Chapter 9

We are not!

Face off

Willow

Chase and I spent the next few hours cuddling in my bed watching movies, sharing a kiss here and there. He meant it when he said he wouldn't push me and it was a relief to be able to just hang out without any expectations, no arguments. It was our own happy bubble for a few hours. I was nearly asleep with my arm slung across Chase's chest when I heard my phone ping. I read the message and groaned.

"Looks like we need to leave. Cass and Olivia are on their way back here, but Robin will be showing up around the same time. I guess they're hanging out here tonight,".

He stretched, sitting up. "Why don't we like her again? Besides the 'leftovers' conversation."

" Robin is the 'friend' who went after my ex after treating me like shit for a week,".

"Ah, right. She's jealous the guy she wanted was with you. Some friend she is. Was. I don't mean to be a dick but have you ever thought she may have been a side piece while you two were- ".

"yup," I got up from the bed, stretching. "So we need to disappear before she gets here. Murder may very well take place if we don't,".

"I'd bail you out," He said, chuckling. "Want to spend the night at my place? I promise I won't try to defile you again if you promise to leave my virginity intact,".

I scoffed. ''Virginity? What ever! But yes, I'll come over,". I rolled my eyes, heading over to my dresser. I stuffed two outfits and a pair of pajamas into my bag along with my phone charger and my makeup bag. I liked having options. I grabbed my camera and laptop just in case I wanted them later before following Chase downstairs. I threw on my black winter coat and black boots, followed by my back pack. Chase carried the electronics for me, such a gentleman.

"Guess we better get going before-" A car door slamming closed cut him short "Too late,".

I let out a frustrated sigh and opened the door. Just as I thought, Robin was here early and parked in the driveway. I had a brief urge to lock the door behind me, but that would have been childish. She was still Cass's friend. I grabbed Chase's out stretched hand as we walked across the yard to avoid her.

"Too good for even a hello now? Never would have thought with the company you keep."

And there went my maturity. I stopped to stare at her. "Coming from the one with standards so low I'd have to dig a hole to find them. Not a fan of cheaters or bitches,".

"Excuse me? The hand you're holding is dirtier than-"

"The inside of Will's mouth? I told him to stay away from fish but he just doesn't listen,"

Her face heated up and she took several steps toward me. " Listen here bitch-"

"No, you fucking listen," I let go of Chase's hand, walking over until I was almost toe to toe with her. "You thought getting with Will right after we broke up wouldn't clue me into the fact that you were fucking him while he was with me?" She looked taken aback, snapping her jaw closed, but I kept going. "Then you thought your fucked up infatuation with him was a good enough reason to treat me like shit while you were moving in on him. You're so pathetic it's sad. You couldn't stand to see me happy when we were friends and it's no different now. Poor Robin, nobody wants the Ravens' puck bunny. You can't stand to see a man interested in anyone but you. Difference is you found a shitty little boy to buy you fancy trinkets and sleep with you to make you feel better about your ugly personality. I found a man who gives a fuck. I'd say try it some time but no self respecting man would get within ten feet of you. Even Callum won't get near you again. You made him want to get tested just by standing too close to him,".

Her face was beat red now and her blue eyes were glassy with unshed tears. I turned on my heel, grabbing Chase's hand again and barely registering Cass's black kia forte pulling in behind Robin. He stared at me with a shocked smile and I called over my shoulder as Chase opened the back door and set my belongings inside.

"By the way you should consider getting tested. Will picked me up from girl's night with lipstick on his collar and I know it wasn't yours, Bitch."

"You're hot as fuck," Chase stated, pulling me in for a lengthy kiss with his hand drifting down to my ass. He winked at me before going around to the driver's seat. I threw my back pack in and hopped in my seat grinning triumphantly. My phone pinged as he started the truck

Olivia: I want the details later, that was fucking awesome. She's going to be riled up all night. And??? Chase???

I laughed, answering: Yes, Chase. Oops? I'll tell you later! That felt sooo good

Olivia was 'friends' with the twins in the sense that she hung out with us when we were all together, but it was pretty obvious that she didn't actually like them. Least of all Robin, and seemingly not at all now. I felt wrong to admit it made me feel pretty good.

We pulled into the driveway where Chase, miles and Callum lived and it appeared they were home. Chase grabbed all of my belongings this time, leading me up to the door and opening it.

"Where have you been all day? Still Sulking abou- Oh! Willow! Thank god. My photographer is back!"

I Laughed as Miles finished rounding the corner and pulled me in for a hug. "Your photographer?" I teased

"You get all my good sides," He said laughing He shook out his sandy hair, something he seemed to do often, almost like it was a compulsion

"Alright, alright. Give her back,".

