She hesitated for a moment before stepping into the lift meant for the upper management.

The group of employees noticed this and some of them immediately felt unhappy. Xiao Aiting immediately spoke up for them. “Fang Xinxin doesn’t have any title whatsoever in the Sheng Shi Group. What right does she have to take that lift?”

“That’s right.” The rest of the employees were about to be late but could only wait for the elevator. They suppressed their anger silently.

Bai Jingrou watched as Fang Xinxin stepped into the lift and wanted to follow. However, the bodyguard standing by the side immediately stopped her. “My apologies, Miss. Please show me your upper management staff pass.”

“I don’t have it…”

“In that case, you can not take this lift.” The bodyguard handled this matter professionally.

Bai Jingrou pointed at Fang Xinxin. “Why is she allowed to, then? She isn’t an upper management staff either.”

The bodyguard responded. “She is our CEO’s future wife. Her face itself is proof of her identity.”

“I’m Bai Jingrou, the Bai family’s adopted daughter. Could you make a concession for me?”

“Please head to the employee’s lift on the right.” The bodyguard made a ‘please’ gesture.

Bai Jingrou was stifled with anger. She noticed that the crowd of employees were all smiling in amusement as though they were mocking her. She suffered a blow internally. Her expression was cold. “You’re just a small bodyguard. Who gave you the courage to look down on people and treat them differently?”

“My apologies.” The bodyguard explained helplessly. “I don’t wish to make things difficult for you, either. However, these are the CEO’s orders. I have no choice but to abide by them.”

Everyone understood through his words that Bai Qinghao’s relationship with Bai Jingrou was poor. Additionally, the Bai family’s adopted daughter did not have much value in the Bai family.

Fang Xinxin had pressed on the lift button to keep the doors open. “If Miss Bai won’t take this lift, I’ll head upstairs first.”

Bai Jingrou’s complexion alternated between red and white in humiliation. She approached the employees’ lift on the right. There was a long queue and it was too awkward for her to cut the queue.

Everyone’s gaze left her wishing that she could stuff her head into the ground.

She was angered to the point of wanting to take the stairs. However, the fashion design department was on the thirty-first floor. She had a pair of heels on and could not make it that far.

There were five minutes left before work would begin. If she was late on her first day of work, she would leave a poor impression on her superiors and colleagues.

She was frustrated and helpless. At this moment, Xiao Aiting waved at her from inside the lift. “Miss Bai, please come in.”

“Hey, it isn’t right to cut the queue.” Some of the people in the line were upset.

“I’ll give my space up to her. Will that do?” Xiao Aiting stepped out of the lift and allowed Bai Jingrou in.

She stepped into the office marked as the fashion design department.

The moment it was 8:00 a.m., Bai Jingrou stepped into the office.

Several office tables were arranged into a neat row and there was only one empty seat left.

With their appearance, everyone immediately turned to look at the both of them.

A middle-aged man dressed in a black suit with a blue tie was waiting for them. He introduced himself. “I am the Sheng Shi Group’s Vice-President, Yang Tian. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Miss Fang, Miss Bai.”

It was clear that he knew both of them.

Bai Jingrou smiled gracefully. “Nice to meet you, Vice-President Yang.”

“Nice to meet you,” Fang Xinxin also greeted him politely.

“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. I’m late!” Xiao Aiting ran into the office urgently.

Yang Tian frowned sternly. “It is inappropriate to act this brashly.”
