(Hunterâs POV)
âImiss her,â Holden sighed as I took another sip of my beer.
âWe will see her soon,â I told him. âStop whining and focus.â
âItâs hard,â Holden mumbled. âImiss her.â
I rolled my eyes and ignored him. I didnât need him to tell me how much he missed her. I knew that and I needed to focus on something else before I ran back to her.
I looked up at Alexander and Mason. Both of them were sipping their beers and glancing around the diner. Hayden, Danny, and Mike left about half an hour ago. I was a little bit nervous when they left. The conversation was easy when they were here. They asked me about taking over the pack and we talked about video games and sports. It was easy to talk to them and I was glad I got to get to know them a little bit better. Mike was a goofy guy and I knew that we would get along great. Hayden was going to be a great Alpha. He was kind, smart, and calm. Danny was a smart young man who would be a great warrior one day.
âWhat did Soph decide?â Mason asked, breaking the silence. âWill she try to transfer the magic to you?â
I looked up at Alexander. He sighed and rolled his eyes.
âNo,â he mumbled. âShe said that she doesnât want to put me in danger. She is stubborn.â
I wasnât happy with her decision. I wanted her to share it with someone. I knew that Alexander could handle it. I knew that I could handle it.
âWas she always this stubborn?â I asked, making them look at me.
Mason scoffed. Alexander nodded.
âGood luck, man,â Mason said, smirking at me.
I chuckled and shook my head.
âI understand that she doesnât want to put us in danger,â I sighed and looked down at the bottle in my hand. âI just wish that she would let us help her.â
I heard Alexander sigh.
âShe will let us help,â Alexander said, making me look back up at him. âBut she will find a way to do it without putting us in danger.â
âBut it wonât be as effective,â I said, making Alexander nod.
He took a sip of his beer and glanced at Mason.
I looked at him. His eyebrows were furrowed and he was staring at the table.
âI would never hurt her,â I said quietly, making both Mason and Alexander look at me.
I needed to tell them that. I needed them to know that she meant everything to me. I knew that neither Mason nor Alexander found their mates yet, but they would understand once they did.
She was everything to me. From the moment I saw her, I knew that I had to protect her no matter what. She became a part of my heart and soul instantly. She twisted my whole world around and became the center of it. I couldnât hurt her because it would be like tearing my c*hest apart and ripping my heart out.
I was in love with her from the moment I saw her. I knew it was because of the mate bond, but I also knew that the mate bond wouldnât have anything to do with it soon. I was falling in love with her and I wouldnât even need the mate bond to make me want her. She was beautiful. She was brave,
kind, and loving. She was all I ever wanted.
Masonâs jaw twitched. He looked at the bottle in his hands.
âOur parents raised us to cherish our family and our mates,â Alexander
said. âThey always told us that family is the most important thing. Once you become Sophiaâs family, she will give you her endless trust. Donât break it.â
I gulped and nodded.
âI would never do that,â I said. âI know itâs hard to believe, but I already love her so f*ucking much and it isnât just because of the mate bond. She is amazing and I am lucky to have her.â
âShe is,â Alexander said as a small smile spread across his face.
âI wonder what the Goddess was thinking when she bonded you to Soph,â Mason mumbled, making me narrow my eyes at him.
Alexander jammed his elbow into Masonâs ribs, making Mason look up at me.
âI didnât mean anything bad,â Mason said, his eyes widening. âYou are a cool dude, I like you. But, it is messed up when you think about it. Your dad and her mom almost ended up together. Your dad hurt her family. Itâs just messed up, thatâs all Iâm saying.â
I tightened my jaw. He wasnât wrong, though. It was weird.
âLook, I know that my dad screwed up big time,â I sighed as I took another
sip of my beer. âHe made mistakes, but he was a victim of the curse. He has changed since then. He is an amazing Alpha and a wonderful father.â
âDid he ever talk about revenge?â Alexander asked and I shook my head immediately.
âNo,â I said. âNever. He knows that he screwed up. He knows that he should be thankful that your parents decided to let him go. He doesnât want revenge. He never wanted it.â
Alexander glanced at Mason.
âWe just want Sophia safe,â Mason mumbled as he took a small sip of his beer.
âMy father isnât a threat to her,â I said. âHe would never hurt her.â
Mason looked up at me. I saw his jaw twitch. He gave me a small nod, making me smile at him.
It hurt to know how they felt about my father, but I understood why. My dad did screw up.
âSo, do you have any siblings?â Alexander asked.
I was thankful he changed the subject. I understood their anger toward my father, but it didnât mean that it didnât hurt me.
âI do,â I said, smiling. âI have a brother. His name is Harry and he is annoying as f*uck.â
âOh, tell me about it,â Mason sighed, rolling his eyes and looking at Alexander. âYou have no idea how lucky you are to have a sister.â
Alexander scoffed and shook his head. âYou think that Fia isnât annoying?â
I chuckled. She could never annoy me.
âNot as much as Mike,â Mason mumbled.
âOr Harry,â I added, making them look at me
âHow old is Harry?â Mason asked me.
â16,â I said, smiling. âHe will be 17 soon.â
Alexander sighed and rolled his eyes, making both Mason and I look at him with confused expressions on our faces.
âItâs Fia,â he mumbled. âShe is making sure that Hunter is okay. I donât get her. This is like the hundredth time she mind-linked me. Does she think that we will eat him?â
Mason scoffed.
I grinned widely. It made me so f*ucking happy to know that my mate cared about me. She wanted to make sure that I was okay. My heart swelled so much that my c*hest suddenly felt too tight to hold it.
She loved me as much as I loved her.
