Chapter 2151
The Almighty Dragon General
James was truly interested in the Burial Jade.
Since Zoe brought up the topic, James expressed his interest in the jade pendant.
As for the Targwynsâ ancestral land, James knew the Targwyns were renowned in the familyâs
predecessors once made up the greatest clan in a certain period of history.
Thus, the Targwynsâ ancestral land was undoubtedly an extraordinary location.
This piqued his interest and James was intrigued to see it.
Zoe briefly hesitated after James stated his refusal to marry Laelia.
The jade pendant was their family heirloom, and they refused to hand it over even at the cost of their
entire city, so it was impossible to simply hand it over to James.
Although James did indeed save their family, Zoe was unwilling to give it to James as a simple gift of
gratitude.
He would only bequeath it to James in the form of a dowry.
âMr. Caden, the jade pendant has been handed down by our familyâs ancestors and is a very
sentimental item to our family. We can only offer it to you in the form of a dowry. Please forgive me.â
Zoe was upfront with his reservations.
James would have to marry Laelia if he wanted the jade pendant.
Disappointed, James said, âIf thatâs the case, then forget it.â
There was also a look of disappointment on Laeliaâs face.
She was in favor of marrying James but did not want to force the issue since he already had a wife.
Sitting at the head of the table, Zoe called out, âLaelia.â
Laelia nodded and replied, âYes, Father?â
Zoe ordered, âSince Mr. Caden is interested in our familyâs ancestral land, you should take him there
tomorrow.â
âUnderstood.â Laelia nodded.
âAlright. Everyoneâs dismissed.â
Zoe stood up and left the main hall first.
The other Targwyn family members also left one after another.
Laelia led James back to the palaceâs backyard.
In the backyard, Laelia said with a soft smile, âYou donât have to take it seriously, James. Even though
my fatherâs plan to marry us fell through, you donât have to feel burdened or pressured.â
James smiled and replied, âI should be apologizing to you instead. Iâm sorry I publicly rejected the
marriage and embarrassed you.â
Laelia smiled bashfully in response.
Suddenly, James remembered something and asked, âBy the way, what kind of place is the Targwynsâ
ancestral land?â
Laelia explained, âItâs where our family used to live a long time ago. Our ancestors have lived there for
generations. We only left the ancestral land a thousand years ago.
âOh, is there anything special about your familyâs ancestral land?â asked James.
Laelia shook her head and said, âIâm not very sure about that. However, thereâs a rumor thatâs been
passed down about a super powerful ancestor that existed in our family. Itâs said that he left his legacy
behind in that land. Many years have passed, but no one has ever unearthed this inheritance. Every
family member is granted permission to visit the ancestral land when they come of age to try their luck
looking for this legacy.â
Laelia briefly explained her familyâs ancestral land.
Although she did not know much about their family history, she knew they had a powerful ancestor.
James was intrigued by the Targwynsâ ancestral land after briefly learning about it.
Laelia took out the jade pendant and looked at it, saying, âIâd love to give it to you, but my father said
itâs our familyâs heirloom, so I canât just give it away.â
James gently waved his hand and said, âIâm just curious about it. Itâs not that I really want it. Plus, it
may not even be useful to me.â
Laelia absentmindedly looked at the Burial Jade. With doubt on her pretty face, she said, âIâve no idea
what secret this jade pendant holds.â
James looked at it, and then a thought flashed in his mind. He suggested, âPerhaps it has something to
do with your familyâs ancestral land.â
âPerhaps.â
Laelia put away the jade pendant and did not think much of it anymore.
âYou shout rest well for the night. Iâll bring you to there tomorrow.â
âAlright.â James nodded.
