Chapter 807: 807: She Gave Back Wholeheartedly for What I Paid
After My Rebirth, I Escaped My Marriage
âIf I had known that you two would end up falling in love and getting married, I wouldnât have constantly scolded you for your stubbornness, and I wouldnât have tried so hard to persuade you to give up,â Shi Jun reflected. âI annoyed you and even cursed at Lin Gantang a few times, a bit harshly.â
âEven I wasnât sure she would stick with me,â Wen Yanqing lowered his eyes.
Shi Jun opened a bottle of beer and placed it beside him. âA drink? A tiny bit of alcohol shouldnât affect anything, right?â
âNo, Iâm not drinking. I stopped medication and started preparing for pregnancy. I wonât be touching alcohol for a while now,â Wen Yanqing said with a hooked smile, soft waves shimmering in his eyes.
Shi Jun stopped his beer-drinking motion, then, happy for him, playfully punched his arm. âGetting ready for a child? Congratulations, youâre moving on to the next stage of life.â
Seeing the undeniable happiness on his friendâs face, Shi Jun chuckled along. âYour eight years of love werenât wasted. Itâs bloomed and borne fruit, thatâs great.â
âItâs been almost nine years now,â Wen Yanqing lightly pursed his lips. âLooking back, it feels like a dream.â
Shi Jun knew why he was so reflective; he had seen Wen Yanqingâs hope, disappointment, and despair, so he understood that every bit of happiness now tasted as sweet as heavenly dew to him.
âYou stood behind her, did a lot for her. Lin Gantang is lucky,â Shi Jun said.
Wen Yanqing shook his head.
He held the cup of warm water, lowered his eyes slightly. âI watched over her for eight years, but what she did for me during the days I was blind, her unwavering support, and her resolve to spend the rest of her life with just me, is not something others could do.â
Wen Yanqing would always remember the choices Lin Gantang made for him; she didnât mind his disabilities, wasnât afraid of his deteriorating health, and lived up to the wedding vowsâwhether in health or sickness, through good times and bad, she always loved him, took care of him, accepted him when he needed her most.
âThatâs enough,â Wen Yanqing lifted his head, a smile touching his lips. âWhatever I gave, she responded with heart, and she did it well, didnât she?â
Shi Jun was momentarily stunned.
After a moment, he sighed softly, âYeah, thatâs what happiness is all about.â

Their conversation had just ended when they heard a voice from the other side: âBig Mi, move aside. Youâre going to get stepped on.â
Then Lin Gantang came out holding desserts, smiling brightly as she placed them down, âTry it, a low-fat, low-sugar baked milk. Itâs my first time making it, and it turned out quite successful.â
Shi Jun looked at the gentle expression on Lin Gantangâs face, thinking to himself that she had indeed changed a lot and truly hoping she could walk this long path with his good brother.
âIt tastes great,â Shi Jun tried it and praised, âWith your cooking skills, you could easily open a Western dessert shop.â
Lin Gantang knew her own level and shook her head with a smile: âYou flatter me, I just learned a bit from the internet.â
âCome on, have some barbecue,â Shi Jun invited her as she sat down.
Lin Gantang didnât stand on ceremony, but seeing the skewers in front of Wen Yanqing, she worriedly said, âDidnât you get a nosebleed from the heat? How much did you eat?â
Wen Yanqing coughed a few times.
Shi Jun looked from Lin Gantang to Wen Yanqing, asking if the heat reaction was that severe?
Wen Yanqing took a few sips of water to ease himself, then said, âRight, right, Shi Jun, you eat more, Iâll have the dessert my wife made.â
Shi Jun didnât quite understand his good brotherâs odd reaction; he took a swig of beer and turned the conversation to another subject, âHave you heard about the Yin familyâs situation?â
Lin Gantang perked up her ears, âIâm on good terms with Yin Zhen. There doesnât seem to be anything happening in her family, or is there?â
