CHAPTER 25

The sound of birds chirping echoed through the trees and the gentle breeze brought the fresh breath of a new day. In the hospital room, Charlotte had just woken up from a short nap while Engfa was still lying on the bed. Her breathing was steady but not yet fully awake.

Charlotte sat next to her, her eyes filled with love and concern. She slowly adjusted the blanket and checked Engfa's health monitoring equipment. Nudee came again today but this time Chompu came along. Chompu had just found out at the last minute from Nudee but couldn't come yesterday because of urgent matters. They entered the room carrying breakfast and a bag of fruit. They walked towards Charlotte and slowly placed the purchased items on the table.

" Charlotte, eat first, you have to eat. You haven't eaten since yesterday "

Nudee said with a worried face.

" Thank you Nudee "

Charlotte said weakly

" Engfa seems to be getting better "

Chompu said who was still shocked by the news she heard yesterday. Charlotte smiled tiredly but still maintained a gentle look in her eyes.

" Yes, Engfa seems to be getting better, I hope she gets better soon "

Charlotte got up quickly and sat on the sofa, eating breakfast while chatting with Nudee and Chompu.

" Charlotte, after eating you go back first. Chompu and I can take care of Engfa today "

" It's okay guys. I already told Heidi to bring my things, I won't leave Engfa as long as she's like this "

Nudee and Chompu looked at each other, they just nodded, not wanting to argue.

" Okay but you have to promise that you have to take care of yourself too. If you don't get enough rest, you'll get sick. Engfa needs you "

Nudee reminded Charlotte. That woman was touched by the treatment she received even though she was the cause of everything.

Charlotte was still by Engfa's side, Nudee and Chompu had left because they had to go back to work. Charlotte took Engfa's hand and pressed it to her cheek, feeling the fragile warmth of the person she loved the most. Looking at Engfa's pale but beautiful face, Charlotte whispered in a soft but emotional voice.

" Engfa, do you know you are the most beautiful woman I have ever met. I love everything about you. I love your eyes, your nose, the taste of your lips, they are so amazing. Please wake up, I miss you so much "

Not long after, Charlotte felt Engfa's fingers move, she tried to stare at the woman's face, observing carefully. Her heart pounded when she saw Engfa slowly opening her eyes.

" Engfa... are you awake ? "

Charlotte asked with a wide smile on her lips, waiting for the woman's answer.

" Engfa.. wait, let me call the doctor for a moment "

Before Charlotte could call the doctor outside, Engfa held her hand, her name was whispered softly.

" Char...... is that you ? "

Charlotte looked back at Engfa's face, tears of joy streaming down her cheeks.

" Yes Engfa. It's me Charlotte, I'm here "

Engfa who was still half-conscious smiled broadly at her. Charlotte held the woman's hand again, wanting to tell her that she would never leave her again. Never again !

" I thought I would never see you again...... I miss you Char..."

Charlotte's heart beat fast, she didn't think Engfa was still thinking about her after almost a month of not seeing her.

" I miss you too Engfa, I miss you so much, don't ever scare me like this again "

They each looked at each other before Charlotte hugged that woman. Engfa finally felt an incredible peace in that hug. She now realized that Charlotte was still an important person in her life. She was afraid of losing that woman again and hoped that everything would end.

Day by day, Engfa's condition improved, she was treated with so much love that she, herself was not sure who the real doctor was. The bruises on her body were also disappearing and fading but she still felt pain, especially in her stomach. Today she was allowed to go home after almost a week in the hospital. She looked at Charlotte who was busy preparing porridge for her in the kitchen. She smiled softly at the woman who still hadn't stopped taking good care of her until Apo and Nudee had no chance to take care of her.

Her mind began to remember the incident that happened to her almost a week ago. She still wondered why Mew could act like that towards her. What exactly happened between Charlotte and Mew. Charlotte was also still silent, she wanted to ask but seeing that she wasn't completely well, she changed her mind again. Besides, she was still traumatized by what Mew did to her. Now Mew is still in police custody because their case is still under investigation since Engfa had just regained consciousness.

While Charlotte was in the kitchen at that time, she looked at Engfa who was in the living room, she saw Engfa as if she was thinking about something. Since the porridge she made was ready, she immediately filled it into a bowl and brought it to Engfa.

" Hey, are you okay ? "

Charlotte asked softly, stopping Engfa's daydreaming for a moment. Charlotte sat next to Engfa.

" Hmm, it's nothing. What are you cooking ? "

Engfa said, her eyes looking at the bowl of porridge.

" I made porridge for you, you still need to abstain, the bruises on your body haven't gone away yet "

" Hmm okay Doctor Charlotte "

Engfa's teasing made Charlotte blush.

" Okay, let's eat, I'll feed you "

" Hey, it's okay, I can eat by myself "

Engfa stopped her, she didn't want to continue to trouble Charlotte anymore because from beginning to end, this woman took good care of her.

Engfa laughed out loud at the woman's antics that never stopped making her laugh.
