Chapter 3

Unnatural forces

I have a temper. But I never realized how bad it was until now.

And apparently when I was angry, things moved.

Take now for example, the office desk was shaking. Rattling more like.

Yet Cedric Sam McLain continued looking at me like I was from Mars.

"What. Are. You. Talking about?." I bit out trying to regain my composure.

"Stop shaking my table and I will tell you." He replied calmly.

"I'm not shaking your desk." I denied then I saw the look in his eyes. "I can't freaking control it! Do you know what's wrong with me?" I asked him desperately.

He sighed and rubbed his eyes. "They didn't tell me that you didn't know." He mumbled to himself but I heard him.

"Who?" I demanded. I was about to reach for his neck when he finally spoke.

"You better sit down for this." He advised looking tortured. "I'm not starting until you sit down." He added when I didn't move.

"You will start while I'm standing." I told him firmly crossing my arms over my small boobs.

He was going to argue but he clearly thought the better of it -wise man "You are a supernatural creature. You are not a mere mortal." He paused clearly trying to find the best words to use. "We are a community of supernatural creatures, werewolves, werefoxes, banshees, vampires, seers and lots of other creatures. We are not myths, Santana. We are very much real."

I laughed. I laughed so hard I began to cry. This was ridiculous! Was he telling me that all stuff like werewolves and vampires were real? Did he think I was stupid? I have 4.0 GPA every year and he thinks he can pull a fast one on me? Well, he clearly didn't do his research.

"Where are the cameras, Mr McLain?" I asked catching my breath.

"You think this is a joke." He stated rubbing his face in his hands frustratedly. He turned to me again. "This isn't a joke, I swear to you."

"Oh, okay. So what are you?" I said mockingly with a laugh. "A vampire?"

His face darkened for a second then he laughed. "No. I'm a werewolf."

He was so serious when he said that. I almost believed him. But no way this could be true.

"Right. Right, of course you are." I scoffed.

He walked to me then put his hands on my shoulders the way my brother does. "Santana, if you don't believe this, how then can you explain what happened yesterday and the fact that you were shaking my desk a few minutes ago?"

My gaze faltered and I looked at the desk, it had stopped shaking. How could I explain it?

No, Santana. This can't be it. There had to be another rational explanation.

"Get your paws off me." I said as I shrugged his hands off. "I am going to report you for inappropriate behavior." I said angrily.

He sighed. "Do you want me to prove it to you?"

"You will do no such thing!" I told him strapping on my backpack. I wasn't going to sit here and wait for this man to mess with me. It was too ridiculous. "I'm leaving. I hope you get hit by a bus."

"Oh, I'd just heal. " he smirked.

"Idiot." I hissed stomping to the door.

"No wait don't go, Santana. There is so much more that I still have to tell you." Mr McLain cried.

"Oh really? Why don't you tell your buddies, the vampires." I winked dramatically then left the office slamming the door behind me.

I headed straight out of school. I couldn't wait to leave this hostile place.

In my haste to leave school, I almost bumped into Lola.

"Lola!"

"Um hmm. Were you going to skip out on me again?" She asked crossing her arms and leaning back on one leg. It was her signature stance for being stubborn.

I wanted to tell her everything that had happened today. But I couldn't, it was way too weird. So I just settled for hugging her tight. She was surprised by my sudden need for comfort.

"Boo..." She whispered hugging me back. Then released me. "Are you okay?" She asked with a creased brow. Taking my hand, she pulled me towards the parking lot. "What is it, babe?"

"So much has been happening today, Lola. I'm tired of all this. People are overreacting about this thing." I shook my head. "I have to go home."

"Do you want me to come with you? Did you see the principal? What did he say?"

"I saw him. He doesn't believe any of this, he thinks we are making all this up." I wish we were making all this up, I thought with a sigh.

"I'm sorry that you are caught up in all this. I guess people are meaner than usual, huh?" Lola said sympathetically rubbing my shoulder.

It wasn't the students that was bothering me. It was one ridiculous teacher. A werewolf, he said. Ha! Who does he think he is coming to feed me with myths. Maybe he put something in the desk that made it move.