Miles let me go, and Chase set his hand on my shoulder to steer me the rest of the way into the kitchen where he set my stuff down on the grey granite counter top.

"Hey Willow!" Callum emerged from the living room, giving me a side hug.

"Hey Callum. Uh so I think I might owe you an apology,"

"For what?

By the time Chase finished the story, The two boys were howling. That's when I found out Callum didn't even sleep with her. They got close but with the way she was acting he realized she was only interested in sex. Specifically, sex with hockey players. It was like a kink for her or something. He drank with her, danced with her, but in all honesty could not stand her. They went their separate was much to her dismay. There was lots of whining, even a tear or two. She talked a big game about her time with him when in reality it went nowhere and she went home alone.

"So people think I actually slept with her?" He shuddered. "gross,"

"Yeah, try not to think about that one on the ice. Speaking of which, you coming?" Chase turned to me looking hopeful.

"Yeah, I'll be there,".

"Get my good side!" Miles joked across the island

"You wolves with your "Good sides" I swear you're like teenage girls," I rolled my eyes, bumping Chase's hip with mine.

Around 9pm we arrived to the arena, parked out front this time. I took a deep breath and Chase squeezed my hand. It felt just as stupid to be nervous right now as it did to hide our friendship in the first place but that didn't make me any less anxious. At least this was a home game so Olivia offered to come sit with me while I watched. I intended to only get photos of the first period so I could enjoy the rest of the game.

"You ready?" He asked, shooting me a smile.

"yeah, let's go,".

He grabbed his gear from the truck and his sticks in one hand so he had a free one for me. We made our way into the arena where I convinced myself people were looking when they definitely weren't. They weren't, right?

We held hands through the lobby until it was time to part ways.

"Good luck kiss?"

"You're a simp," I jumped, turning around to see Callum right behind us, grinning at Chase and I.

"And you're single,". He joked.

"Chase! That's mean," I smacked his arm. "Nope, no kiss for you," I turned my head away pointedly with a smile on my face.

"You know a good luck kiss might make it better," Callum joked, pushing his luck.

I let out a half laugh while Chase pulled me into him with a growl. One hand was on the side of my face and suddenly his lips were against mine. His hand slid down to my butt and I turned red instantly "Chase!" I scolded, pulling away "stop it,".

He grinned, picking his gear back up off the floor. I pecked him on the lips once more "Good luck, asshole," I smiled at Calum. "Good luck Fido!" I said cheerily, driving home the 'I'm mad at you' point.

"Stay away from my girl brooks," The words would have been menacing if not for the grin on his face.

"Yeah, yeah. I guess Fido stuck. Fuck me,".

The boys walked away to the dressing rooms and I made my way up the stairs to find my seat. We were the home team once again, so I walked to the corner that would be their end to start then texted Olivia to let her know where I was. She didn't need to show up as early as I did so I sat and waited.

She showed up just as the Zamboni started flooding the ice, throwing herself down into the seat beside me. While we had time, I filled her in on the drama with Robin and had her laughing by the end of it.

"Honestly did she think she could pull that with you? She's known you long enough to see that coming. She made it seem more like you were a derailed psycho who just attacked her. Said as soon as you saw her you just started freaking out,"

I snorted. "Poor Robin,". I mocked.

Music started blaring around the arena, signaling the teams were hitting the ice. I tuned my attention back to the ice, spotting my number 17 on his way to start his stretches. After a minute, Owen skated off to the net, pointing at me on his way over there and giving me a nod. He made a show of sticking his butt out dramatically to set up the pegs so I snapped a few photos before the guys lined up and blocked my view. Callum and Miles were right in front of the glass, so I tapped it, snapping a picture of them together grinning at me.

"Who's the tan one?" Olivia asked. "He's kind of cute,".

"That's Callum. Who didn't actually hook up with Robin after all. She lied about that too,"

"Shocker. He's out of her league."

"He really is,". Good thing He was in Olivia's league

I got some really great shots again tonight, but I didn't even make it through the first quarter before I had to put the camera away. The Wolves were on fire tonight. Chase had already scored two goals, and Owen made some incredible saves. Once I was done taking pictures, we moved to sit above the bench to get a better view.

By third period we were winning 5-2 and it was one of the best games I'd ever seen. Chase scored the fifth goal and nodded to me on his way back to the bench while Olivia and I cheered him on. I was glad he wasn't the type to over celebrate his goals. He accepted fist bumps and gave nods but that's as far as he went. He didn't need anyone to think he was good because he knew he was.

it was Saturday, I invited Olivia to come over to Chase's place while we waited for him to get undressed. There would most likely be celebratory drinks involved without the early morning wakeup call we had last time. Olivia wouldn't be able to drink too much since she had a project to do with Cass the next day, but she was game for a few.

