Chapter 89
Alpha Enzo
Enzo:
âWhat is going on here?â Alaria asked, entering the kitchen to find me making breakfast.
The two maids who were here, stood back, helping me out with cleaning and setting the table. Alaria crossed her arms over her chest and I watched as she looked at Ashton, waiting to hear an explanation to what she saw. Truth be told, I didnât have one, at least, not one that was going to convince her with an answer that she wanted to hear, âI am making breakfast today.â I said, and she scoffed, raising an amused eyebrow.
âThe last time you entered the kitchen, you nearly burnt it to the ground, Enzo.â Alaria sald, and my eyes widened. Ashton laughed, and the two maids had to look away to stop themselves from laughing.
âWhat are you trying to do?â
âI already made an egg for us. We are going to have breakfast together as a family.â I said, and she sucked in a harsh breath as the smile that was on her face was almost instantly wiped out.
âI have work to go and get ready for,â she said, wanting to take a step back. I looked at the maids and my eyes hardened as I nodded at them to take care of things while I walked toward her. I wrapped an hand around her arm, pulling her out of the room, knowing that this wasnât something that I wanted Ashton to hear.
âEnzo, the two of us know what is going on, and you donât need to play the game of family with me. I doubt that youâ¦â
âI told you that my apology was not one that was temporaryâ¦â
âA cup of coffee and breakfast arenât going to prove whether or not it is.â She said, stopping me. âThe gesture is kind, but it is not one that I want to hold onto. These moments of excitement arenât ones that I am going to fall for.â
*âYou can at least come and allow Ashton to see the two of us together, Alaria.â I said, and she looked away from me for a moment. She looked at the door for a moment before she shook her head.
âYou called him a bastard, Enzo. While I was pregnant with him while married to you, you deemed him a bastard. I understand that you might regret it, but that doesnât mean that I am going to forget it.
Maybe things are different now, and I have allowed you to be in his life, but that neither changes the reality of things, norâ¦â
âYou know the reason behind me calling him thatâ¦â
âThen you shouldnât have brought us to stay in the pack in the first place. At least, it would have made a lot more sense to me, my brain, and to my son to know that we were not in a place where hellfire was broken loose whenever it can.â Alaria said, stopping me. âUp until today, not once did I come and throw my anger out on you. I put everyone in place, I pushed everyone away, but I always respected and allowed you to do what you wanted.
Today, I am fed up with doing so.â
âNo one has asked youâ¦â
â
âAnd that is the main reason why I am saying this right now.â She said, stopping me. âYou are going to stay away from me, and I am going to find myself and Ashton a place to stay. I am not going to stop you from seeing your son, it is not my place to do so, but I donât find it appropriate to stay in your house when I am clearly nothing to you. And donât tell me that I am. I am tired of allowing everyone to step over me, and that includes you.â
A âI didnât step over you, Alarla,â
âIt doesnât feel like it.â She sald, making me frown. âAnyhow, I have things to take care of. You can have breakfast with Ashton before he gets ready for school. It is still too early for him to be heading off.â
Alaria didnât wait for me to respond as she turned to walk Inside the room. I frowned as I turned to walk inside the kitchen only for the door to be knocked, it was Leonardo.
I opened it and he walked Inside, smirking when he saw Ashton walking out of the kitchen.
âBeta Leo!â Ashton said, making me chuckle as he ran toward Leonardo who wrapped his arms around him, lifting him in his arms.
âHello to you too, little wolf. How are you doing?â Leo asked, kissing his cheek. âHowâs your mom? You arenât tiring her, are you?â
âI am fine, Leonardo.â Alaria sald, walking toward the living room to pick up her phone from the coffee table. âAshton, baby, come to the room when youâre done with breakfast as we are going to need to get you ready for school.â
âBut itâs weekend, mama.â Ashton said, pouting his lips. Alariaâs eyes widened in surprise and she looked at me, her eyes hardening as I smirked.
âYou couldnât have told me that it was a weekend when I was talking, could you?â She asked, and I shrugged.
âI wanted to see when you would figure out that schools are from Monday till Friday. Plus, I was curious about what you had to take care of on a Saturday morning,â I said, and she shook her head as she let out a low growl of warning before she walked back to the room.
Leonardo shook his head as he kissed Ashton before putting him down on the floor.
âI take it that the two of you are not on the best terms?â He asked, and I shook my head.
âWe have been through better times,â I said, crossing my arms over my chest as I watched Ashton head to the kitchen.
âWhatâs going on?â
âJacob was at the hospital earlier.â He said, making my eyes harden. âAnd both he and Katherine were seen making what looked like a dealâ¦â