"Yeah, I'll be fine." I mumbled not ready to tell her yet. I needed to think this through first. "I have to go."

"Should I come with you?"

"No. No, its alright. I need to be alone."

"What? Not even with your best friend?" She asked looking a little crushed. "Would you tell me what's really bothering you?"

"I can't, Lola." I hugged her. "See you tomorrow?"

"Hmmm..." Was all she said with a raised eyebrow but thank goodness for once she decided not to be stubborn.

I smiled then got into my Range, waved at her then drove off. I knew if I had let her tag along I'd have run my mouth.

How could anyone possibly believe the bullshit Mr McLain was barking? I mean really it was bull! Werewolves, vampires, what had he said? Banshees? Really? Still none of that crap explained moving desks.

By legend, none of the things he listed had the power to move stuff. No one in the Twilight series was moving stuff with their minds! So what would be his psycho explanation for me?

Slammed my foot on the gas harder as I felt my anger boil up again. Something about him made me unable to control my anger. Well, whatever was happening with me was terrifying and maybe I didn't want to know. He had no right coming to me like that.

As I reached our gate, I fumbled for the remote in the glove compartment, finding it, I opened the gate.

After a few minutes I had parked my car and was in my room.

Grabbing my laptop, I quickly turned it on and searched the internet for supernatural creatures. I had decided it was time to turn to Google for assistance.

I found all sorts of things all the stuff i found was being referred to mythical. Nothing in my search suggested that these things were actually real and worse off all, there was nothing at all about the stuff that was happening to me.

I sighed then tried different key words. Hmmm, still nothing. I had been searching the internet and reading articles for almost two hours now and I had nothing tangible. Well, I hadn't found anything that supported Mr McLain's theory. Which was supposed to make me feel quite relieved but it gave me a sort of breathless panic. I wished I could find an explanation for all this.

Once again I felt the tears coming but this time I bit my lip and tried not to cry. It wasn't going solve anything for me. Maybe it was time to talk to my dad about this. No. Not yet. If it got worse I would talk to him.

It was a little dumb but I wanted to watch Twilight series again so I went through laptop archives and thankfully, I found it.

I ran downstairs to get a peanut butter sandwich and of course, yogurt then ran back up to start my movie. I didn't normally watch movies but sometimes, it was necessary.

Bella seemed to be a girl like me, desired to be invisible but a force beyond her control forced her to meet Edward. Though in my case I don't think Mr McLain was my Edward. Sure I had a crush on him but that was before he opened his mouth. Now I wanted him to disappear and never come back.

A werewolf, my foot! Jacob was hot and he was a werewolf. Idiot Mr McLain, also hot but...well, a liar. Werewolves were not real, they just didn't exist. Next he will be telling me he imprinted on me.

Ha!

Utter rubbish.

Bella believed that Edward was a vampire, she never doubted. She didn't even ask for proof.

But wait a minute, Mr McLain had offered to prove it to me, hadn't he? But then if he can prove it then he wouldn't be a liar, would he? And supernatural stuff will start existing for me. And I can tell someone that my history teacher is a werewolf.

But my huge question is what was I? None of the despcribed categories fit me. Mr McLain probably knows what you are, a persuasive voice inside my head said softly. What if he was telling the truth? What if Twilight was based on facts? If it was all true then my parents had alot of explaining to do. Or maybe they didn't know. What about Finn? Did he also have what I had? Maybe it was actually like a curse. What other things did Mr McLain want to tell me?

I sighed tiredly.

I had to know.

I looked down at my hands, the movie all forgotten. I had an ability to supernaturally move stuff and I wanted to know why. If I was a weirdo, I wanted to know the extent of my weirdness.

I jumped off my bed and ran downstairs without even thinking. I had my hand on the doorknob when I heard voices from the family room.

"She will be here in a second." I heard Finn say.

"Who will be here in a second?" I asked as I entered the family room.

" There she is." Dad said. "How did you know she was coming?" He asked Finn who shrugged.

"What's going on?" I asked looking from dad to Finn.

