Chapter 59
Alpha Enzo
Enzo:
I watched as Alaria walked down the stairs with Ashton by her side.
Ashtonâs eyes lit up when he saw me, and though I could tell that he wanted to approach, he stopped and looked at Alaria. She smiled and nodded, and he rushed toward me.
I got down on one knee to look at him, and he smiled when our eyes met. Alaria stayed one step behind, choosing to give us our moment as she looked down at us.
âI made this today.â He said, pulling out a paper. He handed it to me, and I frowned in confusion before flipping it to see that it was a big house.
âWhat is this?â I asked, and he looked at Alaria.
âIt is our home.â He said, turning his attention to me. âI am going to draw you, t mama, and me. Then I am going to draw a big garden in another paper, and I am going to draw a football. It is going to be like the one we play with.â
âYouâre going to draw me?â I asked, and he nodded.
âHe is going to do his project about his family members. Those that he sees as a role model.â Alaria explained. âIt is one of the reasons why we came here. I wanted to ask you if you wanted to help.â
âMe?â I asked, and she nodded. She put her hand on Ashtonâs shoulder, nodding at him to walk inside the living room, leaving the two of us alone.
âItâs been two days since the two of us have argued.â She said, and I frowned.
âAnd you find that odd?â I asked, and she shook her head.
âIf anyone knows you, Enzo, it is me.â She said, and I looked away from her. âI figured that this would help you bond with him. Youâve been avoiding the house and heâs been asking. questions. While I understand that it is not my place to tell you what to doâ¦â
SEMANA OURO Emergency calls only U âDoes he really have that project?â I asked, and she scoffed.
D100%11:38 âI am no liar. But I could have done the project with him myself. I wanted you to be involved with him because I know that it would mean something to him. At least, he would have a small memory of you, the hero that he grew to know, would be willing to help him.â She said, and I looked up to find Katherine walking down the stairs. She had her hand on her stomach, and Alaria rolled her eyes at the sight.
âWhat are the two of you on about?â
âThe pregnant demon is here.â Alaria said, rolling her eyes. âWeâll be in the living room if youâre willing to join.â
Alaria walked away, not even bothering to look at Katherine whose eyes widened as she went to grab her arm. I stopped her by wrapping my own hand around her bicep, stopping her.
âThe woman just insulted me and you are simply letting her get away with it?â She asked, and I shook my head.
âWhat do you want me to do, Katherine? Hang or throw her out of the pack?â I asked, my tone a lot more sarcastic than I intended for it to be. I had to admit, even I didnât understand why I spoke to her in such a tone, but I knew that with everything in hand, I was still doubting her. And at this point, even her presence annoyed me.
âI would prefer both, but you are not going to do anything, are you?â She asked, and I rolled. my eyes.
âYouâve been avoiding me since the hospital. I am carrying your children, not only one, and the reply that I keep getting is you resenting me. While I understand that you are busy, but you could at least spend time with me. We have a lot to prepare, and I findâ¦â
âYou can prepare them. I am sure that the pack womenâ¦.
âThey are not my childrenâs father for them to be preparing things with me!â She said, and I had to fight back the response that I wanted to say as I felt a wave of anger that I knew would end up going wrong.
âI have work to take care of.ââ
âWork, means him.â She said, referring to Ashton.
SEMANA OURO 15/05 A 31/05/2024 Emergency calls only âHe is my son. He is my responsibilityâ¦â
âAs are the children that I am carrying. The âsonâ that you call your own was born when the two of you werenât married. He wasnât born within the pack grounds, and that makes him at bastard.â She said, and I raised an eyebrow.
âWouldnât that be the same case with Alonso?â I asked, and her eyes widened. She held her breath for a moment, and I shook my head in question. I was crossing the line and I knew that I shouldnât, not when I didnât have anything in hand that proved the result that I was doubting.
âYou really are playing with fire, arenât you?â She asked, and I cupped her cheeks. She put both her hands on my wrist, stopping me from touching her before she chose to take a step back. âYou can go to them. I am sure that they are going to be a lot more excited to see you. Plus, it seems to me that you enjoy their presence more than you would be enjoying mine.â
âHe is a son that I didnât live with. I doubt that you should be comparing the two thingsâ¦â
âAlonso lived and grew without you for a long time, and I donât remember seeing you treating him the way that you treat that boy.â She said, shaking her head at me. âAnyhow. Iâll be in my room. I have things to take care of, and Iâll have the girls and men start preparing the nursery. At least, I am going to need to start with the initials. You know, we donât have that long before the children are born, do weâ¦?â
