CHAPTER 27

The next morning, soft light seeped through the curtains, casting a warm glow throughout the quiet room. Charlotte slowly woke up from her sleep, soft rays falling on the sheets, illuminating the space around her. She noticed the absence of the clothes on her body and the sensation of the fresh morning air against her skin.

Turning her gaze to the side, she saw Engfa lying beside her, still in a peaceful sleep. A small smile spread across her lips as she stared at Engfa, feeling a deep happiness flowing through her body. She couldn't deny the simple joy of sharing this intimate moment with her.

Charlotte pulled a strand of hair from the woman's beautiful face and gave her a soft kiss on her forehead. Her heart finally felt relieved after pouring out everything that had been pent up in her heart all this time and she was grateful that Engfa still gave her a second chance to atone for all the mistakes she had made before.

Seeing Engfa who was still asleep, Charlotte quickly got out of bed, put on her clothes, and went straight to the kitchen to make a special breakfast for her special someone, Engfa Waraha. She decided to make Engfa's favorite breakfast, which was pancakes with scrambled eggs and bacon. Engfa really liked this combination because it could give her energy while working.

While making pancakes, her body was hugged gently by someone from behind. Charlotte could already guess who it was,

" Good morning, what are you cooking ? "

Engfa asked, still smiling. Charlotte turned her body to face Engfa. She saw Engfa smiling sweetly at her. Both of her hands were raised and hugged Engfa's neck. Spatula still at her hand. She returned Engfa's smile by giving the woman a kiss on the cheek, making Engfa blush.

Charlotte couldn't deny how happy she was because she could finally look at this woman's face as much as she wants

" Good morning, I made a special breakfast for you "

" Wow, I can't wait to taste it "

Charlotte just smiled, letting go of her hug and went back to preparing pancakes for Engfa. Engfa looked at the dining table where several pieces of pancakes, srambled eggs, and bacon were already served.

" Hey, you made pancakes with scrambled eggs and bacon ? This is my favorite Charlotte ! "

Engfa said, an excited voice was heard there.

" Yes, I know Engfa "

" Huh, you know ? "

Engfa asked a little surprised. A wide smile spread across her thin lips.

" Of course I know. You thought after five years apart, I will forget all about you ? No Engfa. I still remember all about you Engfa "

Engfa lowered her head in shame, she did not expect that Charlotte still remembered everything about her. She thought that Charlotte had really forgotten, she was grateful that what she had been thinking all this time was not true.

" Okay, everything is ready. Let's eat ! "

Charlotte said while placing a plate of pancakes and two cups of hot chocolate for the two of them. Engfa looked at all the food served on the table, her face filled with joy.

" Thank you, Char, these are all my favorites "

Engfa replied, touched by the woman's efforts.

" I told you that I wanted to make a special breakfast for you. So this is it "

" Thank you Char... you are the best ! "

While the two of them were having breakfast, Charlotte suddenly wondered what their relationship status was now. With what happened last night, she was very curious about Engfa's decision considering that she had expressed all her feelings for that woman. Now it was Engfa's turn to be honest with her. Did Engfa still have feelings for her or was she just being used as a stopover for Engfa ?

" Engfa ? "

Charlotte finally said, breaking the silence. Her voice was soft but serious.

" What are we ? "

Charlotte looked at Engfa, slightly surprised

" Hmm, what do you mean ? "

Engfa asked with a confused reaction on her face. Charlotte hesitated, her heart pounding. She wanted to know where they stood.

" I mean after everything, after last night, what are we now ? "

Her voice trembled slightly, revealing the worry that was building up inside her.

" Plus, I already told you everything about the reason of my engagement, about what happened between us five years ago but now I want to know from your side too. I don't want what happened between us last night to make you have to take care of my heart "

Engfa smiled softly as if trying to lighten the mood

" We're friends, Charlotte "

Those words hit Charlotte like a punch in the gut. Friends ? After everything they shared last night and the past few months, the closeness, the deep conversations, and the way Engfa cared for her felt so much more than just a friendship.

" Just... friends huh ? "

Charlotte repeated, her voice thick with pain. She didn't want to sound desperate but disappointment clouded her expression. Engfa noticed the pain in Charlotte's eyes. She knew what had happened made Charlotte want more than that. She chuckled inwardly because she just wanted to see Charlotte's reaction. She wanted to know how the woman would feel if she set their status as "friends" only.

Taking a deep breath, Charlotte gathered her courage.

" What if I want to be more than just friends ? "

Engfa couldn't hold back the drama she was trying to create anymore when she saw Charlotte's sad face almost shedding tears. This also made her feel completely wrong. She laughed out loud until she confused Charlotte in front of her.

" Why are you laughing Engfa ? I'm serious ? "

Charlotte asked, not understanding Engfa's behavior. Engfa, who was still laughing, got up from her chair and headed towards Charlotte. She looked at the woman's face and gently held her face. Charlotte still had a confused look on her face.

" Charr... with what happened last night, do you still think I only see you as a friend ? "

Charlotte frowned, getting more confused.

" What did you just say ? "

Engfa laughed, realizing that Charlotte didn't understand. She leaned a little closer, her voice playful.

" It means I accept you as my lover again, we getback, Charlotte "

Engfa felt a flutter of shyness but couldn't help enjoying the shocked expression on Charlotte's face.

" Is that true, Engfa ? So you still love me ? You do ? "

" Yes Charr, I still love you. What I said to you all this time was just a lie. I still can't move on from you, I still can't forget you and I still love you from the first day we met until now. I'm still waiting for you to come back to me but I really didn't think you'd finally come back to me, I felt like I was dreaming. I thought that I wouldn't see you again "

" No Engfa ! you're not dreaming, I'm here, I'm back "

Charlotte and Engfa looked at each other and for the first time they felt like forever. Charlotte felt a wave of peace wash over her. Things were finally starting to feel right. She had Engfa in her life again and now she had the chance to show Engfa how much she cared about her.

" I love you Engfa, I love you more than you know "

Charlotte confessed

" I love you too Charlotte, more than anything "