"Someone is here to see you." Dad said nodding in my general direction.

"Who?" I turned and my heart slammed into my ribcage.

Mr McLain.

"Hello, Santana." He said with a smile. He was clearly loving the shocked look on my face. "Thought I would just come and say hie."

I glanced at my dad. He looked pleased. Couldn't blame him, no guy had ever come to this house looking for me.

"Did you now?" I said with a raised eyebrow. I wanted to act all snotty and tell him to leave but I needed to know the truth. Even though, I was determined to make it tough for him.

"Honey, why don't you give Cedric here a tour of the house?" Daddy dearest suggested.

"That's a lovely idea." Finn supported with an weird smile on his face and I don't think I had ever heard him use the word 'lovely'. What was wrong with him?

"What?" I frowned.

"It's such a beautiful house, I would love to see all of it." Cedric charmed my dad.

"Well, Santana will show you around. I will be in my study." He gave us a smile before he shuffled out of the room.

"Shall we?" I offered mentioning towards the door. I didn't knew what games Finn was playing but I sure as hell didn't want him to know the games i was playing.

"Okay." Ced- Mr McLain followed me up the stairs but instead of showing him the house, I led him straight to my room.

"Is this your room?" Mr McLain raised an eyebrow hovering at the doorway. "Is this appropriate?" He grinned.

"Get in." I said bit out through clenched teeth. When he didn't get in, I reached over and pulled him in. Was it normal for a guy's arm to be so buff?

"What are you doing here?" I hissed as soon as the door closed.

"I came to play checkers." He retorted drily looking around my room. "This is a little too big, isn't it, princess?" He mocked.

I just pursed my lips and crossed my arms over my chest.

"I came to finish our discussion. Were you watching Twilight?" He asked sounding shocked and amused his eyes on my laptop.

I ran over to my bed and slammed my laptop shut. "No, I wasn't."

He smirked.

Great, this was going great.

"We have nothing to talk about, Mr McLain." I told him sitting myself on a couch.

"Are you going to offer me a sit?" He asked still looking amused.

"Oh, these seats are reserved for people, not dogs." I smiled sweetly.

He chuckled sitting down despite my insult. "You are really something, Santana. Gabriel is gonna adore you."

"Who the hell is Gabriel?" I asked shaking my head.

"You will know soon enough."

I sighed but decided not to pursue it. "You had no right to come to my house."

"Its important that we finish our discussion." He told me leaning at the edge of his couch.

I mimicked his action. "I don't want to hear it."

"Santana, people's lives are at stake here. And the more you are being difficult, the more time we are wasting and more people will be in danger." All the amusement was gone from his face and he turned all serious.

I mulled it over for a second then I decided he was only saying that because he really wanted to tell me whatever he wanted to tell me.

"Alright," I saw a smile coming to his eyes. "But first, you have to prove to me that you are really a werewolf."

He grinned broadly then stood up flexing his muscles.

The door suddenly flew open and a grinning Finn stood there.

"Not here. Outside." He said excitedly.

What? Was he eavesdropping?

"Were you eavesdropping?" I asked standing up angrily.

"Of course I was. And I don't think it's a good idea for him to shift in here." He said looking Mr McLain over.

Shift? "Shift?" I closed the distance between my brother and I and grabbed his collar.

"That's the word we use for turning from human to werewolf." Mr McLain provided sounding shocked and looking at my brother in disbelief.

"How do you know about that?" I hissed at Finn.

"Look, let's go talk about this outside. Mum is coming to ask Cedric if he is staying for dinner." Finn told us in a hushed voice.

"How do you know that?" I demanded putting my hands on my hips.

"I agree with Snoopy here." Mr McLain said pointing at Finn. "We better go outside.

"Fine." I conceded.

We filed out of the room down the stairs and out of the house. It was already quite dark but just to be safe, we walked to the deepest depths of our property.

"Okay okay this is fine." I said to stop them. "Now start talking, Snoopy." I said stealing Mr McLain's name for my brother.

"No. I'll start." Mr McLain offered. "Don't freak out. And for gods sake don't scream."

