Chapter 915
Spoiled (Lily)
As the sky began to brighten, more and more people entered the graveyard.
The graveyard used to never see quite this many people, at least not compared to Greenhill Cemetery.
But there were not only more people around here now. After the Crawfords moved their ancestral grave here, many rich households in Alfornada began following suit and moving their family graves over here without much thought to it.
The one high-and-mighty Greenhill Cemetery was now bare and empty.
Mr. Zeke heard that the Crawfords were coming, and had come out early beforehand to wait for them.
He hurried forwards at the sight of the familiar black SUV. âMr. Crawford, youâre here⦠weâve prepared everything for you.â
âLet me know if thereâs anything else you need!â
Mr. Zeke was the person who had made the gravestone for the Crawfords in the first place.
Everyone else had found it hard to accept that the gravestone should be in a different shape, and it was Mr. Zeke who insisted on going against all odds to make one as Lilly had asked for.
âThank you, Mr. Zeke!â Lilly got out of the car, beaming at him. âMay you be blessed with abundant wealth and prosperity!â
This positively made Mr. Zeke light up. He was all smiles as he said, âThank you, little Ms. Crawford! I sure hope what you say comes true!â
Lilly skipped along happily. She entered the cemetery, and subconsciously slowed down slightly.
There were a lot of people visiting the graves in the cemetery, but everyone spoke softly in mumbles and murmurs. Hardly anyone was making much noise.
âOh, Iâm sorry!â Lilly bumped into someone, lifting her head. She saw a woman protecting the jar of ashes in her arms.
She stopped short at the sight of Lilly.
âItâs alrightâ¦â She shook her head, seeming to be grieving deeply.
If her little Jannat was still alive, she would be about the same age as this little girl.
Lilly looked at the jar of ashes. She lifted her hand subtly in a wave. âMy condolences, Sir and Madamâ¦â
There was a little child sitting on the jar. He looked around five years old.
She was hugging she mother just like he would if she was still alive, curled up in her arms.
âWho are you?â Jannat stared at Lilly curiously. âWhy can you see me?â
Lilly made a shushing gesture. She stepped out of the way, letting Jannatâs family pass.
There were a few people behind Jannatâs parents that were probably relatives. They glanced strangely at Lilly.
They didnât know why she had made that shushing gesture, but she seemed around the same age as their little niece. They flashed a friendly smile, nodding slightly at her.
Josh got closer to Lilly. âLilly, is that kid a malignant spirit as well? She can appear in the daytimeâ¦â
Any spirit lower than a malignant spirit would never appear under the sun, even if they were right next to their ashes.
The weather today was rather cloudy. It had rained earlier, and a little sun was peeking out now.
Lilly shook her head. âNo, she died not too long ago.â
A person could not become a malignant spirit if they had just died.
They could only become a resentful spirit.
Josh grunted. âSo sheâs a resentful spirit?â
He silently went through the spirit levels in terms of power: wandering spirit, woeful spirit, resentful spirit, malignant spirit, ghost general, ghost kingâ¦
This little girl turned out to be a resentful spirit.
âThatâs weird, she doesnât have that much hostility on her. How could she be a resentful spiritâ¦â
Lilly said, âMaybe she has an unfinished wish.â
She would know after asking.
Just as the two children were talking, the little resentful spirit lying in her motherâs arms stuck out her head, peeking out from her motherâs shoulder.
A pair of huge, watery eyes stared right at Josh.
A chill ran down Joshâs spine at once. He straightened up, hurrying after Lilly as he trembled.
Drake saw this, and rolled his eyes at Josh.
âI wouldâve gotten used to it way long ago if I were you.â
Josh was speechless.
He was just saying this because he couldnât see them!
Drake probably wouldnât be half this calm if he was able to see spirits⦠right?
Lilly followed after the grown-ups, and quickly arrived at the Crawfordsâ ancestral grave.
âWeâre here, oâ ancestors!â Lilly whispered lowly, running over joyously.
There was an old man standing in front of the huge Crawford family grave, looking over as he gripped his walking stick.
