CHAPTER 8

While waiting for Engfa, Charlotte looked at the menu she wanted to order. Finally, iced green tea for herself, hot chocolate for Engfa and two croissants for their dessert. After all the drinks and food arrived, her eyes focused on the hot chocolate ordered for Engfa. She grinned, remembering that Engfa really liked hot chocolate and that woman was not a coffee fan either. After 10 minutes, Engfa arrived and when she entered the main door of the cafe, Charlotte was only stunned and amazed by Engfa's extraordinary beauty who was only wearing a white t-shirt, covered with a leather jacket, skinny jeans and Red Wing brand safety shoes on her feet that making her heart not stop beating.

Engfa arrived at the table,

" Sorry Charlotte, I'm late. How long have you been here ? "

" Oh no, I just arrived "

Charlotte replied with a smile. Engfa returned her smile before sitting back on Charlotte's front seat.

" By the way, I ordered hot chocolate for you, your favorite right ? "

Engfa froze for a moment, she didn't think Charlotte still remembered her favorite drink.

" Oh thanks but I prefer coffee actually "

Engfa answered softly makes Charlotte was a bit surprised. As far as she knows, Engfa doesn't like coffee and that's why she never orders coffee for her.

" Oh really, how about we order another one ? "

" Hey, it's okay. Hot chocolate is fine "

Engfa quickly grabbed her hot chocolate and sipped it.

" Hm that's so good ! I approve this one "

Charlotte just grinned sheepishly at the compliment before she asked again

" Hmm by the way Engfa, since when you like drink a coffee ? as far as I know, you don't like at all "

Engfa was silent for a moment before her gaze shifted to Charlotte

" Well people can change Charlotte, same goes to me and I'm glad I changed "

Engfa's words made Charlotte even more guilty. She knows she can't be angry or upset if Engfa had changed because she had changed too, especially her heart. It had been several years since she removed Engfa from her life, so if there had been any change in the woman, it was actually caused by herself. Herself !

" Hmm, I'm glad you changed too "

Charlotte whispered to herself.

" Actually, I learned to drink this coffee because I always work late into the night. Working eight hours isn't enough for me to get all my work done, so drinking coffee helps me stay energized, but I still like hot chocolate anyway "

Engfa explained, she didn't want Charlotte to think that this change was because of her.

" So what do we want to talk about today ? "

Engfa tried to change the topic, she didn't want the meeting between of them today to be more awkward.

" Oh, I saw the new plan you emailed me earlier, I think everything was okay, nothing needs to be changed. For now I think we just have to visit the site. Hmm so when you free Engfa ? "

" Hmm, where is the location ? "

" Brooklyn "

Charlotte noticed that Engfa's expression changed slightly

" Brooklyn ? "

Charlotte just nodded. She actually already knew what was in the woman's mind.

" Hmm since when did you like dense areas like Brooklyn, Charlotte ? "

Engfa asked, full of confusion. Charlotte just giggled.

" Engfa, as you said, people can change, so am I, I think Brooklyn is one of the safest places, close to New York, not too far from my office, from my parents' house so I think it's the good location "

Engfa was silent for a moment, her eyes still did not move from looking at Charlotte.

" Hmm yeah, I know...... I know you've changed. And I'm so happy for you Charlotte "

Engfa admitted, her voice barely above a whisper, making Charlotte shiver and making her feel even more guilty. She didn't expect that much honesty from Engfa.

" Thanks Engfa. So when can we visit the site ? "

" Oh wait, I need to check my schedule first "

Charlotte saw Engfa focused on her cell phone looking up her work schedule. The woman's behavior made Charlotte giggle causing Engfa to turn to her.

" Why Charlotte ? Is there something funny ? "

" Nothing, I thought you've changed completely, look at you now, you're still the same, you're still forgetful "

" Uh no, I just don't remember all my work. Usually all these things, my PA and my secretary keep reminding me, if they're not with me, of course I have to check myself "

Engfa explained the details, she didn't want Charlotte to misunderstand her.

" Okay how about this Wednesday ? Are you free ? "

" Yes I'm free so I'll give you the location later, okay ? "

" Alright Charlotte "

And for the first time, they both felt more comfortable even though it was their second meeting after five years.