As soon as Chase spotted us across the lobby, Olivia gave him a wave and took off so she could stop at home and drop her car off. He had on his best cocky douchebag smile that I may or may not have secretly loved seeing. He slung an arm around my shoulders and kissed me on the cheek before grabbing my hand.

"Can we pick up Olivia at my house? I invited her to come and hang out," I realized as I said it that I should have asked first. "If that's okay with you. I can tell her never mind. I'm sorry, She-"

"Willow, it's fine. I can pick her up. No big deal,"

"Are you sure? I-"

"Yes I'm sure. I might shower there if that's cool. You could get in with me," He wiggled his eyebrows at me and I blushed, biting down on my lip. I hoped he couldn't tell that I was currently undressing him with my eyes. I had gotten a good enough look when he walked in after a shower last time of the muscles hiding underneath his clothes and a good feel or two, but I had yet to see it up close and the idea practically had my mouth watering.

He held the door open on the way out "Is that a yes?"

"No I am not showering with you while my room mates are home"

He laughed and caught up to me, stripping off his suit jacket on the way to the truck. "So when they're not home?"

"Chase!"

After tossing his gear in the back, he pulled a duffel bag out from under his backseat. Apparently he kept an emergency change of clothes in his truck, just in case. I had to laugh when he told me the reasoning behind it.

"Ah yes, the classic spaghetti before a big game mistake. Classic," I chuckled, reaching over to turn up the radio. I made that mistake once, though I was lucky enough to keep it down instead of puking all over myself and having to sit in it like he did.

I held his hand, quietly singing along to the radio on the drive home. When we got inside, Olivia was leaning against the island with a twisted tea in her hand, radio up with her phone in her hand. She changed her clothes into tight black jeans and a cropped beige v neck sweater with her dirty blonde hair hanging loose.

"No track pants?" I asked teasingly, suspicious she was changing her clothes because Callum was going to be there.

She rolled her eyes at me and I smiled, pulling Chase up the stairs and to the bathroom. As I turned to leave, he yanked me back and locked the door.

"Chase for the last time I am not taking-"

He cut me off with a chaste kiss. "Shh. I know," He pecked my lips again. "That doesn't mean we can't make out,".

"Hmmm I don't know,". I pretended to think about it, looking up at the ceiling.

Suddenly I was pressed up against the door with his hands on my hips. He ducked his head and slanted his lips across mine. I didn't stand a chance. I sighed, granting his tongue access and wrapping my arms around him. He slid his hands down and lifted me up. I gasped and locked my legs around him.

"We don't have to go any further,". He said, pulling back.

"It's not that, it's- I didn't think you could hold me up,"

He kissed me again. "You date the wrong men,". He stated, grinding into me.

I nodded in agreement, tangling one hand in his hair. He let out a quiet moan and I pulled harder, deepening the kiss. One hand was around my lower back, the other one snaked up to fist the hair at the nape of my neck. He carried me over to the counter beside the sink and set me down. My hands went to his tie, tugging it loose before moving on to the buttons. Getting braver, I tugged his bottom lip between my teeth. I had the buttons undone in no time and pushed the material off his shoulders. He groaned when my hands started roaming over his bear chest and put his head in the crook of my neck, biting down.

"Are you like this after every game?" I asked, breathing heavily

"Maybe," He rasped. He placed open mouthed kisses up to my ear, one hand palming my butt while the other traced its way to my breast.

There was a knock at the door adjoining to Cass's room that had us both jumping back in surprise.

"Willow are you almost done? I need my straightener,"

"Sorry," Chase responded at the same time I did and I smacked his arm

"Oh. Shit. I'm sorry, I didn't know Chase was here. Never mind I'll wait,".

Chase laughed and I smacked him again. My face an ungodly shade of red. "One sec,". I hopped off the counter and grabbed the flat iron from the drawer, opening the door just enough to hand it through.

"Just so you know we aren-"

"We're having shower sex!" Chase yelled over me

"We are not!" I yelled. I could hear Cass laughing through the door and I groaned in frustration. "We're not!" I gave Chase a dirty look, trying not to check him out while he undid his belt. "I hate you so much right now,"

"Didn't seem like it while you were moaning for me, " He lowered his tone and spoke quietly. That may have been hotter than kissing him. Maybe.

I bit my lip, intentionally dragging my eyes slowly down his body. He reached for me, but I ducked away from him and made it out the door, slamming it behind me. I smiled as he groaned in frustration. It was his turn to feel bothered.
