CHAPTER 17

Engfa and Charlotte's relationship is getting closer, it can be said that almost every day they will say hello or make a short call. Sometimes they will go out to lunch together while discussing the developments of Charlotte's house. This is increasingly suspicious to Apo and Nudee who have begun to feel a significant change in Engfa since getting close to Charlotte. But they both don't want to be suspicious because Charlotte has a fiancé, so their relationship may be nothing more than a friend.

Engfa was still grinning as she replied to Charlotte's message. Charlotte asked her to go to dinner with her tonight and this made her very excited. Apo and Nudee were still sitting in their chairs, facing their boss after the three of them had just finished the meeting.

Apo and Nudee looked at each other, each afraid to ask because they were worried that Engfa would misunderstand, but as friends, they didn't want Engfa to get hurt or disappointed, so Nudee started asking.

" Hmm Engfa, who are you texting with ? I see you can't stop smiling "

Asked Nudee curious, Apo continued,

" Yes, are you dating someone ? Why didn't you tell us "

Engfa put her cell phone aside as she looked at her two best friends.

" No, I'm not. I was just texting with Charlotte, she asked me out for dinner tonight "

Apo and Nudee looked at each other then turned back to Engfa who was still smiling widely.

" Hmm Charlotte and you are really close now, as far as I know you rarely want to be close to our clients unless it's work related "

Apo agreed with Nudee's words, Engfa stared at them both.

" I know what you want to say. Don't worry, I and Charlotte are just friends. I won't interfere with their relationship either "

Nudee reached for her best friend's hand, not wanting Engfa to get the wrong idea.

" Engfa, I'm sorry okay. We're both just worry about you, you know how much we love you. We don't want you to be disappointed. That's all "

" Hmm it's okay, you guys don't have to worry. Thank you for always taking care of me, I appreciate it. I love you both too "

Engulf replied with a sincere smile towards the two of them before Apo and Nudee asked themselves to disperse.

That evening, Engfa took Charlotte to the beach before the two of them stopped for dinner at their favorite Thai restaurant. Engfa wanted to see the sunset, her head was a bit tangled with problems in several projects as well as her relationship with Charlotte, who she felt was getting closer. Nudee and Apo were right, she needed to keep her boundaries. After all, she didn't want to be hurt again by the same person, but her relationship with Charlotte was getting closer now. Since Charlotte came back into her life, her life had become better and more manageable. Charlotte's presence had given her the motivation to keep fighting.

As she enjoyed the sunset, her cheek was gently pinched. Charlotte smiled sweetly at her.

" Engfa, are you okay ? You're quiet today, what's the problem ? "

Charlotte asked as her eyes gaze softly at the woman's face who was still smiling at her.

" Hmm it's nothing, I'm just thinking about work. Anyway thank you Charlotte, for accompany me to come here for a while "

" Hmm there's no problem at all, we're friends right "

Charlotte answered again as she handed the food to Engfa, Engfa took it and chewed.

" Char... do you really want us to be friends ? yes, I know we've spent a lot of time together, hanging out together, but is Mew okay with it ? "

Charlotte was silent, her gaze still on Engfa.

" Well, I'm your ex-lover. Even everyone still doesn't know I'm your ex, with our close relationship like this, I'm worried everyone will misunderstand "

Engfa said again, Charlotte trying to find a sentence to reply.

" Hmm Engfa, what we did was not wrong. We have no relationship. You and I are just friends. Mew must understand, so don't worry okay "

Charlotte held Engfa's hand tightly, causing Engfa's heart to beat faster. Every touch from the woman made her unable to stop loving her ex. But Engfa understood that she would never be able to have Charlotte again. Seeing Charlotte who already find her happiness was enough to make her happy.

She also still respected Charlotte and Mew's relationship, she knew Charlotte no longer had any feelings for her and because of that she finally accepted Charlott as her friend again.

" I hope so, I hope I didn't ruin your relationship with him. Besides, I've moved on and you don't even have feelings for me so what do I have to worry about, right ? "

Charlotte was just silent, she was trying to control her emotions. She wondered why she suddenly felt disappointed when Engfa said that. She should be relieved and grateful that Engfa no longer has feelings for her.

" Oh Char, does Mew know that we're both going out ? Have you told him yet ? "

Charlotte slapped her forehead hard, forgetting to tell Mew about her whereabouts. This was how many times she repeated the same mistake. Mew would definitely be very angry with her. She bite her lower lip, Engfa next to her still with a confused face.

" Hmm, did you forget to tell him again ? "

Charlotte just grinned.

" It's okay, I can text him now "

Charlotte blamed herself, she didn't understand why she always forgot Mew, especially when she was with Engfa, as if Mew didn't exist in her life. Before, there was no problem at all. Mew was always the first person she would look for, but everything had changed now because Engfa was the first person she would look for.

Mew also often reprimands her behavior for spending a lot time with Engfa, but Charlotte often gives the same reason that she just wants to discuss about her house.

While they were enjoying the view of the sunset, Engfa saw a message from Apo on her phone screen

Apo to Engfa :

" Engfa, are you going out with Charlotte ? If not, I'll send you the food for dinner tonight "

Engfa quickly respond

" It's okay Apo, I'm with Charlotte now. We'll have dinner later. I'll see you tomorrow okay "

Apo to Engfa :

" Okay, see you tomorrow "

Charlotte turned to Engfa who was grinning while her hand was typing on Apo's text. She really wanted to know who the Engfa text was with.

" Who are you texting with Engfa ? "

Engfa finished the conversation with Apo and then turned her attention back to Charlotte

" Oh that's Apo, he asked me if I went out with you or not. If not, he wants to send me to dinner tonight "

Engfa answered, this made Charlotte's heart suddenly burn. She replied in an annoyed tone.

" Hmm, he really cares about you "

Engfa raised her eyebrows, confused.

" What do you mean Char ? "

" Well, even after work he still cares about you. It's rare that I see an employee like that or you really have a relationship with him ? "

Charlotte admitted that she couldn't deny her jealousy there but she tried to control it so that Engfa wouldn't look strange with her attitude.

" Hey, why are you asking me like that ? Char, Apo is my PA, if you see that he cares about me, that's normal, that's his job, right ? "

Engfa's reply made Charlotte pause for a moment. The expression on her face was not okay, causing Engfa to slowly pull the woman's face away and look at her.

" Char, what's wrong ? Hmm okay, let say if I really have a relationship with Apo ? Do you don't like it ? I thought you would support me. You say you're my friend, but if you react like this, I'm a bit disappointed "

Engfa tried to sulk until Charlotte realized she was overreacting. Engfa was right, why was she overreacting, Engfa was just a friend and ex-lover so she had no right to stop her if Engfa and Apo were really together. But why did it have to be with Apo ?

Engfa suddenly laughed out loud making Charlotte next to her frown.

" Why Engfa ? Why are you laughing ? "

" Nothing just your moody face is so funny, I just want to laugh "

Charlotte made an annoying face then Engfa quickly got up from the bench while gently pulling the woman's hand.

" Let's go ! my stomach is rumbling, I'm hungry "

Charlotte nodded with a smile, just following Engfa's words, after all they had been there for almost an hour. The sun had set, the atmosphere was also starting to get dark so it was too dangerous if they lingered there.

" Okay, let's go "
