Chapter 66: SIXTY-SIX
Her Possessive Alpha
Let love lead âWhy have you been avoiding me, Kiara?â
She doesnât have an answer to that question, she only responded with a blank face while her thoughts continued in her head. Why didnât she see him on time? How easy it would have been for her to escape from this situation, but now she is trapped, with no other choice than to face him. She does not want to be here now, sheâs not ready to face him, not after all thatâs happened between them.
Cian saw her expression, and held concern for her in his eyes. He let go of her hand and continued speaking to her softly, letting out a sigh first.
âAlpha Lucas told me to relieve you of your assignments this morning. He says youâve been facing some challenges.â Kiara held her gaze down, she didnât feel like talking about this now, especially not with the man that caused her to feel like this. Cian continued speaking not withstanding her silence.
âI know how hard this all must be for you Kiara, I just wanted us to talk about what happened the other night, but itâs as though you want to ignore your feelings.â
Kiara looked up and spoke then. âWhat feelings?â
âThe feelings you have for me Kiara, I know that night didnât just happen, there was a connection between us, like a second bond, and it pains me to see you acting this way, ignoring and avoiding me like I did something wrong.â
Was that how he felt? She looked into his eyes, they were crystalline, warm and sad. Did she really make him feel this way?
She let go of the breath she was holding, and passed by his side to take a seat, he also went and sat beside her before she continued the conversation. âIâm sorry Cian. I didnât know you felt that way, itâs justâ¦â Her eyes were beginning to well up, why was she getting so emotional now? And why in front of him? Oh, how she hated herself for this.
She felt a hand on the back of her palm where it sat on her lap, Cian held her hand as if assuring her.
âIâm not going to hurt you Kiara, and I will never leave you if thatâs what youâre scared of. I love you, Kiara.â
She stared up at him astonishingly, she didnât expect those last three words to come out of his mouth, neither did he but they did, and there was no taking them back, his feelings were genuine and he would do well to keep his promise of never leaving her, besides there was no need to hide them anymore.
All she could let out were stutters because of the tears she was choking back.
âD-d-do y-you r-r-really mean w-w-what you said?â She asked that question because she had never heard the words âI love youâ from anyone before. It might sound crazy but it was the truth. Love was a strange word to her, sheâs always waited for the day she would hear it from someone who really meant it, but she never did; never from her parents, not from Alpha Lucas, never even from the time she was mated with Paul.
âEvery word of it, Kiara. I love you and I promise that I will never leave you. If I ever lose you by mistake, I promise to search all the ends of the earth, I donât care how long it would take before I find you, but I am willing to go these lengths and even more for you.â
âOh Cian⦠I really hope you mean what youâre saying.â
âI do Kiara, I really do. So please, stop avoiding me and continue to go on the assignments with me. I need you as much as you need me, and I do hope that weâll be joined together someday.â
âI love you too Cian, and Iâm sorry for avoiding you. I hope to be joined to you too.â
She reached forward and wrapped her arms around his neck, he took her in his arms accepting her embrace. The two fit each other well, like a key fits its lock, like a thread fits a needle, she believed in his words because she saw nothing but sincerity in his eyes, and she hoped in her heart that their union would last forever as he pulled her lips for a gentle kiss...

âBeautiful, I love it so much Reena!â Ava remarked as she looked into the shiny mirror in the sample gown the seamstress made for her size. Reena held the gown together with temporary stitches, it was only left for Ava to try on the gown to fit before Reena added the finishing touches, and as she put it on, she couldnât have looked any more elegant in that black tulip flowing gown.
âLooks like I will be joining you to get a dress made for the ball too!â
Ava turned to direction of Kiaraâs voice, the she wolf had just entered the seamstressâs quarters, beaming with nothing but smiles, it didnât take Ava any explanation to know that Kiara had finally sorted out things with Cian, just like she did, letting her heart lead.
