CHAPTER 16

Charlotte woke up in an unfamiliar place, disoriented and confused. To surprise, she found herself in a luxurious and opulent room, surrounded by luxurious furnishings and ornate decorations. As she began to regain her bearings, she realized she was in large estate. Confusion reigns in her mind as she tried to understand how she end up in such luxurious surrounding.

As she tried to get out of bed to explore the room, a sharp pain shot through her head, making her dizzy with every movement. Frustrated, she finally gave up the idea and struggled to sit up, choosing instead to lie still. Fighting her unease, the door cracked open and her heart raced as she saw Engfa enter the room. A glass of water and a bottle of pill in her hand.

" You should try to rest and not move around too much Charlotte "

Engfa advised gently.

" Here, take this medicine, it should relieve your headache "

Charlotte just accepted her help, nodding reluctantly then she swallowed the medicine, hoping it would relieve the throbbing headache threatening overwhelm her. Engfa stayed by Charlotte's side. When that woman finished, she took the glass from her and then looked Charlotte with concern and said

" Are you hungry ? I've prepared breakfast for you "

" Oh, I'm bothering you, but I'm not really hungry yet. Hmm Engfa, what happened to me last night ? "

" Oh, you're unconscious. You were very drunk last night, Charlotte. But I can't take you back to your own home because you passed out. I don't even know Mew's house. I can't ask Tina and Heidi for help, they're both were drunk too, so I decided to take you back to my house "

Engfa explained to avoid misunderstandings between them.

" Hmm I see.... Thank you Engfa, I hope I didn't do anything wrong last night, hmm did I ? "

" Hmm did you ? "

Engfa teased, chuckled.

" Engfa......"

" No Charlotte, you didn't do anything, don't worry "

Charlotte suddenly remembered Mew, she didn't want Mew to worry so she tried to find her cellphone. Engfa was there, noticing the woman's anxiety.

" Hmm why ? what are you looking for ? "

" Engfa, where is my phone ? I have to call Mew, I need to tell him where I am now. Mew must be worried about me "

" Oh I forgot to say, your handbag might be with Tina or Heidi, so your cell phone maybe with them, but last night I already texted Tina, saying you were with me and I asked her to tell Mew about your whereabouts. But if you want to call Mew, you can use my phone "

" Oh it's okay...... thank you again "

Charlotte was just overwhelmed by all the help that Engfa gave her. Although that woman had been hurt a lot, she was still the same, she still treated her well, never tries to hurt her and that made her feel even more regret for what happened five years ago.

Engfa was still staring at her while Charlotte found herself at a loss for words. There were actually so many questions she wanted to ask, so many thoughts swirling through her mind but the words eluded her.

Engfa's voice broke the silence as she got up from the bed.

" Hmm so are you sure you're not hungry yet ? "

Her words were laced with sincerity but Charlotte just shook her head. A grateful smile tugged at the corner of her lips.

" Yes, you should trust me, Engfa "

Charlotte's words made Engfa laugh again.

" Okay fine, but if you're hungry, just call me, I'm outside "

Charlotte nodded in agreement.

" Now close your eyes and get some sleep "

Engfa offered a small smile before she started walking out of the room. Charlotte's heart did not stop beating even more when Engfa was near her. She was getting more confused with herself, why did she suddenly feel like this, what exactly happened ? There was no way she would fall in love her ex-lover again. Oh no ! It's impossible, her heart was now completely owned by Mew, how could she have feelings for Engfa. She shook her head not wanting to think about it anymore.

Charlotte came out of the room after almost three hours of sleep after swallowing painkillers. Her eyes wildly searched for a glimpse of the woman but she was nowhere to be seen, she managed to look at the wall clock which was almost 11 AM.

" Hmm where did Engfa go ? she said she was outside, hmm did she went to work but it's the weekend "

Charlotte whispered quietly. She began to look around, grumbling when she saw the size of the house that Engfa owned. Feeling impressed and amazed, she never though, Engfa already had such a luxurious house but when she looked back, Charlotte realized that all the decorations, house design and landscaping were all her ideas for Engfa during they were together. She didn't expect Engfa still use that sketch for her dream house now. She smiled widely.

" Hey, have you been awaken for a long time ? "

Asked Engfa who suddenly appeared behind her.

" Oh my god ! Engfa, you surprised me "

Charlotte said, still looking surprised. She then looked at Engfa who was dressed in gym clothes, she suspected Engfa must have come from the gym.

" Oops sorry Char, I'm from the gym, upstairs. I thought you were still sleeping, that's why I decided to work out first "

" Oh no wonder I couldn't find you "

Charlotte replied, still looking at Engfa.

Engfa started heading to the kitchen. She then reheated the breakfast specially made for that woman and made a cup of coffee. Engfa turned to Charlotte, calling her name.

" Come here Charlotte, you must be hungry right ? I have prepared breakfast for you "

Charlotte approached Engfa, saw some of her favorite breakfasts on the table and a cup of coffee for her. She was even more moved, Engfa still remembered her favorite breakfast.

" Engfa.... Do you still remember my favorite breakfast ? "

Charlotte asked, wanting to be sure. Engfa blushed. She really wanted to pat her forehead because it was too obvious.

" Oh well, I actually don't know what to make for breakfast. Since I only have bread and eggs in the kitchen, so I decided to make an egg sandwich for you. I didn't think you still like the egg sandwich "

Charlotte quickly approached her and hugged the woman tightly, causing Engfa to flinch.

" Thank you Engfa..... you know you always good to me, you know how to make me happy, thank you...."

" Hey Char, I'm sweating, please don't "

Engfa said as her hands tried to break the hug but the hug was still tight so she finally just let it go.

" Noooo... you still smell good and you still use the same perfume, you know much I love this perfume around you "

Damn, Engfa felt trapped again. How could she have forgotten that her favorite perfume, Tom Ford Soleil Neigi, was also Charlotte's favorite. Charlotte broke the hug and looked into her eyes making her heart beating fast.

" And this house too Engfa, you used my sketch for your house, right ? "

Charlotte asked again, her eyes began to shift to Engfa's lips who were still trying to find a sentence to respond.

" Uh...Hmm Charlotte, I.... I think you should eat now, the food is almost cold "

Engfa sat down trying to forget what had happened. Charlotte took a short breath, realizing she shouldn't have gone too far, she had made Engfa uncomfortable.

" You have to eat a lot, after that I'll send you home okay ? "

" Uh, it's okay, I can go back by a taxi "

Engfa glanced at Charlotte who started to sit in front of her.

" Hmm no, you're not completely well yet, I wont't let you go back by taxi anyway, I'll send you back to your home "

" Hmm okay Engfa "

Charlotte nodded and chewed her food and Engfa breathed a sigh of relief, hoping Charlotte wouldn't think about anything else.
