Chapter 8 "Worst Day Ever"

Me and Jackson had just arrived at his house, it was pretty dark outside when we got out of the restaurant which meant that a couple of hours had passed. I was guessing two or three at the most?!

It didn't matter I just knew I had to get home since I didn't know if Riley was okay, of course I trusted and Ollie and Kayla but I worry, it's my job as a brother!

Jackson walked me to my car and I leaned on the hood of my car as he stood in front if me.

"I had a great time.." I whispered out, a blush forming on my face. He came closer and put both hands on either side of me, I forced myself to not look up at his dominate face as I stared at the floor.

"I did too, you have no idea how happy you made me today" he said but muttered the last part, that made me look up as I gave him a questioning look.

He smirked, shaking his head "You should go now" he whispered in my ear, "but I'll see you tomorrow"

I nodded as he got off of me, I started walking to driver's seat but then ran back planting a kiss on Jackson's lips. He was shocked but kissed me back quickly.

"Text me when you get home?" Jackson's husky voice asked me. I nodded and smiled as I backed away and got in my car.

Man! I felt like such a girl! Oh well, fuck that! I had a fucking great time!!

Probably the best time in a long time!

The drive to the dance studio was nice and quiet expect for the radio playing some pop music. I got back to the dance studio in about  20 minutes. I got out of my car walking to the entrance, when I opened the door I was meant by a sleeping Riley curled up the next to Kayla with Ollie whispering sweet things to Kayla in ear.

I couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy in my chest at the sight of them. They looked up at me, and I walked over to them with a smile on my face.

"Sorry if I took long, I really didn't expect our da- , I mean my meeting to take that long!" I said recovering myself from saying date.

Kayla looked at me a smirk planted on her lips, "No worries, I'm just glad that your date was amazing that you stayed longer!" She sang in a sing song voice teasingly, as she got up with a sleeping Riley in her hands.

I got Riley from her arms as I said goodbye and thank you a few more times before finally leaving.

I covered Riley in her covers as I kissed her goodnight, I walked out and went to my room leaving her room open a little just in case.

My parents still weren't here when I arrived home which really got me suspicious since they usually are always here, at least one of them is here while the other isn't.

I shrugged it off as I made my way to the shower but not before texting Jackson that I had arrived home.

I got inside the shower letting the cold water hit me as I thought about what tomorrow would hold.

I got out of the shower and checked my phone, as it vibrated warning me that I had a message.

I looked at the user ID and saw it was Jax, I mentally smiled as I opened it.

Alright, thanks for telling me. Can't wait to see you tomorrow ;)   Night babe! :*

I chuckled and started replying back to him,

Night though you shouldn't call me babe, you know I'm not your boyfriend  :P

I sent the message getting inside my bed, I didn't wait long before my phone vibrated.

I unlocked the phone looking at the new message.

Who says your not mine? Cause I sure as hell know your mine! Do I need to prove that to you?

I chuckle at his attitude as I wrote back,

Yes you do need to prove that to me :p

I stretched out, before I plugged my phone so it could charge overnight. Once again not a minute later I receive a message.

Alright then I accept the challenge. Tomorrow you will receive the best surprise of your life! Now go to sleep babe.

I blushed and type up a quick reply,

Alright night, I can't wait to see it! :)

Ughhh! I'm turning into a girl because of this man!! I shake my head and close my eyes. My mind drifting into a familiar dream, it was a reply of what happened today but me and Jax were a little more touchy in my dream.

"Stephen, darling wake up!"

I groaned out loud and turned the other way.

"Leave me alone! Can't you see I'm busy!" I yelled out groggily at the person that was trying to wake me up.

Did the person not see that I was busy? I hope they have a death wish or else this isn't going to look good in my profile.

"I'm sorry sweetie, he wants to see you now" I finally recognized the voice as my mom's. I got the energy to sit up and look at my mom, giving her a questioning look.

She gestured to the door, I groaned "Where's Riley?" I asked her.

"She's still in her room sleeping but I don't think you should worry about her right now!" She said as she pushed me out of my room. My mom hasn't acted like this since she lost her job and dad started drinking.

I'm surprised to say the least.

I ignored her as I walked down in my boxers with a sexy bed head.

My bed heads are always sexy!

" I don't know why this is so important that you have to wake me up!" I told her but then stopped when I saw my boss standing there at the door.

I motioned my mom to leave which she did after giving me a pity smile, the fuck? This can't be good!

I went to the door and stepped outside with my boss, " Oh hey boss, sorry I'm like this but what's up?!" I asked nervously since he usually calls me when he needs something but this time he came to my house?!

