CHAPTER 23

Nudee and Apo arrived at the hospital, Engfa was immediately taken to the emergency ward because was worried about what would happen to her since she was seriously injured. Nudee sobbed, unable to control her guilt towards Engfa. She shouldn't have allowed Engfa to meet the man since Mew's condition was unmanageable.

" This is all my fault, if I hadn't let her meet him, all this wouldn't have happened like this "

Said Nudee who was sitting, still crying. Apo next to her tried to calm her down.

" It's not your fault Nudee, we were just careless "

" Engfa almost died Apo, if we hadn't come in, I don't know what would have happened to her. I don't understand why Mew would act like that "

Apo shook his head, also not sure why Mew would act like that. Engfa didn't say anything either that she had a problem with one of them. After almost two hours of waiting, the doctor finally came out of the emergency room. Nudee and Apo hurried towards the doctor. Their expressions were full of concern.

" Doctor, how is my friend's condition ? "

Ask Nudee, the Doctor looked at their faces calmly

" The patient is still unconscious but her condition is stable. Fortunately, the patient only suffered serious external injuries. There were no internal injuries but if the patient was conscious, she may have difficulty sitting and standing as there are many bruises all over her body "

Apo and Nudee breathed a sigh of relief, luckily there were no internal injuries on Engfa.

" Oh okay, can we see her, doctor ? "

Ask Nudee again.

" Yes, but we need to transfer the patient to the regular ward first, we will tell you later "

" Okay. Thank you doctor "

The doctor who treated Engfa just now left, Nudee and Apo hugged, grateful. Luckly they both acted quickly, otherwise Engfa would have suffered worse injuries.

Charlotte and Heidi were eating at a cafe near their office. After almost a week of her engagement breaking off, Charlotte finally decided to come into the office because she had taken too much sick leave until her father, Mr Aus found out about it.

But after finding out that Charlotte had broken off her engagement with Mew, Mr Aus finally understood that his daughter needed time to heal but he was a bit confused why their engagement had broken off. The same goes for Heidi, who is the first to know about Charlotte and Mew's broken engagement.

She looked at Charlotte who was still eating. Even though it had been almost a week, her eyes still looked swollen and puffy.

" Hmm Char, you haven't told me yet why did you break off your engagement with Mew. Before this, you two were okay. Why did you suddenly decide to break off your engagement ? "

Charlotte swallowed the food in her mouth, was silent for a moment, she knew she had to be honest. It had been a week, everyone was still waiting for her answer. She didn't want everyone to keep guessing anymore.

" Hmm I think if I told you all this, you definitely wouldn't believe me "

Heidi's brow furrowed, confused.

" Okay... so what's the reason ? "

Charlotte took a deep breath before saying again

" Because I still love Engfa "

Heidi raised her eyebrows confusedly, trying to understand what Charlotte was saying.

" Hmm still love Engfa ? What do you mean you still love Engfa ? "

Charlotte chuckled, she was sure Heidi must be confused.

" Look, you must be confused, right ? Engfa, Engfa Waraha, she's my ex-lover, the only woman I've ever fallen in love with, there's no one else but her, Heidi "

Heidi's mouth dropped open, it was hard to believe what she was hearing. She didn't think Engfa was her best friend's ex-lover all this time. So Charlotte wasn't really "straight" Oh my God !

" So you all know each other all this time ? So the ex-lover you told me about, the one you left for the CEO position is actually Engfa Waraha ?! "

Charlotte just nodded shyly.

" Oh my god Char, I didn't expect it, so you two haven't seen each other for a long time ? "

Charlotte replied still blushing.

" What ?! Five years Char ! but I don't understand how you realize that you still love her even though you've been apart for five years "

Ask Heidi who was still shocked and confused. The surprises she received today were multiple. First, Charlotte broke off her engagement with Mew. Second, Engfa Waraha is Charlotte's ex-lover and after this, what surprises will she face again.

" Hmm I'm not sure Heidi, at first I tried to deny it all, I didn't believe that I still loved Engfa because I thought we had moved on and I only loved Mew but over time, I became too obsessed with her. My mind only thought about her until I realized I still loved her, I wanted her in my life "

Heidi listened intently to the woman's words, she asked again

" Then when did you realize that you really loved her ? "

" Three weeks ago, when I went to visit her. I kissed her, Heidi "

Now it was the third surprise for Heidi. Heidi really couldn't believe it. She tried to digest every story Charlotte told her but her mind was already full of surprises.

" You're really crazy Char, I don't know what else to say "

" Yes, I'm really crazy, I'm crazy about Engfa, Heidi "

Heidi shook her head, unable to take it anymore, the food in front of her no longer wanted to eat.

" So what about Engfa ? Does she know ? "

Charlotte shrugged, not sure either

" I'm not sure if she realizes or not. After what happened, I just ignored her because I couldn't believe what I had done "

Heidi continued to shake her head, she really didn't know what else to say.

" Char, I think I need some entertainment, all your stories make me think this is all nonsense ! I need some entertainment "

Charlotte just laughs, she knew she would definitely get such a response like that from her best friend. Her eyes looked at Heidi who started to scroll through today's sensational news on her mobile phone.

" Hmm Heidi, can you stop reading all the hot gossip, I don't understand why you need all that "

The woman didn't answer her question, in fact she was confused by Heidi's slightly changed reaction.

" Heidi, what's wrong with you ? You look so serious "

" Char.... I think this is like..."

Heidi was still shocked by what she read on her mobile phone until she couldn't continue her words

" What's wrong Heidi ? Give me your phone ! "

Charlotte replied who quickly grabbed the phone from the woman and she also read it. As she read the news, her breath caught in her throat, her heart was beating fast, she couldn't believe the news she was reading. She looked back at the phone screen, hoping that the news she was reading was not true.

Heidi asked stammering

" That was Mew who attacked Engfa, right Char ? "

Charlotte immediately got up, she wanted to go to the hospital but was quickly stopped by Heidi.
