closer to him, but I grabbed his arm and stopped him. âDo you know who she is, Alpha Hunter?â I asked, making him look at me. âDoes it matter?â Alpha Hunter growled. âShe is my mate. I donât care who she is. I donât care about her position in the pack.â
I took a deep breath and tightened my hand around Loganâs arm.
My mate was shaking. I could feel the anger radiating off him.
âShe is our daughter, Alpha Hunter,â I said, trying to stop my voice from trembling.
Alpha Hunterâs eyes widened. He looked from me to Logan. I could see his b*dy tense up even more, but he took a small step back. He looked back at me and I could see the fear in his eyes.
âYour daughter?â he mumbled quietly.
âYes,â I nodded.
Alpha Hunter closed his eyes and tightened his jaw.
âI donât care about the past,â he said. âShe is mine.â
âWell, I f*ucking care!â Logan exclaimed angrily. âI am not letting my daughter be with a man whose father almost destroyed my family!â
Alpha Hunter opened his eyes abruptly. He growled and took a step closer to us.
âMy dad made a mistake,â Alpha Hunter said angrily. âHe was cursed. He would never hurt anyone. He is a good man.â
Logan growled loudly. âA good man?! He tried to kill a pregnant woman!â âLogan,â I called him, pulling him closer to me. âStop.â
He looked at me angrily. âDonât tell me that you are okay with this!â
I looked at Alpha Hunter and took a deep breath. I wasnât okay with it, but the Goddess had to have a reason for creating a mate bond between them. âI am not okay with it, but we canât blame Alpha Hunter for his fatherâs mistakes,â I said, looking back at my mate. âHe isnât his father.â
Logan narrowed his eyes and tightened his jaw.
âEmmaâ¦,â he spoke sternly, but I interrupted him.
âWe canât separate them,â I said softly. âIt wouldnât be okay. We need to let them decide. We need to let Sophia decide.â
Logan studied my face for a second before he closed his eyes and sighed. His b*dy relaxed a little.
Remember everything we taught our kids about mates. I mind-linked him. We canât go against it, Logan. It wouldnât be fair.
Both Logan and I decided that we would teach our kids about the value of the mate bond. We always told them that a mate bond was a gift from the Goddess which should be protected and cherished. Logan was the one who insisted on us doing so. He wanted to correct his own mistake.
Logan opened his eyes and looked at Hunter.
âI am against this,â Logan said quietly. âMy daughter shouldnât have been mated to you. But my Luna is right. I will let her decide.â
Alpha Hunter clenched his fists. I could see anger flash in his eyes.
I leaned in and placed a small k*iss on Loganâs c*hest. I was so proud of him. I could feel his anger and pain. I could feel his fear. I had the same emotions he did. I was angry. I was scared. I was in pain. I knew how hard it was for him to put aside those emotions. I knew how hard it was for him to say those words.
âI am not going to hurt her,â Alpha Hunter said angrily. âShe is my mate. My father taught me to cherish the Goddessâ gift and thatâs what I will do.â
I glanced at Logan. He wasnât convinced.
âI need to see her,â Alpha Hunter said and I could hear the pain in his voice. âWait here for a second,â I told him as I pulled Logan toward the other room.
I needed to calm him down a little before we took Alpha Hunter to see Sophie.
As soon as the door closed behind us, Logan pulled me to him and k*issed me. I tangled my f*ingers into his hair and k*issed him back.
âWhy her?â Logan mumbled as he leaned his forehead on mine.
âI donât know,â I sighed as I caressed his cheek. âThe Goddess had to have a reason.â
Logan sighed and lifted his head. He placed another small k*iss on my l*ips. âI love you,â he mumbled.
âI know,â I said, smiling back at him. âLetâs get this over with.â
Logan grunted and took my hand in his. We walked back to the kitchen.
âWe will let you meet our daughter, Alpha Hunter,â Logan said. âOne wrong move and you are out of my pack.â
Alpha Hunter tightened his jaw and nodded.
I gave him a small smile as I started walking out of the kitchen and pulling Logan behind me.
Where are you? I mind-linked my son.
Dadâs office. He responded immediately. What is going on?
I didnât answer his question. I knew how he would react if he knew that we were bringing Alpha Hunter with us.
