Chapter 1523

Just as he took a step forward, the machinery activated, and the passageway was blocked. He

staggered backward and catalyzed True Energy to destroy the obstacle. Even though his force was

immense, the door did not budge at all.

Wearing a grim expression, he scrutinized his surroundings in search of the machinery to open the

door and continue forward.

“Callan…”

A voice came from behind.

Callan turned his head and saw Bennett.

He nodded.

“What’s going on?” Bennett walked over to him and asked.

Callan said, “Judging by the situation, there was a fierce battle here not too long ago. If I guess

correctly, James and the others have been captured. At the moment, I’m thinking of a way to deal with

the blocked passageway.”

“Allow me.”

Bennett raised his arm, and powerful True Energy gathered in his palm.

Boom!

The earth rumbled.

However, the door did not budge.

“It’s no use,” Callan said. “This door is extremely heavy. Even I can’t force it open.”

“What should we do then?” Bennett asked.

Boom!

At that moment, the passageway behind them was blocked by a huge boulder. As the boulder

descended, a layer of steel plates appeared on its surface.

“Oh no, we’ve fallen into a trap.”

Callan’s face darkened, and he rushed over to the boulder in the hopes of getting it out of the way.

However, no matter how hard he tried, it would not budge.

Now that he and Bennett were trapped in the underground palace, the Thousand-Machinery Formation

was activated, and poison gas immediately filled the place.

Callan yelled, “Hold your breath, this is poison gas!”

With the appearance of the poison gas, arrows were fired, and steel wires began appearing out of

nowhere.

Callan and Bennett dodged the attacks.

Just as the two were trapped inside the Thousand-Machinery Formation, Thomas, upon seeing the

blocked passageway, knew that the both of them had fallen into Lucjan’s trap.

However, this was within his calculations. He wanted Callan to take the lead for precisely such a

reason.

Thomas scanned his surroundings to try and search for another path. However, the only passage

available was blocked. Thus, he had no choice but to wait patiently. It would be great if Callan and

Bennett managed to escape. However, if they were captured or killed, he would have to find a way to

save them.

He sat in a lotus position on the ground and waited patiently. Although there was a huge boulder

between him and the underground palace, Thomas could still hear the commotion inside. After

approximately an hour, the sound of a fierce battle could be heard, and only ended after thirty minutes

had passed.

“Is it over? Callan and Bennett must have fallen into Lucjan’s trap.”

Thomas stood up and gently murmured.

Soon, the boulder was lifted.

Pressing his body against the stone wall, he had a glimpse inside the underground palace. It was

chaotic inside, and disciples of the Gu Sect could be seen cleaning up the battlefield. Just as he

expected, Callan and Bennett had been captured.

“Reckless as ever despite their age…” Thomas shook his head slightly.

Staring at the underground palace before him, he sensed there were surveillance cameras everywhere

inside. The moment he showed himself, he would be exposed.

Furrowing his eyebrows, he was lost in thought.
