LONELY! TXT.
Choi Beomgyu sighed before turning around in his seat and looking at the sleeping girl. He didn't really understand why ( maybe it was the fact she saved his life ) but he wanted to talk to her so badly. She was the one person in school who didn't bully him.
Well, there was that group of 4 boys who seemed really popular and nice at the same time but they weren't in this class.
Beomgyu gasped and sat up straight, facing the board at once when he noticed Choi Jaewon flinch and slowly look up. In the corner of his eyes, he saw her glance towards him but pass by like he wasn't even there.
Why did she help him yesterday? Could she have possibly cared about him?
Beomgyu looked at the girl again before quickly shaking his head.
No way, she didn't care about anything.
"Why the heck are you staring at me?"
Beomgyu jumped and widened his eyes as the girl he had been thinking about glared at him. She looked away from him and reached down into her bag, pulling out her favorite lollipop before looking back at Beomgyu with raised eyebrows.
"S..Sorry." he didn't know why he stuttered but she seemed satisfied with it.
As the rest of the day went by, Beomgyu didn't see her since they both had moved on to their respective classes and happened to not share any together. He continued to think about her though. He was desperate to know why she would have helped him when all he was, was a nerd no one liked.
Speaking of no one liking, a random kid shoved Beomgyu, causing the male to fall over and drop his books. Instead of getting angry like normal human though, Beomgyu looked up to the guy in awe and admiration because this man, who had just pushed Beomgyu on purpose, was a popular kid.
Surrounded by money, friends, girls, this guy was the definition of popular.
and Beomgyu wanted to be just like him.
It didn't matter to him how rude these kids were or dense they could be when it came to people, he just wanted to be like them. Always having a group of friends, being the life of a party, having a girlfriend who fed him and maybe did his homework, Beomgyu just wanted it all.
He wanted nothing more than to be popular and he was determined to do it, even in a school like this.
The 'popular' kid scoffed at Beomgyu before grabbing the waist of a girl beside him and walking off, loudly laughing at something another boy beside him said.
Beomgyu stayed on the ground, a little confused. The only thing he couldn't understand in the 'popular world', was the fact that others were bullied. He wondered why but could never seem to come up with an answer.
Choi Jaewon was peacefully walking over to lunch thinking about what disgusting food they would serve today, when she saw Choi Beomgyu sitting in the middle of the hallway looking like an idiot.
His glasses had slipped down the bridge of his nose, pink lips parted and mouth hanging open, books scattered across his figure while other students passing by stared at him.
Jaewon really, really didn't know why, but within seconds, she had grabbed his arm and picked up his books, shoving them into the surprised male before turning around and leaving. She heard Beomgyu call her out but paid no attention whatsoever, not wanting to be questioned about why she was helping him.
Honestly, she didn't know herself. It was either the fact she hated bullies or the fact Choi Beomgyu was an idiot who was probably not going to survive in this torture named high school.
Jaewon walked into the cafeteria and grabbed a plate along with necessary utensils before standing in the line for food. A few people were quick to move out of her way as she walked forward, her face never displaying any emotion. It wasn't that she was feeling particularly angry or anything, she just didn't want to smile and look bright for no reason.
and then someone bumped into her.
She wasn't mad, but she did feel bad for whoever crashed into her because they were probably going to be scared and run off thinking she was going to kill them.
but he was different.
Choi Yeonjun ran forward, wanting to get to the table in the back of the canteen before his friends could. Due to his inhuman speed, he accidentally crashed into a girl waiting in the line for the school lunch. Surprised, he took a step back and quickly bowed, apologizing at once to whoever he had bumped into. When he looked up, he saw a slightly surprised yet mostly emotionless face of the girl he had been noticing the past year.
According to the school and the gossip of students, she was Choi Jaewon, the cold queen of the school. She was supposedly rude to everyone and was the type to sleep during classes, ignoring the teachers.
but Yeonjun didn't really believe any of that.
So, he gave an apologetic smile and waved to her now startled face expression, before running to his friends who had sadly reached the table before him and were getting ready to tease him.
Choi Jaewon was really surprised. This blue haired weirdo had just smiled at her and then ran off. She had always thought everyone was scared of her but obviously he was different. Deciding not to care anymore, she faced the line again and walked forward to let the cafeteria lady serve her lunch.
Something that looked simply edible was dumped into her tray but she didn't care and just walked on, taking a seat in the table in the very back by herself. She didn't really mind, she liked being alone. It gave her time to think of herself and her life.
but today, it didn't seem like fate wanted her alone.
Choi Beomgyu took the seat across Jaewon and offered an awkward smile. She raised her eyebrows and stared at him.
At least it wasn't a glare.
He didn't say anything and neither did she. They just sat and ate the really bad food in silence, Beomgyu's face occasionally scrunching in disgust at the food of the school. They really needed to use their money on getting better treats for students.
In the corner of his eyes, he thought he saw Jaewon break a small smile but the second he looked up, it was gone.
"You were smiling just now!" he yelled, pointing at her.
A few students nearby glanced at them, including a group of four in the back table, but he didn't really care.
"Beomgyu shut up." she said at once, her voice sounding strict.
"I didn't know you knew my name." he gasped at once, eyes widened.
"You introduced yourself to the class dipshit." she replied, rolling her eyes.
"You were paying attention?!" he exclaimed.
So far, this was the longest conversation Beomgyu had with her, much less anyone in this school, even though he had been here for two days already. He didn't even talk to the teachers this much.
Choi Jaewon rolled her eyes again before paying attention to the food in her tray. Then, she looked up annoyed and grabbed the plate, dumping it into the trash without hesitation. When she turned around, her eyes met the blue haired weirdo from earlier. The boy didn't look away and instead continued to stare at her, a curious look registered on his face.
Jaewon sent him a glare before facing the problem, Choi Beomgyu.
"Why are you bothering me?" she asked, as he stood up and threw away his tray as well.
Beomgyu followed Jaewon out of the cafeteria as a few people stared at them. A nerd was following the school's cold queen, who wouldn't stare?
Jaewon hated the sudden attention and that's why she wanted Beomgyu to leave her alone, but, Beomgyu on the other hand, was loving it. Never in his life had he received attention, much less a glance from other people and right now, he wanted to enjoy it to the fullest - even if the attention was weird stares towards them.
"Jaewon!" Beomgyu called.
At the sound of her name, the said girl flinched before facing him.
"Look here, we're not friends-"
"Help me become popular!" Beomgyu claimed, interrupting Jaewon's unsaid words.
Jaewon scoffed at the dumb request.
"and why would I do that?" she asked, crossing her arms.
Beomgyu looked at her, hoping she would just help him but she refused to do so, not knowing how it would matter to her in any way.
"I'll stop bothering you if you help me." Beomgyu offered.
Jaewon just shook her head before turning around and walking off.
"I'm not helping you with anything." she called out as she left.
Beomgyu sighed before turning around as well, now deciding that no matter what, he was going to convince Choi Jaewon to help him become popular.
