Chapter 49: FORTY-NINE
Her Possessive Alpha
A good morning Ava woke up from the hard rock her head laid on, it took a while for her to return to her senses and realized that the hard rock turned out to be Lucasâs body. For the first time, sheâd slept in his arms, and sheâd woken up beside him, it was not like the disappointment she got from last time when he left her.
Even though all parts of her body ached and her neck felt a bit distorted, she wouldnât give up last night for anything in the world, a blush crept up her cheeks as she remembered how sheâd pleased him last night. Sheâd fulfilled his desires and heâd fulfilled hers as well. She was deep in her thoughts and didnât know for how long Lucas had been watching her until she gazed up at him and met those dark blue eyes again, she smiled, leaned up and kissed him, sliding her tongue into his mouth, the kiss reminded her of the moments they shared the previous night, and she almost felt the need to continue it again, but she couldnât; she had a day ahead of her and she had visitors to see, she sighed as she pulled back from his lips.
âGood morning, Alpha.â
âI have a name you know.â
She smiled again. âGood morning, Lucas.â
âGood morning, Ava, and how did you sleep?â
âNot very well.â
He creased his brow, âand why is that?â
Something unrelated came to her mind then. She recalled how she went on her knees to please him last night, how she begged to be the one, and embarrassment flooded her as she also recalled the contrasting words heâd said to her on the first day of her kidnap, âby the end of your stay here, youâll be the one begging to sleep with me, youâll be the one begging to stay with me forever, I promise you that.â She didnât respond to the question he asked; she would not give him the satisfaction of knowing he was right after all, how her longing to be with him made her sleep on top of a hard rock like that without complaint. He was right, and although she wasnât sure of forever, it doesnât matter. All that matters is that sheâs with him right now.
She changed the topic, standing up from the bed and proceeding to pick up her torn clothes from the floor.
âIâm going back to my room now, Lucas.â
âAva.â
She turned. âYes?â
He paused for a bit, as if finding the right words to say, before letting them out anyway.
âWould you um⦠like to dine with me this morning?â
She knew it took a lot of courage for him to ask her that, but why was he asking her? Why would he want to dine with her of all people?
It gets lonely for him whenever heâs alone. Sometimes he just wishes to have someone beside him, he has many people surrounding him, but he never had anyone heâd let close to his heart, not after Amelia and Bambi. Maybe now, his heart is willing to give love another chance, but will she accept to leave her duties behind for him?
âIâm sorry Lucasâ¦â she hated to disappoint, but sheâs already promised Meeka to join the pack for breakfast today, and besides, she figured she would kill two birds with one stone since she could meet with her visitors at the breakfast table. This was the perfect time for everyone to see her since they were all worried about her since the incident. She hates to have to disappoint Lucas, but she hates to break a promise too. Dining alone with him is not the best option now.
âNever mind, forget I even asked.â
âNo, I would love to dine with you, just that Iâd already promised to dine with the dawners this morning.â
âYou dine with the dawners now?â He was taken aback, even though the dawners looked up to him and loved him as their alpha, heâd never shared a common ground with them to so much as share the same table, and he never expected his mate to do so too. What had Ava done within the short time sheâs been here?
âYes, even though they are diverse, they are very nice wolf folk you know, Iâm sure they would love to have their alpha join them at the table someday.â
Heâs sorry to disappoint but, âthat wonât be happening anytime soon.â Donât get him wrong, he loved his followers, and they loved him too, but except during play with the ones he trusted, heâs never made an attempt to let anyone near him again, or to give anyone a ground to deceive him again, maybe itâs because of what happened with Susan in the past, but heâs banned anyone apart from Nani from ever cooking his meals, and heâs never taken a single drop of alcohol ever since that day, heâs always made sure to be careful, and not to let anyone see him in a vulnerable position ever again, thatâs why he refuses to let anyone so much as come close to him, but Ava, what was so special about her? He couldnât tell.
Ava nodded her head slightly, understanding him perfectly.
âIâll be downstairs if you need me, Lucas.â
âOk.
She went out of the room in her clothing that barely covered because it had been ripped, managing to make her way to her bedroom and freshening up, putting on a new set of clothes before rushing downstairs to join them for breakfast, the table had already been set and some of the dawners were already seated.
âAva!!!â Meekaâs voice echoed loudly through the large room. The little she-wolf ran to give her a hug which Ava had to bend and accept, picking Meeka up and swinging her in the air.
âI missed you, Ava!â
âAww Meeka, but you saw me yesterday,â she chuckled.
âDoesnât matter, Meeka still missed you,â the little girl pouted.
âWell in that case, I missed you too dear Meeka.â
She carried her to the table and sat her down on the empty seat, before letting out the empty chair beside it and sitting near Meeka.
She exchanged pleasantries with Suri and the other dawners while they ate, and a bit later, something then caught her attention; Nani was arranging an extra plate on the large table, the plate was placed before the largest dining chair at the edge of the table.