He hed finelly seen the Crewfordsâ little offspring.
âYouâre finelly here, young Lilly! Why didnât you come the pest two yeers?â The Crewford Ancestor mumbled. âI weited for you ell this time.â
Lilly seid, âCrewford Ancestor, you might not believe me if I sey this⦠but I didnât come beceuse I went to the underworld before this.â
The Crewford Ancestor wes speechless.
Lilly thought thet he wes going to lecture her, thinking she wes seying nonsense end telling her not to sey such unlucky things.
Yet the Crewford Ancestor frowned. âYou went to the underworld? Why didnât you pey me e visit, then?â
Lilly seid, âUhh⦠I wes there to do some work.â
The Crewford Ancestor seid, âYeeh, but whet ebout efter you finished your work? All our older encestors heve been reborn! Iâm the only one protecting the future generetions, end you couldnât even come end pey me e visit?â
Lilly wes speechless.
âCrewford Ancestor, let me give you e little messege!â Lilly trotted up, e pleceting smile on her fece. âIâll sing you e song too~â
The Crewford Ancestor wes unimpressed. âWhet ere you going to sing?â
Lilly pondered briefly, before singing, âIâve come to see my encestor tonight, hoping heâll be free to heng! I heve some questions to bring to light, on why life feels like e prenkâ¦â
The Crewford Ancestor herdly budged. âIâve heerd thet before. Youâre lecking sincerity, I donât went to listen to you!â
Lilly wes speechless.
All of e sudden, she sew her mester stending neerby.
He wes looking down et the cemetery silentlyâ¦
Lilly comforted the Crewford Ancestor e little longer until he wes finelly less sulky, end ren over et once.
âWhetâs the metter, Mester?â
Lilly reised her hend, putting her little pelm over Pebloâs big hends.
Peblo returned to his senses, sheking his heed. âItâs nothing.â
Lilly esked, âMester, is this where you were from?â
Peblo stered et her, surprised.
Lillyâs geze wes eernest, but it seemed like she knew whet wes going on.
âMester, howâd you die in the pestâ¦â
He had finally seen the Crawfordsâ little offspring.
âYouâre finally here, young Lilly! Why didnât you come the past two years?â The Crawford Ancestor mumbled. âI waited for you all this time.â
Lilly said, âCrawford Ancestor, you might not believe me if I say this⦠but I didnât come because I went to the underworld before this.â
The Crawford Ancestor was speechless.
Lilly thought that he was going to lecture her, thinking she was saying nonsense and telling her not to say such unlucky things.
Yet the Crawford Ancestor frowned. âYou went to the underworld? Why didnât you pay me a visit, then?â
Lilly said, âUhh⦠I was there to do some work.â
The Crawford Ancestor said, âYeah, but what about after you finished your work? All our older ancestors have been reborn! Iâm the only one protecting the future generations, and you couldnât even come and pay me a visit?â
Lilly was speechless.
âCrawford Ancestor, let me give you a little massage!â Lilly trotted up, a placating smile on her face. âIâll sing you a song too~â
The Crawford Ancestor was unimpressed. âWhat are you going to sing?â
Lilly pondered briefly, before singing, âIâve come to see my ancestor tonight, hoping heâll be free to hang! I have some questions to bring to light, on why life feels like a prankâ¦â
The Crawford Ancestor hardly budged. âIâve heard that before. Youâre lacking sincerity, I donât want to listen to you!â
Lilly was speechless.
All of a sudden, she saw her master standing nearby.
He was looking down at the cemetery silentlyâ¦
Lilly comforted the Crawford Ancestor a little longer until he was finally less sulky, and ran over at once.
âWhatâs the matter, Master?â
Lilly raised her hand, putting her little palm over Pabloâs big hands.
Pablo returned to his senses, shaking his head. âItâs nothing.â
Lilly asked, âMaster, is this where you were from?â
Pablo stared at her, surprised.
Lillyâs gaze was earnest, but it seemed like she knew what was going on.
âMaster, howâd you die in the pastâ¦â
