Chapter 114
Alpha Enzo
Enzo:
âSo, do you want to tell me what youâve been up to?â Matias asked, raising an amused eyebrow at me.
âAs it seems that a lot has been going on while I was in Florence, and you are going to need to start spilling up.â
âYou know that we have so many things to discuss, but firstâ¦â
âIs what I heard true? About Katherine.â He asked, stopping me.
âYou always were like that, even when I was younger.â I said, and he smirked, knowing that I was trying to escape the subject. âYes, it is. Alonso is not my son. He is the rogueâs child. For some reason, she has been raising him in the pack as my own son. The nurses claimed that she was pregnant, even her doctor in the hospital said the same thing. And though my one doubt, even if she was with child, is the fact that the children, claimed to be with pregnant twins, cannot possibly be mine. I wasnât in the country when she is claimed to have been impregnated. And the idea of her cheating on me again is not one that I want to think of. Claiming that she is not with child is something that I prefer hearing.â
âAgain?â He asked, and I shook my head.
âRaising a son that is not my own is cheating, isnât it? Had I raised him while knowing who he is, I would know that he is not mine. It wouldnât change my love for him if it sprouted and if I chose to claim him as a son.â I said, and Matias shook his head, pinching the bridge of his nose.
âI donât want to add salt to the wound, but Enzo, how the hell did you not expect this? I mean, I doubt that she managed to fake your feelings. You t even feel a bond between the two of you and that didnât click something to you?â He asked, making my stomach churn. âDonât get me wrong, but Katerina took advantage of something, and you allowed it.â
âAnd that something is?â I asked, and Matias smiled softly, shaking his head at me.
âThat you know that Alaria was your duty. Katerina was always your sin, secret, and the one thing that you knew that you couldnât have. You wanted her, and she knew that. She took advantage of it becauseâ¦â
âAre you here to tell me what I did wrongâ¦â
âI am here because the boy that I raised a long time ago alongside your father is not as stu pid as the Alpha that is sitting in front of me.â He said, stopping me. âI am aware that you are trying to fix your mistakes, and it happening now is going to be a lot better than it happening when you truly have lost it.
But you need to understand, Enzo, that Alaria is being KIND enough to allow you the chance. She doesnât have to, nothing that she is doing is something that she has to do. And if she is, you should be grateful for it.â
âAnd I amâ¦â
âNot enough,â he said, looking me dead in the eye. âput yourself in her shoes. Would willing to do what she is doing for you? The same way that she is doing it for you?â
you be âYou really are rubbing the wound with salt.â I said, and he laughed, shaking his head at me.
âI donât intend to do so. But considering that someone has to, I will be the one to do so. The woman doesnât deserve anything that you did to her. She was kind enough to take it, and she was kind enough to be willing to give you a chance to even look at you. But I donât want you thinking that it is something that everyone would do. Had it been your own mother, she would have had you slau ghtered in a second. Trust me, I would know.â He said, and I chuckled, knowing that he was right. Mom wasnât the type to accept this kind of thing.
âAnyhow, I didnât come here to remind you to be a man. You know more than anyone that you should be one, especially to the woman who has-treated you with the respect that no one showed to you.â He said, and I took a deep breath. âNow for Florence, there is a lot that you are going to need to hear.â
âLet me guess, are you going to tell me about Marco?â I asked, and he smirked.
âYour spies work well.â
âNot really my spies. The idiot had himself exposed as a drunk. The cops caught him for trying to get to the secret auction under the Da Vinci art gallery. The idiot nearly got himself and the others who were there to attend the auction caughtâ¦â
âThat is not the only thing that heâs done, Alpha.â He said, making me frown.
âTell me?â I asked, and he looked away from me.
âDo you remember the cult of the wolves? It was a rumor that started a long time ago. Those who believed in wolves tended to join one cult, and one day after the other, they found themselves unifying with wolves a long time ago. Somehow, Marco managed to start the cult again, and that is something that is angering the elders.â He said, and I pinched the bridge of my nose. âSome initially thought that it was one of his drunken acts. They went to see him âshiftâ on the full moon as a joke. The one thing that they didnât count for was that MANY shifted. He ended up killing those who were human. They were found slau ghtered and eaten, ripped apart. It angered the elders even more, and now people are alert all over Italy. It has spread toward Milan.â
âAnd the authorities? Those who are human of them, I mean.â I said, and he shook his head. âSo far, their lips are sealed. But it is only a matter of time before riots start, and if that happens somewhere. If they end up starting a war of wolves against people.â He said, and I chewed the inside of my mouth.
âThe rogues are going to take advantage of that, arenât they?â I asked, and he nodded.
âWe are getting into a bigger war than we are going to be able to handle. And the issue is, I donât know whether or not we are going to be able to get out of it without bigger problems.â He said, and I tapped the desk twice.
âThen we are going to need to start acting,â I said, and he raised an eyebrow. âWe are going to start with the snakeâs head first. The rest of the body perishes until it is completely dead when its head is cut off.â
âAnd that means?â
âJacob has to die.â I said, making Matias raise an amused eyebrow Leonardo walked inside, and I crossed my arms over my chest, waiting for wha, to say. I knew that he wouldnât be coming this Ust as the door opened.
he was going if it wasnât.
âThe pack doctors and nurses chose to run away, and they doors are.â He said, cutting to the point.
know where the secret wwScape âGreat, just what we needed.â I said, rolling my eyes.
âOf course,â he said, making me frown at his smirk.
âWhat better way to hold those who we dare go against us hostage than in the tunnels under the house, rightâ¦?â
