Chapter 1279
The Almighty Dragon General
Hearing this, Cynthia handed the core back to James. âYou should have this back, James. It sounds
precious. I canât afford to break it.â
James took it and put it away.
âBy the way, tomorrow is New Yearâs. Where are you planning to celebrate, James?â Quincy changed
to the subject and looked at James eagerly.
âMy house, of course.â Thea cast a glance at Quincy and took Jamesâ hand. She raised her head
proudly as if she was announcing that James was her man and that Quincy should not even think
about it.
James did not want to return to the Callahans because they were powerâhungry.
âI wonât return to the Callahansâ mansion,â said James.
âWhy?â Thea was immediately displeased.
James said, âRegarding our official status, weâre divorced, so itâs unsuitable for me to return to the
Callahansâ mansion. I plan to look for Newton and spend New Yearâs with him.â
James had plans to look for Newton.
The main reason was that he wanted to learn some inside stories from thirty years ago.
Newton had been following Thomas since thirty years ago. After Thomas was expelled from the family,
he also left with him.
There was definitely more to this caretaker than what met the eye.
He was surely not an ordinary person.
How could an ordinary person be worthy of following Thomas?
âHoneyâ¦â Theaâs face was sorrowful. âItâs just a document. Is it that important? Or do you not have me
in your heart at all?â
âYouâre misunderstanding me, Thea. Iâd like to find out what happened thirty years ago. Newton must
know a lot of details,â James explained.
âYou donât have to do it now. It wonât be too late to ask after the New Year.â
Quincy smiled and said, âJames, Theaâs right. Itâs your first year in the Callahans. You should join
them.â âIâm leaving tonight too. Iâm heading back to the North. My Dad called me asking when Iâm
returning this morning,â Cynthia said with a smile.
âIâm going back to the Capital too,â Tiara also said.
âMy parents are abroad, and youâre all leaving. Iâm going to be so bored.â Quincy chuckled.
She turned to Thea and said jokingly, âThea, how about I come to the Callahans with you to celebrate
the New Year?â
âThatâ¦doesnât sound too appropriate.â Thea looked troubled.
She would not hesitate if Quincy had asked this in the past.
However, she knew very well what Quincy was thinking.
She did not want Quincy to have a chance to approach James. It would be best if Quincy stayed as far
away from James as possible.
âIâm just joking.â Quincy smiled.
James remained silent because he was at a loss for what to say.
Whether Quincy or Tiara, he had let both of them down.
âSee you guys. Iâll head back home too.â Quincy stood up, bid farewell, and left.
âHoney, letâs leave too.â Thea pulled James as she noticed something wrong with Tiaraâs expression.
She seemed hesitant to speak, which made Thea regard her with pity.
Even Thea felt slightly heartbroken for her as a woman.
She was afraid James would start making promises again. Thus, she quickly pulled him and wanted to
leave.
âTâThen, weâll go to the Callahansâ.â James had a helpless expression.
âCynthia, Tiara, Iâll leave first. Weâll get in touch soon.â
James bid farewell to them and left.
Tiara looked at Jamesâ leaving figure, and tears welled up in her eyes.
Cynthia sighed and patted Tiaraâs shoulder, saying, âIâll head to my room to pack up.â
As the villaâs owner, she knew very well that these women only lived with her during this time because
of one personâJames.
