19. Haldi and Wedding

Some hindi words-

Chunar- Bridal Veil.

Haldi- Turmeric.

Tilak- A vermilion mark worn by a Hindu on forehead.

Akshit and Raina reached Nagar Mension literally bickering all the way.

Long forgotten was Akshit's annoyance.

Long forgotten was Raina's attitude.

After 10 minutes, everyone was ready for the celebration.

A room like structure was made in the garden. Yellow flowers were decorating every place beautifully.

The place where bride and groom would sit were decorated with red and yellow curtains hovering with fairy lights. Whole place was looking very lively.

Then our star couple made their entry. Dia was looking fabulous in her mango coloured lehenga and green floral blouse and her body was beautified by flower jewellery while Gaurav was matching her looks with his colour coordinated kurta payjama. A beautiful smile on their faces were glowing like a 100 watt bulb.

They were made to seat at the couch specially prepared for them. Then Gaurav's mother came and placed the red veil on Dia's head and applied tilak on her forehead. Then she removed the veil and folded it neatly so that it could be used in the wedding.

Then a bowl full of turmeric paste decorated with rose petals were brought.

All the married women gathered around the couple. Mrs. Nagar took some scutch grasses in her hand and dipped them in the bowl. Then she touched it with Dia's feet, then knees, knuckles, shoulders and then head. Same process performed with Gaurav. All ladies did the same.

Then came the friend's turn. Raina came forward and dipped her hands in the bowl, she smirked mischievously. Dia shook her head in No understanding her intentions but Raina smeared whole haldi on her face without any mercy.

All the youngsters including Akshit attacked them with their weapon which was haldi. Dia and Gaurav also picked up Haldi and started counter firing.

Every matured person stepped aside not wanting to be caught up in their haldi fight. They were literally running everywhere screaming and throwing haldi on each other.

Photographer told them for some poses. Dia was made to sit and all friends surrounded her with flower petals in their hand. They sprinkled it on her for a cute photo but Akshit being Akshit he poured haldi water on her head .

Because of that petals stucked to Dia's face. In irritation she started hitting him with her small punches while he ran away for his dear life.

When Dia was about to throw haldi on his face , he pulled Raina in between as a shield resulting all haldi smashed on Raina's face. Dia and Akshit laughed their ass off.

It was late in night, everyone was already asleep because of tiredness of haldi ceremony. Raina entered Dia's room, Dia was packing her things in suitcase, she was going to her new house.

Raina's eye moistened after seeing that. Dia sensed her presence and looked up, she gave her a smile, "Oh Raina?? You..?? Sit, why are you standing there.?"

Raina sat on the bed and asked, "So everything done??"

Dia huffed and sat beside her, "Yeahh..."

"You will also leave me?? Alone?", words escaped her mouth before Raina could think over it.

Dia's head snapped towards her, her eyes were also turning glassy. She was going through the same whirlpool of emotions..

Dia's lips trembled, "Leaving you alone?? Never...."

Now Raina couldn't stop her tears, she sniffed, "But you are leaving me here. How will I live without you?? We never lived a day without each other in this 12 years, now how will I manage without you..??"

Dia was seeing her only family crying like a baby after many years. She pulled Raina in a hug and wrapped her arms around her tightly.

She said, "Who said I am leaving you?? You have to go Jodhpur for six months ,right? After that you are coming to Pune.. You know I have made a special room for my first child.."

Raina stopped crying and raised her head to look at her , she asked, "First child?? Dia?? Are you pregnent..?"

Dia groaned in frustration, "Raina... I am talking about you..All these years, I have taken care of you just like my baby and that you will be. My first baby. And I am just one flight away.. Anyways you have to go"

They heard a laugh, they saw towards the door. Akshit said laughing, "She is your first child?? What about me?? "

Dia said, "You are monkey.."

Akshit sat on the bed and said, "Monkey?? Don't make me remember that word.. You didn't know Dia what happened today.."

Raina sat straight wiping her tears and smiling at his words.

Dia asked, "What happened??"

He shook his head and started narrating whole office fiasco.

By the end, three idiots were laughing their life out.

Dia controlled her laughter and asked, "How did your colleagues reacted? "

Raina shrugged her shoulder, "Don't know. I didn't stay there to watch."

Dia asked her in serious tone, "Raina... You are going to Jodhpur after a week, what about your nightmares??"

Raina's happy face turned into an emotionless one. She looked away. Dia understood the point. But Akshit squeezed her hand and held Raina's face.

He said, "Enough of running away, she is a warrior and she won't stop just because of nightmares. She has to conquer over it. She is going to face her biggest fear."

Raina smiled hesitantly and nodded her head.

Next day, everyone was present in the hall. Marriage was to be completed in the afternoon itself so that our couple could board their flight to their honeymoon destination.

Raina and Akshit was looking after everything. Marriage rituals was going to start soon.

Akshit suddenly whispered in Raina's ear, "Hello beautiful!!!! What a coincidence... We are wearing same coloured cloth."

Raina narrowed her eyes at him. She looked at her pink lehenga and silver full sleeved blouse which she was wearing and his cream coloured kurta payjama and floral pink jacket.

She whacked his head, "We bought our dress from same store, .."

Akshit gave her a sheepish smile.

All the rituals were completed and Dia and Gaurav were legally and spiritually married. They were happy like hell, their happiness knew no limits.

Raina and Akshit hugged the couple.

Raina said, "Guys.... Finally you both are married... Now Gaurav, you will take my Dia away." , she pouted.

Gaurav smiled and hugged her, "Raina... Just come back from Jodhpur, after that you are coming to Pune."

Raina smiled, "It is so generous of you both."

Gaurav said in a stern tone, " Raina... Dare you to think like that... It's not an request, its an order. You will live with us."

Akshit said, "Why she will live with you? This is her house too, she will live here."

Dia was going to say something when Raina stopped them, "Guys... Stop these debate. First let me come back . After six months then we will decide , and you..newly married couple, go and change. You have to reach airport on time."
