Chapter 2559
The Almighty Dragon General
The reports came in one after another.
The Empress had a solemn expression as she was brief on how their troops were faring.
Immediately, she issued an order, âGet the other three armies to gather in the Imperial Capital and tell
them to defend it with their lives.â
âUnderstood.â At that moment, the female general was on the way back to the country with her 100,000
surviving soldiers.
Half a month later, the female general arrived at the Imperial Capital.
She kneeled on the ground in the Sangria Palace.
âYour Highness, please forgive me for failing to repel Korinthâs troops.
Our army suffered heavy casualties during the battle that took place in Yantargh Canyon.
This man is the savior who prevented Korinthâs merciless army from wiping us out.
Without his help, Korinthâs army might have already reached the Imperial Capital by now.â James stood
in the palace hall, sweeping his gaze over the civil and military officials gathered.
All of them were beautiful women.
He felt entranced by the sight of so many gorgeous women gathered together.
To him, it was like looking at a mesmerizing landscape.
The Empressâ eyes were fixated on James.
She frowned after sensing that his energy was relatively meager and seeing that he was only at the
Mage Rank.
She questioned,â General, did you say he was the one that stopped the Korinth army?â The female
general replied respectfully, âThatâs right, Your Majesty.â The Empress frowned and said, âHeâs merely
at the Mage Rankâs First Stage.
As opposed to him, the Grand Marshal of Korinth has reached the Tribulation Rankâs Second Stage.
You said he prevented their army from continuing the attack.
I donât see how could he have stopped them with his level of strength.â âWhat do you mean?â The
female general considered the Empressâ statement.
During the confrontation between James and the Grand Martial, she had been injured and
unconscious.
Thus, she was unsure of what actually happened when the two fought.
At that moment, James stepped forward and replied, âYour Majesty, oneâs cultivation rank doesnât
represent their true strength.â The Empress did not respond to his declaration and turned to her
servants, âCome and show our benefactor the place where he may have succor.â Soon, several
beautiful maids came and led James out of the palace hall.
James also remained silent and turned around to follow them.
After James left, the Empress began to interrogate the female general.
The female general relayed everything she knew in great detail, including being saved by James.
Then, the Empress called for some of the surviving soldiers.
From the testimony of these soldiers, she learned that James was indeed the person that forced the
Grand Marshal of Korinth to retreat.
After learning of the truth, the Empress sighed in relief.
âWeâre safe, thanks to him.
Otherwise, we wouldâve been in dire straits by now.
âYouâre all dismissed.â The Empress stood up and left the palace hall.
Meanwhile, James had been shown his accommodation within the palace.
He was given an independent courtyard which was surrounded by lush greenery.
The birds sang beautiful melodies as they perched in the trees and the fragrance of flowers perfumed
the air.
James was sitting down to rest in the yard as he tried to get a sense of his surroundings.
He muttered, âThereâs nothing out of the ordinary here.
Why did they say that men canât survive in Sangria?â While he was deep in thought over the topic, a
group of people approached him.
The person in the lead was a woman wearing a golden dress with a crown atop her head.
Many beautiful court ladies followed behind her.
All of them had equally lovely and were on par with the Empress in terms of appearance.
However, they lacked the elegance and grace that she exuded.
âSir.â The Empress approached him with a charming smile.
She looked at James and gave him a slight bow as she said, âIâm very grateful for your assistance.
If it wasnât for your intervention, my country wouldâve been in ruins by now.
Youâre our countryâs benefactor, so do tell us if there is anything you would like.
After we have repaid your debt of kindness, we humbly request that you leave as soon as possible.
Otherwise, a curse will befall you.â
