CHAPTER 14

Engfa arrived alone at the construction site of Charlotte's house. Today Nudee did not participate, there was an event she had to attend while Apo had to take emergency leave. However,  it has become a habit for Engfa because every time she goes to a visit site, she rarely invites or asks Nudee and Apo to follow her because she doesn't want their work at the office to be interrupted.

Meanwhile, Charlotte and Mew arrived together. This time, Engfa was able to control all her feelings and emotions. She also did not want the same incident to happen again since she was also alone today. The three of them entered the site, Engfa handing out two safety helmets to Charlotte and her fiance, Mew. Mew quickly took them and continued to put them on for Charlotte. Engfa at that time continued to shift her gaze in another direction. She didn't want Mew's actions to make her jealous.

Charlotte also let herself be pampered like that but her eyes shifted to Engfa who had already turned her gaze in the other direction. She noticed that Engfa was a little uncomfortable so she opened the conversation.

" Wow Engfa, the progress of this house is really fast, I didn't expect it to reach this level "

Charlotte said, trying to win the woman's heart. Engfa just smiled at the compliment.

" Yes, I want to finish it as soon as possible. Since you and Mew have decided to us to finish it this year, so we will fulfill our promise "

" Hmm, it's okay Engfa, I don't want you to rush. Whatever you can do, just do it. I don't want to push you "

Charlotte added, making Engfa accept with an open heart. Regardless, Engfa still wanted to speed up the construction of this house because she remembered Mew's words that they both wanted to get married as soon as possible. If this house can be completed this year, then both of them can get married this year as well.

" Babe, it would be good if Engfa tried to finish this house early. Aren't we planning to get married this year if this house can be completed ? "

Charlotte and Engfa who heard those words, looked at each other briefly before Charlotte looked at Mew again. She almost stuttered to answer, but end up she just gave a soft smile. Not wanting things to get any more awkward, Engfa continues to be professional and takes Charlotte and Mew around the construction site. The three of them were giving each other opinions until suddenly Mew's phone rang. He answered the call. His face changed slightly as he exhaled tiredly. His head just nodded, listening to the voice behind the phone.

A few minutes later, Mew hung up. His eyes looked back at Charlotte and Engfa. His expression seemed to want to tell something

" Hmm babe, I think I have to go back to the office, I have an urgent case to take care of but I know there's still a lot you and Engfa need to talk about, right ? "

Mew said with a guilty tone. His hand gently held Charlotte's hand.

" Hmm Engfa, if I ask Charlotte to go home with you, is that okay ? If I don't disturb you "

Asked Mew again making Engfa was stunned for a moment by the man's help. Charlotte's facial expression also showed no reaction. Maybe Mew didn't know how to make a choice either. Engfa, who did not want to seem intolerant, responded with an open heart.

" Oh no problem. I'm okay if Charlotte is comfortable "

Engfa said trying to cheer everyone up despite the fact that she didn't want to. Charlotte who didn't expect to get such a response from her ex-lover just nodded in agreement.

Mew kissed his fiance's forehead softly before leaving. Now only Engfa and Charlotte were there, they both looked at each other before they both gave each other a small smile.

After almost two hours at the construction site, Engfa and Charlotte finally finished monitoring there. As it was almost 5.30 PM, Engfa told Charlotte that they should go home as she had to drop Charlotte home first, plus the location of the construction site to New York also took almost 1 hour to travel. She didn't want Mew to wait for his fiance's return.

" Charlotte, I think we should go back, it's getting late "

Charlotte who didn't realize it was already late finally had to agree. She sighed for a moment as she felt that today was a happy day for her since her meeting with Engfa two months ago. She was very impressed with the attitude of Engfa who ensured that she was safe and comfortable throughout the monitoring. She was also happy to see that Engfa was also very comfortable especially without the presence of Mew by her side.

They both continued their journey back to New York. Along the way, they feel free and happy when they see the surrounding scenery. The setting sun made Engfa focus on her driving. Her eyes momentarily moved towards Charlotte who was still enjoying the view outside the window.

" Hmm, it must be best if after work we can face a scene like this everyday , right ? "

Charlotte spoke up, turning her gaze towards Engfa who was just chuckling, her hands tightly gripping the steering wheel.

" Yeah, but soon you'll be living here, so after that you won't have to deal with the congestion like in New York anymore "

Charlotte laughed out loud as she looked at Engfa again.

" Yeah, I can't wait to live there. Thank you Engfa for being so tolerant of me, always listening to my opinions, I really appreciate it "

Engfa blushed at the compliment, a sweet smile appeared on her lips, she glanced at Charlotte before returning her gaze to the road.

" No problem Charlotte. That's my job. What the client wants, I have to follow in case it doesn't contradict my opinion "

Charlotte smiled widely.

After a few moments of comfortable silence, Engfa decided to ask a serious question.

" Charlotte, can I ask something ? "

Charlotte took a deep breath, feeling something, her expression thoughtful.

" Oh sure Engfa, what is that ? "

" Hmm why did you choose to leave me ? "

Charlotte knew Engfa wanted to know the real reason even though they had already broken up. Even though she had explained to Engfa that they both were not right for each other, she knew Engfa would not believe her.

" I know this has been going on for a long time and you've said that the two of us were never meant to be together. But I just want to know, other than that, is there any other reason why you made that decision ? "

Charlotte glared at Engfa who was waiting for her answer. Her eyes filled with guilt. She wasn't sure what to say. She couldn't possibly be honest about the real reason. Engfa will be very disappointed if she knows the real reason was because of the CEO position.

" But I think there must be no other reason, right ? After I found out you and Mew were engaged, I just realized what you said 5 years ago was actually true. The two of us really don't fit to each other "