"Stephen, you know you were one of my best workers..." he started but I looked at him shocked, oh god please no!

" I'm sorry to say this but.." he started again holding onto a piece of paper, " your fired bu-"

I cut him off  "Wait! What why?! Sir, I didn't do anything, I don't know why your saying this?!" I yelled out, mad no furious!

What the fuck did I do this do to deserve this?!

Mother fucker has no reason to fucking fire me?!

He looked at me and raised his hand with the paper " This is your last paycheck and Stephen I didn't want to fire you!"

I stared at him shocked "You didn't?! Then who did!" I yelled out, who the hell would fucking fire me, I had a clean background!

"Jackson he bought the store since it was in the ground so he came fro-" He started explaining but I held my hand up.

I didn't want to hear anymore, I couldn't!

For some reason when I heard his name and that he did this, I just felt a pain in my chest.

I wanted to cry for some reason but I decided against it, I haven't cried in a long time, I wasn't starting now!

Wait? Is this his fucking surprise that he had for me?! Firing me from the job I need most!!

"No! Your lying he wouldn't fire me!" I screamed upset that he would do something like that when he knew I needed that job unlike anybody else!!

"Stephen, I'm sorry..Do you know Jackson?" He asked me, he looked at me with a curious look but I just waved him off.

"No....not anymore anyway" I muttered the last part, I ignored my ex boss's face and went inside my home, slamming the door shut.

Asshole! If he thinks he can get away with this, he is in for a big surprise but it's not going to be as worse as what he did right now!

I go to the kitchen trying to calm myself but I end up cussing under my breath,I grab a beer from the refrigerator and start drinking it.

It leaves it a bitter taste in my mouth but it's probably because I haven't drunk any beer in a long time because I'm busy taking care of Riley but right now I just really need to.

My mom walks in and sees me with the beer, her face is surprised as she get's herself some water.

"Your drinking?" I hear her voice ask me, I finish the beer in two gulps and get another one, "Yeah, you probably know why?!" I say to her taking a huge sip of the second one.

" Yeah, I heard you screaming but what about Riley? She's not stupid you know? And I don't think your mad at getting fired, I think your mad at who fired you." She suggests, I groaned and slam my hand on the counter.

"Why would he do that! " I screamed out to no one in particular, I felt my mom's warm soft hand on my back, soothing me.

I don't know why she was being so nice today, she usually ignored me and watched t.v all day! Why is she being so nice after disappearing for a whole day!

I decided not to dwell on it, I already had a rough morning.

This is just not my day!

I got up, finishing my second beer getting a third one, as I reach to get the third one, I hear small footsteps coming down stairs.

I knew it was Riley, I opened my beer and took a huge gulp out of it just as Riley came downstairs with the pink unicorn in her hands.

Her hazel eyes landed on me, she looked at the beer in my hand and gave me a questioning look but I just shrugged it off.

"Riley go get dressed" I said as I started walking to the living room to find the money I hid in the living room for this specific reason.

I always had a back up plan since I knew even with this paycheck it still wasn't enough to cover for most things.

"Why?" I hear her soft cute voice ask me, I looked back and saw her tired eyes look at me with concern.

"Your going to stay with Ollie and Kayla today" I respond not missing a beat as I find my hidden money under the sofa.

I always hid it there because it was so obvious that my parents would never look there until the last second. I had saved at least $4,000.

"Are you going to see Mr.Jax today, why can't I go? You said yesterday that I would see him!" she complained, her voice sounding upset with me but right now I knew she couldn't be with me and I wasn't going to leave her with mom that's even worse!

I flinched as she said Jackson's name though, "No and I suggest you forget about him" I suggested, as I grabbed the money and got another beer after finishing the last one. Riley followed me as I did, I motioned her upstairs but she stood there with determination in her eyes.

"Whyyy? You and him were really good friends Stephieee!" She argued as she hugged the pink unicorn closer to her body.

"Riley were not arguing, go get dressed!" I said, my voice rising a little annoyed that she wasn't listening to me.

I could tell the alcohol was getting to me but I didn't care, the bitter taste wasn't there anymore and it was all that was in my mind at the moment.

She huffed "Stephie this isn't fair! Your drinking that stuff that makes daddy mad! He almost hit you Stephie! I don't want you to get hurt!" she screamed out at me.

My grip on my beer got tighter as I heard her say those words, fuck she screamed at me! I finally noticed my mom again so I decided to use her since I didn't want to hurt Riley as much as I already did, "Ma go get her changed for me please" I said to her with no emotion in my voice.

