Chapter 121
Alpha Enzo
-Alaria:
âYou really are a lucky woman, I have to admit that much to you.â Elder Caspian said, and I raised an amused eyebrow.
âI donât call it lucky, I call it knowing what is right. Even Enzo knows that I wouldnât put him, our son, and everyone around us in danger. It is not in my nature, and I am against doing anything that would hurt a child as well.â I said, and he took a deep breath. âMy son is my priority, and I am not going to put him in danger, I wasnât, even if it meant separating him from his father for his safety.â
âBut you knew that he would have been safe being the Alphaâs son. You could have told Enzo.â He said, and I shook my head, making the man raise an eyebrow.
âHad I told him, things would have grown more complicated. He didnât feel the child growing at the time, I will admit, our bond wasnât as strong, and it was too early for him to feel it anyway. But I know that he might have started comparing with Alonso. Taking the fact that he wanted to get rid of me, being with Katerina was always a dream to him, I would have been the one biting it in the bum. I didnât want to find myself in such a situation, and frankly, I was growing too tired of everything that I had to deal with at the time.â I said, explaining the situation to the elder.
âAd yet, you chose to hide the childâ¦â
âWould you have told him, if not you, anyone that you know, would have told him had they been in my shoes?â I asked, stopping the man. âAlone, tired, and mostly abandoned. The man that I was in love with wanted nothing to do with me, and I knew that I had to make a choice. He could have easily asked me to let go of my baby at the time, and though it is not something that I want to think of, it is always a possibility when anger takes place. I didnât want to do anything that would risk my babyâs safety, even if it was something like this.â
âThe fact that you took the decision upon emotion is not something that I like, but putting in mind that you seem to have thought of everything and all angles, I am impressed. You and Enzo have spoken of matters, but you know that if you choose to want to fight this, you are going to need to stand strong, and for your son to be named his heir, you are to be his wife.â He said, making me take a deep breath.
âOtherwise, what difference would he be from Jacob? Even if you technically were married to him, you hid the child while he married another woman. You could be accused of many things, and I doubt that you are going to like it if that happens.â
âAnd that is why I am not afterâ¦â
âIt is not about you, Alaria. You are putting your son in the same shoes of the man that you are fighting.â He said, stopping me. âWhile I understand that it is not in your intentions, you and Enzo have a different bond when it comes to Ashton, it is what it is in our laws. And I think that youâ
should know to respect them the way that they are.â
2 âOtherwise, you are to name him a bastard?â I asked, raising an eyebrow at the man. Enzo was standing by the door. He nodded at me, and I had to fight back the small smile. The man didnât know that Enzo and I had our different agreements and bonds.
âIt is in our laws.â
âIs it in your laws for Alaria to marry a married man?â Enzo asked, walking inside the room. Elder Caspian turned to face him, standing between the two of us, clearly looking annoyed. âBecause even if I want to marry her, and trust me, no man wouldnât want to have her as a wife. It is only a shame that I found out about it a little later than necessary, I cannot marry her when I have another wife, can I?â
âAs far as I am concerned, Katerina was never your wife.â
âBased on the council and legality, yes. I never even marked her as my own, but if your terms work both ways, everyone knows her as a wife. I cannot simply divorce her in front of others if she does not agree, and I cannot marry Alaria by forcing her into something like this.â Enzo said, eyeing the man carefully. âAlonso is not my son, not my heir, and will never be an heir. I wanted to protect put him him, and I still do. I raised as my own for years, and the last thing that I am going to do is in harms way, but I have to put my child and blood first. I am not going to risk my sonâs safety for Alonso, and I surely will not name him a bastardâ¦â
âEveryone knows Alonso as your child, and it is the reason why your claim is strong as Alpha.â
âThen they will know Ashton as my son, and if they wish to doubt my Alpha claimâs strength, I am more than willing to fight. The winner would be the Alpha whether or not they like it, and trust me when I say, I do not intend to go down without a fight. But I am more than willing to beg for the womanâs forgiveness, on her own terms, when the time comes. Right now she is under pressure, is worried and concerned, and I do not intend to put her in a tough situation.â
âEnzoâ¦â
âIf there is nothing that you are to add, you may leave. The pack already got what they wanted, and it is the approval of war. The rest depends on what Alaria and I decide, and trust me when I say, even if she doesnât choose to want to accept me as a husband, lover, and mate, I would rather not have a son than call my child a bastard. Ashton is to be my heirâ¦â
âWhat if something happens? You have no spare, and the one that should have been deemed a spareâ¦
âAlonso is not to be my heir, and you can announce it to the council, the other packs, and the world. I have ONE heir, and he is Ashton, and if you choose not to respect it, then that it is on you. But trust me, I am not the easy type when it comes to being judged, and those who know me should know that.â
Enzo said, stopping him. âI will have my men walk you to the door. I have other matters to take care of, and I believe that your visit has been a little overdueâ¦â
