Chapter 117
Alpha Enzo
Enzo:
âYouâre hurting.â Alaria said, walking out of the room with me.
I frowned, and I took a deep breath as she shook her head at me. âYou really shouldnât have left that hospital, Enzo.â
âAnd miss an opportunity like this one? I think that it was fate.â I said, and she blushed. She looped her arm with mine and guided me toward the sitting area that was on the same floor. It was a small living room, giving a little more privacy to those who wanted to sit away from the common living room. âHow are you feeling?â
âA little exhausted, I guess. But you are the one whose injured. You need to get some rest, and it seems like youâve been runningâaround since arriving to the pack.â She said, and I chuckled. I winced, and she shook her head at me.
âThe painkillerâs effect died down, it seems.â I said, and she nodded.
âDo you want me to get it for you? It would help easeâ¦â
âDonât,â I said, stopping her. âI want you to rest as well, and it seems to me that you fail to understand that little part.â
âI do, but you need help andâ¦â
âAlaria,â I said, shaking my head at her. She looked at me for a moment, and I took her hand in mine, gently brushing my finger over hers. Our eyes met, and she blushed before I let her hand go. âGood.
Just sit and relax for one minute. It wonât do me any harm. Plus, the pain would be dying down in a bit anyway.â
âYou would have said that if I asked you in the room with Ashton.â
âYou really donât like having a sweet moment, do you?â I asked, and she laughed.
O âIâve had enough of them for a long while. I am going to need to cut them off before growing too used to them.â She said, and I raised an eyebrow.
âWhy not?â
LI ÑÑÑпÑÑ 10:59 âDo you want anything to drink anything?â
That you âYou really are going to run away from the subject, arenât you?â I asked, and she took a deep breath.
0 âI am not sure what you expect of me, Enzo. But right now, the last thing that we need is any investment in ourselves that would end up making us get hurt. Donât get me wrong, but weâve had enough of that and the two of us are going to need a break.â She said, and I nodded. âSo, do you want to drink anything? Or do you want to tell me what Leonardo planned on the secret doors?â
âYou heard.â
âHim and I were with Yasmin when we found out. Letâs just say that it is not going to be a very nice encounter if we were to end up dealing with a bunch traitor wolves who know no manner and no ethics when it comes to the arts of war. Not to mention the fact that Katherine is going to be a little happier than necessary when and if she finds out about this.â She said, and I nodded.
âKatherine is the last thing that I am concerned about right now. The main concern that I have is what Jacob is doing in Milan and Florence. While I donât have direct proof that he might be behind it, I know that this would be of his doing.â I said, and Alaria frowned.
âThis?â She asked, and I sighed.
âLetâs just say that wolves are attacking humans. The authorities are not liking it and are going to be taking actions. They would have had it not been for a few of them being wolves, but I know that IF this proceeds, we are going to end up dealing with more than we are going to want to take care of. The rogues are going to turn more wolves against their own kind and packs. And if their number grows;
then we are in deep shit.â I said, and Alaria nodded in understanding.
âAnd do you think that it might be a diversion? I mean from what might really happen?â She asked, and I shook my head.
âThough I wish that I could say yes, I would say no. Jacob is not going to be busy ONLY attacking us.
He has other enemies, and those who were always against him are going to be one of his main targets.
The issue would be the fact that he is going to go on a killing spree, and if that happens, then we are going to be losing more people than we are going to want to. It might force our elders into submission, and IF we submit to the rogues, then everything that we have done, built, and ordered would be changing.â I said, and Alaria frowned.
âHistory would be repeating itself, and the councilâ¦â
<<
âWould be corrupted. More than it already is, that is.â I said, and she took a deep breath. âI am going to need to find a way to deal with the situation. The thing is, I donât know where to start. Leonardo is going to secure the tunnels, this would be one start. Keeping them out would be the beginning of things, but then we are going to need to deal with the council, and I doubt that they are going to be willing to start a meeting amidst the war that we are in.â
âI am guessing that they might be forced to. You know, unless they want to end up losing everything that they managed to build; then that is going to be a completely different situation. But as far as I know, until now, I am going to like to think that they are going to doubt the rogues and their intentions.â
She said, and I nodded as I saw Matias approaching. He looked at Alaria and smiled before turning his attention to me.
Taking the hint, Alaria got up from the couch and smiled at me. âIâll go and check on Ashton.â
I looked at Matias who smiled, watching as Alaria left before turning to face me. âYou donât deserve her, by the way.â
âThank you, Matias. Your words really do make a difference.â I said, and he chuckled. âWhatâs going on?â
âA little more trouble around the rogues. One of my men reported, though.â He said, and I straightened, waiting to hear what the man was going to tell me. âJacob is going to make his move. Though what he is targeting first, he isnât sure. However, we are going to need to be careful.â
âReason?â I asked, and he looked down the stairs for a moment.
âLeo was right.â
âHe always is.â I said, and Matias chuckled. âHave him secure the tunnels.â
âHow did you know?â Matias asked, and I smirked.
âHe is my best friend for a reason.â I said, looking at the armrest for a moment. âAnd the two of us have other things to take care of.â
âAnd they are?â Matias asked, and I smirked.
âA little wolf cult is in need of punishmentâ¦â