I was being an ass, yeah I know, I'm being stupid, yeah I know but I just hate how my chest hurts when I thought he actually cared about me.

But whatever he proved to me just how much he actually cared.

My mom looked at me and nodded slowly as she picked Riley up but Riley started struggling in her arms "No mama! Where's Stephie going!? He's mad I know mama! Can't you help him mama! Mama!" she screamed out as she started crying in her arms. My mom shushed her as she started going upstairs, I made sure to hear her door close before grabbing another beer and going to my room and grabbing my phone.

I wondered if I was taking more beers then I should but decided that it was okay.

I dialed the dance studio as I disconnected my phone from my charger.

"Hello this is Kayla th-"

"Kayla it's me Stephen." I said cutting her off.

"Stephen? You okay? You sound weird!"

I ignored what she said getting straight to point "Can you look after Riley all day today maybe a little tomorrow?" I asked her.

"Uh of course but wh-"

"Alright thank you. I'll see you in a couple of minutes"

"Stephen! What's wrong with yo-"

I hung up on her walking to my closet and pulling a black tanktop with a yellow and black flannel then picked out some black ripped jeans with them. I go to the bathroom brushing my teeth and fixing my hair, I get the money and the paycheck as I put it all in my wallet.

I walk downstairs and find a sad sleeping Riley in my mom's arms. I put on my best no emotion face as I stroll to the kitchen getting another beer then picking Riley up in my arms.

"Thanks. I'll be back by tomorrow afternoon!" I say to my mom as I walk out to my car putting Riley in the passanger seat.

I then go to the driver's seat starting the car, making my way to the dance studio.

"Stephen I demand to know what the fuck is wrong with you!!" Kayla demand's screaming in my face, I see Ollie taking Riley away from us and to the back where she wouldn't hear me and Kayla screaming.

I looked at Kayla and shrugged drinking from the beer I had bought on my over.

Was this my sixth or seventh one?!

Oh well!

"That's it Stephen!!" She grabs the beer from hands and throws it across the room. I looked at her and found her usual happy self wasn't there anymore, all I could see was worry and pity!

The made me snap!

I don't need pity!

I looked at her, anger in my eyes but tears were their as well, "YOU WANNA WHAT'S WRONG?! I'LL TELL YOU WHAT'S FUCKING WRONG?!" I screamed at her, my face was red with anger but my eyes showed sadness.

"Last night he told me how he would prove how much he cared about me with a surprise!!! So imagine when my mom wakes me up this morning and I find my boss out there with a fucking slip of paper that's my last paycheck!!! He fucking fired me Kayla!" I continued screaming  not caring if Riley and Ollie could hear me from the other side.

"Oh but no that's not the worst part!! " I started laughing sarcastically.

"My boss t-told m-me" i started stuttering "h-he told me that h-he  bought the restaurant and told my b-boss to specifically fire m-me!! " by now tears were running down my face and Kayla was shocked, sadness in her eyes.

She came to me and wrapped her arms around my body as she whispered sweet things in my ear.

"H-how could he do s-somthing like t-that! I actually fucking cared about him! It hurts so bad Kayla!! I got to know him better y-yesterday we fucking k-kissed and he goes and does that!!"

I didn't notice the door to the back open until Riley was in front of me. I wiped my tears away with the sleeve of my flannel and bent down to her level, I could see her eyes were tear stained but all she did was run and give me a hug.

"Stephie please don't c-cry and scream! It m-makes me s-sad! She stuttered as she cried on my shoulder.

"I know Riley, I'm sorry but I'm just upset right now. Tis all!" I said with all the courage I could muster to sound a bit happy.

She looked at me and nodded, I forced a smile as I kissed her cheek. "Alright! I have some business to do alright?! You go and have a whole day of dance lessons alright?!"

Riley nodded happily, I pushed her over to Ollie who nodded and they went to the back to start in her lesson. I stood up and faced Kayla.

Her eyes were wet with tears and I quickly apologized for my behavior. It wasn't her fault anyway, she just wanted to know what was happening.

She shook her head laughing a little"It's alright, I just didn't know that you could get like that is all! " she responded quietly.

I smiled and nodded " Yeah me too, it was a bit of a surprise for both of us"

She nodded but then her face became serious "Stephen what are you going to do?! I don't want you doing anything stupid! Alright? I care about you know?!

I walked towards the exit then looked back at her " Don't worry, what I'm about to do is something he deserves for doing something like that me!"

"Stephen!"

I hear her call my name but I'm already inside my car driving off to familiar place that just ruined my day!!