I was angry with him but I held my brother's hand tightly, my heart beating erratically.

McLain stepped several steps away from us. Then with a soft growl, he shifted and a big wolf with amber eyes stood before us.

I felt a scream raising up in my throat but I put a hand over my mouth.

What the...?

The light brown gorgeous wolf stared at us for some time allowing us to absorb it then it moved closer to us and bowed its huge head right in front of us. It took all my self control to stop myself from running like a little girl.

"Pat it." Finn suggested lightly brushing his fingers lightly over its fur.

I stretched my hand towards it hesitantly letting it hover over the wolf's head. The wolf raised its head impatiently and made contact with my hand. A very annoying reminder that the wolf was in fact the annoying Mr McLain.

I withdrew my hand. "That's enough." I said out loud unsure whether the animal could understand me or not.

He retreated and within a blink of an eye, the man was back in front of us.

He took deliberately slow steps towards us. Taking in my awed expression, he smiled in satisfaction. "Now do you believe?"

I looked away from him feeling like I was in a dream. So werewolves were real after all. Maybe also vampires.

Oh God...

"Okay, so you were right." I said stuggling to regain my composure. "But what am I?"

Mr McLain sighed. "You are a Guardian."

"A what?" I had never heard of a anything like that before.

"A Guardian. I told you about the supernaturals community. Well we have like a leader who is a queen or a king so a Guardian's job is to look after the leader and the community as a whole. You have one of the most important gifting in the community. You are the glue of the supernaturals."

"So there is like a town of people like you?" I asked.

"Not really. There was a town centuries ago but it became very suspicious to the humans living around us. They thought we were a danger to the world so they killed many supernatural families. It was then that the Guardians decided that everyone had to split up. So the town was disbanded and we have lived for centuries in peace but now the Guardians lost touch and we might be in danger again." He looked deep into my eyes. "We need you."

I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding. "So how do you know I'm one of these Guardians?"

"All these things are fortold, Santana. You were born extremely gifted." He told me. Was that respect I heard in his voice?

"Why have I never seen these gifts?" I demanded.

"Because they usually start showing when you are eighteen if you were not taught to exploit them from a young age. There once was a 3 year old Guardian. He grew to be the wisest Guardian ever known."

"Wow." I breathed rubbing my arms.

"In time you will learn to control your gifts and use them appropriately not using them to crash teachers against walls." Mr McLain said with a smile.

I didn't know how he could be making attempts at humor right now. My life was going to change completely and I didn't want it to change.

"What if I don't want to be Guardian?" I asked in a small voice.

"It's your destiny, Santana. You can't run away from destiny." McLain told me softly.

I glanced at Finn. He was watching me quietly. "What about Finn?" I asked.

Finn's eyes shot up to Mr McLain's.

"Finn, from what I have seen of him is a Seer." Mr McLain.

"I knew it!" He cried punching the air happily.

"What? What's a Seer? And what do you mean you knew?" I asked from McLain to Finn.

"He can see into the future. It was a seer who saw your birth, Santana." Mr McLain said with a smile.

"And you knew?"

Finn nodded. "I always had killer instincts and I also sometimes dream of events before they occur." He said proudly. "So googled it and voilà I am a Seer." He grinned

"Wow, that's so cool." I whispered. "Is it like a family thing?"

Mr McLain hesitated before he nodded.

"Mum and dad are supernatural too?" My eyes widened. "And they never told us?" My while childhood had been a lie.

"They were probably trying to protect you guys." McLain said with a nod of his head.

"We still had a right to know though." Finn pointed out and I nodded.

"Listen, guys, I think I have told you enough for one night."

"Mr McLain!" I protested.

"Oh for heaven's sake call me Cedric. I'm not a teacher." He said a little irritated. "And I'm saying nothing more tonight. We will talk tomorrow." He decided.

"No, you will tell us today." I told him firmly.

"Don't tell your parents about this yet, okay?" He said ignoring me.

"Why not?" Finn asked.

"I will explain tomorrow." He glanced at us one last time and he disappeared into the shadows.
