Chapter 39
Alpha Enzo
Enzo:
âI think that you should wear the emerald set tonight,â I said, looking at Katherine as she got ready.
Itâs been a while since the two of us went on a âdateâ, and I figured to use that excuse to get her to wear the set. Plus, I really was curious about what she was going to tell me. And then there was the fact that I was going to tell her that we were going to the hospital was another thing to take care of now.
Her eyes met mine, and I raised an eyebrow at the woman, curious about what she was going to say.
âThe emeralds? Why them in particular?â She asked, her tone somewhat hesitant as she looked down at her heels. I didnât say a word for a few seconds, but I watched as she walked toward her jewelry box, pretending to search for something.
Her heart raced and her hands shook, but I waited patiently.
âIs everything okay?â I asked, giving her the chance to speak to me. Telling me was going to be easier for her, and though I knew that she wouldnât, I wished that she would be honest with me. It was going to cut this nonsense short.
Itâs been three days since I heard of what happened, and in those three days, I waited day and night for her to speak. But nothing. She was refusing to even open the subject.
âYes, yes, I just canât seem to remember where I placed it.â She said, and I nodded, chewing the inside of my mouth as I did. âI am sure that it was in here somewhere. But let me go and check the safe. It should be in there.â
I smiled, trying to ignore the anger that I felt, my heart raced, and I had to debate on how I was going to react. Each way that I thought of wasnât going to end well for her, but right now, I didnât know what I could do to make this end well in the first place.
The woman was looking me dead in the eye, and instead of speaking the truth, she was lying so casually that it made my stomach churn. She stayed for a while, looking in the safe, SEMANA OURO OX Emergency calls only and I crossed my arms over my chest as I sat on the chair beside the window.
O The frown that was on my face was enough for anyone to know that I was angry, and though neither Leonardo or me could find why she sold the set, I knew that she was up to something. Whatever it was, I knew that it was going to be coming out of the dark soon.
THE She didnât speak as she closed the safe, and walking toward me, she sat on the chair in front of mine.
âI couldnât find it,â she said, and I raised an amused eyebrow.
âYou couldnât find a set that costs over fifty thousand dollars?â I asked, and she looked away from me, biting her bottom lip.
âOne of the maids must have taken it. I might have dropped it somewhere or given it to one of the girlsâ¦â she said, proceeding with her lies. I stayed quiet for a second, thinking, considering what I was going to say. âLet me go and call Yildezâ¦â
âYou really are throwing this on the maids or one of the girls?â I asked, stopping her. She didnât say a word for a second, processing what I just told her, and I shook my head in question. âDid a cat bite your tongue all of a sudden?â
âI donât understand what youâre talking about, Enzo. That is why I went quiet,â she said, and I smiled, shaking my head at her. The disappointment that I felt was not one that I could. not describe. The way that she spoke and the way that she lied looking straight at me. I wondered what else she was lying about right now, and she as well as she knew her name that I did not tolerate treason of any kind.
âIs that so?â I asked, getting up from the couch. I didnât want to hurt her, and I knew that I was on the verge of doing so. If she proceeded with her lies, I knew that my anger could. end up getting the best of me. And that was the last thing that I wanted to do. âDo you know how much I hate liars, Katerina?â
âOf course, I am always told that you donât like it. It is something that youâre completely against. But I donât understand why youâre telling me that right now.â She said, shaking her head. I growled and that was when I grabbed one of the perfumes that was on the dresser. Her eyes widened in surprise and I threw the perfume at the wall in front of her. The woman jumped as the glass shattered, splattering on the ground.

11:34 â HAVE YOU FUCKING LOST YOUR MIND?â She yelled, getting up from the chair. Her heart raced, and it took everything in me to control my wolf as I looked at her.
âWhere is the fucking emerald set, Katerina?â I asked again, this time my tone was far more ntimidating, and I could tell that she was scared. The whole pack went quiet, and I knew that it was due to hearing the glass shattering and their wolves sensing the anger of their Alpha. âAnd I am not going to repeat the question again.â
âI said that I donât know,â she said, her eyes welling up with tears.
âWhere was it the last time that you saw it?â I asked, knowing that she was playing with words. She wasnât going to know where it was right now. The idea of the salesman selling something that she sold to him was common. Her doing it behind my back was what I didnât approve of âOne.â
âEnro, please âTwo, I said, glaring at her. âAnd if I reach three without an answer, you are going to regret ever setting foot in this pack âEnzo, I am carrying your child. Please do not do this,â she said, and I chuckled. This was one of the excuses that I knew that she would use It was the ONLY reason that would have. her living despite her lies. Then I was going to know what to do with her.
Thâ_ âI sold it,â she said, stopping me. âI had to sell it because Bianca needed the money to cover her husbandâs scandal and story. She didnât know how to confront the man and she knew that she couldnât pay from her account; he would suspect something. She asked for the money and I was afraid of withdrawing it from our account.
âPlease, Enzo, I gave her the money because she needed it. But please, I promised her to keep it a secret. I didnât expect the news to get to you.â She said, making me take a deep breath. I took a step back, heading to the door, not wanting to see her face. âEnzoâ¦â
âThe one conversation that the two of us are going to be having will be when we are at the hospital next week to check on this baby.â I said, not bothering to look at her.
âWhat hospital?â She asked, her voice dropping as she asked.
SEMANA OURO APROVEITE Emergency calls only b âI called Daniella.â I said, looking at her over her shoulder. âYour appointment is next week, and I will take noâ¦.
âShitâ¦â Katherine said, holding her stomach. Her eyes widened, and she fisted her shirt as a cry of pain escaped her lips. âMy babyâ¦â
âKatherine?â I asked, frowning as I turned to face her. I ran to her side and lifting her in my arms, I held her to my chest as I rushed to the infirmary.
Alaria, who I saw with both Alonso and Ashton before entering the room with Katherine frowned at the sight before wrapping her arms around both kids, stopping Alonso from seeing his mother in this state.
âGo inside, Iâll come right âMamaâ¦?â Alonso called, his voice low and filled with fear.
away.â
âDonât worry, your mom is going to be fine,â Alaria assured. She nodded at one of the maids to take them back to the living room before she followed me to the infirmary room along with two of the pack members.
I laid Katherine on the bed, my heart racing as she cried out, holding onto her stomach. Bellaâs eyes widened at the sight, but she didnât say a word for a second before she nodded.
