Chapter 67
True Luna by Tessa Lilly
True Luna by Tessa Lilly (Chasing The White Wolf)
The White Wolf Series Book 2 â CHAPTER SIXTY-SEVEN â Mark her?
(Andrew POV)
I felt better after talking to Logan. I meant every word I said. I would kill the f*ucker if he hurt my pup again. There was no f*ucking way I was letting that happen again.
I needed Emma to be safe and happy. She was the most important thing in my world, and if she got hurt, I would burn the f*ucking world down.
A knock on the front door interrupted my thoughts.
Emma started getting up, but I held her down. I needed this. I needed to hold her like I did when she was a child. It calmed me down. It meant that she was safe.
âCome in.â I shouted.
I heard the front door open and footsteps walking toward the kitchen.
Drake came inside and furrowed his eyebrows.
âDid something happen?â he asked, pointing at Emma in my arms.
âNo.â I shook my head. âJust comforting myself.â
âOh.â Drake chuckled as he sat down. âAnd Logan is okay with that?â âLogan knows what I would do to him if he denied me my sister.â I said, glaring at Logan.
He laughed and nodded. âI know how to pick my battles.â
I rolled my eyes and looked at Drake.
âWhat did you want to talk about?â I asked, reaching out for my mug and taking a sip of my coffee.
I ran my hand through Emmaâs hair, and she relaxed even further, leaning her head on my shoulder.
âYou will put me to sleep.â she mumbled, making me chuckle.
It always worked.
âSleep, love.â I said, k*issing her forehead. âI will wake you up later.â
I could tell that she was tired. I didnât know if she slept well after finding out about the Rogue King.
I looked back at Drake, who was watching Emma and me with a small smile on his face.
âDrake?â I called him again. âWhat did you want to talk about?â âYes, sorry.â he said, leaning back on the chair he was sitting on. âI had a conversation with the rogue in the cellars. He said some interesting things.â He air-quoted âconversationâ, giving me and Logan a knowing look.
âWhat did he say?â Logan asked immediately, clenching his fists.
Emma raised her head and looked at Drake. I tightened my arms around her. âWell, he didnât say much, but what he did say was interesting.â Drake said, crossing his arms over his c*hest.
âWill you just tell us?â Logan growled.
âHe said that the White Wolfâs powers will manifest once she is marked.â Drake said, looking at Logan.
âWhat powers?â Logan asked, furrowing his eyebrows. âYou said that she has no magic.â âI guess we donât know s*hit about this.â I sighed angrily.
âI donât think itâs magic.â Drake said, looking at Emma. âI think itâs something else.â
âWhat?â Logan asked, gritting his teeth.
âIâm not sure.â Drake said. âDid you notice something different about yourself, Emma?â
I looked down at her. She bit her l*ip and furrowed her eyebrows. âWell, something happened in the cave.â she mumbled. âBut I probably imagined it.â
âWhat happened?â Drake asked her.
âI was unconscious most of the time.â Emma sighed. âRolf was giving me wolfsbane all the time. He wouldâ¦â
Loganâs loud growl interrupted Emma.
His fists were clenched and his canines flew out. He was shaking, and I could tell he was trying not to shift.
He needed Emma.
âGo to him.â I told her as I reluctantly let her go. âHe wonât be okay with you talking about this if he canât hold you.â
Emma stood up and walked over to Logan. He grabbed her as soon as she was close to him and pulled her onto his lap.
âMine.â he growled, his voice mixed with Leonâs.
He buried his nose in her hair and took a deep breath. I could see his b*dy relaxing immediately.
âItâs okay, Logan.â Emma said softly, rubbing his back. âI am yours.â âYou accepted him?â Drake asked, his eyes widening in surprise.
âOf course she did!â Logan growled. âShe is mine!â
His canines flew out again as he glared at Drake.
Emma placed her hands on Loganâs face and forced him to look away from Drake.
âI am yours, Logan.â she said softly as she placed a small k*iss on his l*ips. âItâs okay. No one will take me away from you.â
Watching her k*iss him was weird. So f*ucking weird. But it was something I was going to have to get used to.
Logan grabbed her and k*issed her. He leaned his forehead on hers and closed his eyes.
âI am sorry.â he mumbled as he took a deep breath. âItâs hard for me to listen to this.â
âItâs okay, Logan.â I said.
âWill it be easier now that you are holding her?â Drake asked. âIf not, maybe we could talk to Emma alone.â
Logan growled again, making Drake raise his hands in surrender.
âIt was just a suggestion.â Drake said defensively. âDonât bite my head off.â
âI will stay right the f*uck here.â Logan growled.
âOkay.â Drake nodded. âCan we continue then?â
Logan nodded, pulling Emma closer to him and k*issing her temple. âWhat happened in the cave, love?â I asked Emma, giving her a small smile.
âAs I said, he was giving me wolfsbane.â Emma said, running her f*ingers through Loganâs hair. âI was asleep most of the time. He would give me another dose of wolfsbane as soon as I woke up.â
Emma stopped talking and glanced at Logan worriedly.
âGo on, baby.â he said. âI am okay.â
âWell, I could hear Eliza while I was there.â Emma said.
My eyes widened. She could hear her wolf even though there was wolfsbane in her b*dy?
Logan and Drake looked as confused as I was.
âWhat do you mean, baby?â Logan asked her.
âI could hear her.â Emma said, looking at him. âI talked to her.â
âHoly f*uck.â Drake mumbled, staring at Emma with his eyes wide open. âBut I must have imagined that.â Emma said, looking at me. âRight?â
Was that even possible? Wolfsbane was poison for werewolves. It could kill us. Was it possible that it didnât have the same effect on her as it did on us? âI donât know, love.â I mumbled. âWhat does Eliza say?â
âI already talked to her about it.â Emma said. âShe said that she talked to me, but I donât know if she remembers correctly. She could have imagined it just like I did.â
âWe could test that theory.â Drake said, looking intently at Emma.
âYou are not giving her wolfsbane!â Logan growled, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her to his c*hest.
I growled at the same time. I completely agreed with Logan. Drake was f*ucking insane if he thought that we would let him do that.
âNot wolfsbane.â Drake sighed. âI was thinking about silver. We could just have her t*ouch something silver and see if she can communicate with Eliza.â
âI wouldnât be able to talk to her if I touched silver.â Emma said, shaking her head. âRolf put silver handcuffs on me when they took me away. I lost Eliza immediately.â
Logan growled when she mentioned Rolf again. I clenched my fists, thinking about Rolf touching her.
âOkay.â Drake nodded. âMaybe you will be able to talk to Eliza even with silver touching your skin once Logan marks you.â
âYou think that I really talked to her?â Emma asked, surprised.
âProbably.â I sighed. âYou are powerful, love. You are a very special wolf. It would make sense if you could do something like that.
Emma looked at me wide-eyed. I gave her a small smile.
âI am proud of you, baby.â Logan mumbled, k*issing her temple.
âThere is another thing I wanted to talk to you about.â Drake said, making the three of us look at him. âShould Logan mark her or not? If he does, she could use her powers against the Rogue King, but if he manages to take her, he could kill her while trying to remove the mark. But if Logan doesnât mark her, she will be weaker.â
I gulped and looked at Emma.
Logan growled, pulling her to him.
Should he mark her or not?
