Chapter 42
Alpha Enzo
Alaria:
I watched as the children slept on Ashtonâs bed.
After what happened, Alonso didnât want to sleep in his own room, and knowing that his mother was going to stay in the infirmary, I didnât stop the kid from doing what he wanted. It was his father who had an issue with me; I wasnât going to let him get in my head to hurt the child.
I ran my fingers through my sonâs hair, smiling as he slept peacefully beside his older brother.
Enzoâs words played in my head, and I couldnât help but find myself tearing up at the fact that he knew that he was his legitimate son. He knew that the two of us were married when I found out that I was pregnant, and yet, he still announced him to be a bastard. It was a stab in the gut. One that I couldnât do anything about.
My phone rang, taking me off guard as it buzzed on the bedside table beside the childrenâs bed. My eyes widened and I jumped to pick it up in fear that it would wake one of them up.
Thankfully, it didnât.
I looked at the caller ID and was surprised when I saw that it was the Petrov Alpha heir.
Damon.
Flashback:
âWhat brings you here, Alaria?â He asked, looking at me with a smirk on his face. I ran my fingers through my sonâs hair, keeping my eyes on the man.
âI was signing my son up in school. You know, I wasnât living here before, but now that I am, I believe that it would be the best option for him.â I said, choosing to be honest. I knew that tomorrow was going to be a big day for Ashton, and I knew that I was going to take advantage of it to find myself an office to work in. I couldnât bring myself to leave him at home with them alone. Not when I trusted none of them in that place. âWhat about you?

âNo,â he said, chuckling as he shook his head. âMy niece goes to this school. Tatiana. She is my sisterâs little one.â
âInteresting.â I said, and he smiled. âDoesnât your sister pick her up on a regular basis?â
âDepending on whether or not she is busy with her husband. You know, sometimes they tend to have things to tend to, and I am a single man who has no life in their eyes.â He said, and I laughed. He got down on his knee in front of Ashton before extending his hand. âAnd you must be the champion who is going to go to this school.â
âHi,â Ashton said, and I smiled, removing my hand from my sonâs head, giving him the chance to speak and move a lot more comfortably. He looked at me and I winked at him, allowing him to speak to the man. Damon smiled at me and winked, making me blush before looking away from him.
Little did I know was that I was going to see the heir Alpha a lot more times than I believed that I would.
âHello, bud. Are you excited for your new school?â He asked, and Ashton smiled, nodding excitedly. I smiled at the two of them and Ashton looked up at me.
âThe school is very big and I like it.â He said, and Damon nodded.
âIt is, and it still becomes bigger as you grow. You know, there are different places for older students.
Even I used to get lost here when I picked up my youngest brother.â He said, and Ashtonâs eyes widened in excitement. I shook my head and smiled before he extended a hand to shake his. âDo you promise to be good in school? A young man like yourself shouldnât give his mom a fuss when he is in school.â
âI promise,â Ashton said, and I smiled. His eyes met mine as he stood to face me before he handed me his phone.
âWhat am I to do with this?â I asked, and he smirked.
âAdd your number, of course.â He said, and I laughed. âThat is, unless you want me to use my own methods of finding it.â

âHa, ha,â I said, and he laughed. âIt was a pleasure meeting you, Damon.â
âThe pleasure is mine, Alaria.â He said, extending his hand to Ashton, âbut the biggest pleasure goes to you, little one.â
âThank you,â my son said, making Damon smile.
âIâll give you a call,â he said, looking at me, making me blush. âYou know, I doubt that you think that I just took your number to save it, aye, beautiful?â
End of Flashback.
âYou really should stop calling me at this hour, Damon.â I said, and he chuckled.
âWell, you are either busy searching for an office or you refuse to answer during the day as youâre busy with your son. I figured a while past bedtime could be the right option.â He said, and I smiled, shaking my head as I sat on my bed. I kept my eyes on the kids as I spoke, and I couldnât help but smile as I found myself feeling somewhat relieved that I was going to be able to distract myself.
âSo, what did you call me for?â I asked, and the man chuckled.
âI assume a simple hello is not going to be an answer to your question, would it?â He asked, and I laughed.
âNot at all, especially since you donât know who I am. You have been calling on a daily basis, which I find interesting, actually. But then again, you donât give me an explanation to why youâre calling.â I said, and he chuckled.
âDoes there have to be a reason to why Iâm calling you? You know, someone could call because he is a friend?â He asked, and I shook my head as I looked out the window. My heart ached as I knew that I was far from being in the place that I wanted to be.

âWell, the first start to us being friends is me getting to know you.â He said, and I laughed, shaking my head at the man. The idea of me making a friend, a guy friend to be exact was one that I never believed to be possible. With everything that I went through and with Enzo and my brother, I just distanced myself from everything and everyone.
âAnd how do you intend to do so, Alpha?â I asked, taking a glance at the kids for a second before walking toward my dresser to put medicine on my hand. The last thing that I needed was for it to be bruised, and I knew that it would judging by the force that Enzo put on il âWell, we can start by a cup of coffee tomorrow after you drop your son to school?â He suggested. âI also have an option for you as an office. If youâre willing to take it. I can make a few arrangements. I have a feeling that you might like it too. So, what do you say?â
âYou really are thinking of everything, arenât you?â I asked, and he chuckled.
âWell, if you are willing to say yes; then Iâll be thinking of a lot more than just that.â He said, and I blushed.
âSure,â I said, shaking my head at myself. âWe can go for coffee tomorrow and then we can see this office youâre talking about. Weâll decide what happens from there.â
âGreat! Iâll be waiting for you by the school.â He said, and I hummed in response.
Until then, Damon,â
âGood night. Alaria.â He said, and I smiled, biting my bottom lip..
âGood night.â I said, hanging up. I put my phone down on my dresser as I looked myself in the mirror for a second. Smiling as if I were some teenager who was asked out for a date for the first time in her life.
âGet a grip, Alaria. Now is not the time to be excited about this. Especially not with the umbe of things that you have to do.â I said, voicing out my own concern. âNot when you have a threat like them that you have to deal withâ¦â
