Chapter 734
Spoiled (Lily)
Lilly held the phone, staring at the screen in a daze.
Ms. Gemma Sullivan
Oh! Gemma Sullivan!
The young lady Lillyâs mother possessed!
She hadnât seen her in such a long time. Lilly had a great impression of this young lady that her mother had clung on to for a while. She forgot to be sleepy altogether, hurriedly making a phone call over.
âHello?â Her adorable voice was a little nasally from just having woken up.
Gemma was struck by the cuteness at once. âLilly, thereâs this guy who wonât leave me alone. Heâs so weird and narcissistic!â
Lilly held the phone in one hand, clutching her pants in the other. âGemma, why havenât you called me in such a long time!â
Gemma stopped short. âHuh? I just didnât want to disturb you guysâ¦â
They were all a happy familyâ there was no point in interrupting that.
The two of them chatted for a while, when Lilly suddenly began counting on her fingers. âGemma, donât block him! Iâll come looking for you another day!â
Gemma said, âHuhâ¦?â
Lilly hung up the phone in a hurry. âOh me oh my, Iâm gonna be late for school! Bye, Gemma!â
Gemma said, âWhat???â
Beep beep beepâ¦
Gemma looked at her phone, seeing messages come in from Chad.
Youâre twenty-two this year, you donât have much time left⦠youâre going to be out of the market once you pass twenty-five.
Iâm right, arenât I!
Gemma frowned, and could not help but reply:
My *ss, youâre right! You useless man, I canât believe you went to school for so many years just to turn out like this!
Conservative people cover their bodies up, but I think youâve covered your f*cking brain!
Did you not put on your brain this morning waking up? Stinking up my inbox with your dimwit messages!
How much do you make a month? A couple thousand dollars? Who are you to say women are out of the market? Go ask your mother if youâre in the market at all, you piece of garbage!
Gemma got more and more angry as she typed. She sent a few swearing emojis, before chucking her phone to the side.
She switched to another phone, throwing on a new set of clothes and left the house to have breakfast.
She had an abundance of phones anyways, and all of them were functioning.
She wasnât going to work, and there was no need to worry that someone would have to reach her urgently!
She could do whatever she wanted.
Over on another end.
Chadâs expression was expression, staring at his phone in a fit of fury.
What a trashy woman. These children whose parents died early on truly werenât taught any manners at all!
How dare a woman like this still be picky? She should be thankful that someone found her attractive at all!
But Chad realized that Gemma did not block him after telling him off, and scoffed to himself.
See? Women were just annoying like this. She clearly didnât have feelings for him, but was still keeping him in her contacts just so there would be an extra person liking and commenting on her posts whenever she updated.
He sent another text: Itâs not classy for a woman to use the word âf*ckâ. Please mind your language.
Iâll teach you next time. Manners can be taught, and developed.
âWhat are you doing, Chad?â
Chanice had just finished making breakfast and saw that Chad was still sitting around. She went and hugged his arm.
Chad locked his phone. âNothing.â
Chanice had a sharp eye, and could see that he seemed to be chatting with a girl.
She said, annoyed, âWho was that?â
Chad smiled gently. âJust a colleague.â
Chanice stretched out an arm. âShow me.â
Chadâs expression shifted at once, his previous tenderness turning cold as he narrowed his eyes.
âWhy? Are you suspecting me of something?â
Chanice said, âThatâs not what I meantâ¦â
Chad scoffed. âIf you donât trust me at all, thereâs no point in us being together! The most important thing in a relationship is mutual trust!â
The ghost matchmaker on top of Chaniceâs head saw the opportunity, and said at once, âLook what youâve done! What was the point of that? Youâve screwed over another relationship again!â
âHe was fine just now, but now heâs unhappy and itâs all your fault! Think about what youâve done!â
Chanice felt a strange remorse.
Was it really her fault?
She should have trusted himâ¦
âIâm sorry!â Chanice hurried over, apologizing meekly. âI didnât mean that.â
Chad said, annoyed, âLetâs just eat!â
He sat down at the table, eating on his own.
Chanice bit her lip. She felt wronged, and could not help but tear up while eating.
For some reason, after getting back together with him she would feel a sense of fear from time to time as she would lose him just like thatâ¦
Just then, Chaniceâs phone rang.
She stood up and was about to pick up the call, but Chad shouted at her. âHold on, whoâs that?â
Chanice opened and closed her mouth. âJust a friend⦠a normal friend!â
Chad smirked. âWhy would you have to go outside to pick up the call if itâs just a friend? Canât you take the call in front of me?â
Chanice gripped the phone. âItâs not like thatâ¦â
Chad slammed his utensils down, crossing his arms. âPick up! Put it on loudspeaker.â
Chanice did not want to do it, feeling a strange fear at the sight of the incoming call. But to prove her âinnocenceâ to Chad, she picked up the call anyway.
âHelloâ¦â
It was a manâs voice. âChanice, wanna have breakfast? The gangâs all here.â
Chanice felt a strange wave of panic. âThatâs quite alrightâ¦â
The man stopped short, asking in a confused tone, âAre you alright? You sound pretty sick, do you want us to pay you a visit?â
Chaniceâs friends all knew about what she had gone through after the breakup.
There were a few more friendsâ voices in the call, all girls. They were all concerned over whether she was alright or not.
Chanice hurried to say, âIâm fine⦠Iâm going to go now!â
She hung up the call once, trying to explain herself at the sight of Chadâs ashen expression. âChad, itâs not like that. Listen to meâ¦â
