Chapter 75

Claimed by my Brother’s Best Friends (Alyssa)

Alyssa Inside the elevator, the déjà vu feeling creeps back in. I look around, trying to figure out where I've seen something like this before.

Isaac's law firm? No.

"Alyssa," Gray's voice snaps me out of it, and when I turn to look at him, for a split-second, I swear I see him as a kid, standing in exact same spot—

nine, maybe ten years old.

What the hell?

"Why are you staring at me like that?" he asks, raising a brow.

I shake my head, still freaked out. "Oh, nothing," I mumble, trying to ignore the strange sensation crawling under my skin.

How have I been here before?

His gaze narrows, but he lets it go. "I hope you weren't too afraid down there."

I shrug. "Nope. I put together a gun in like thirty seconds, so I think they were actually somewhat impressed."

From the corner of my eye, I see Niko smirk.

A shadow crosses Gray's face, but he only hums in response. "Do you know why I wanted you here today?"

"To tell you how ridiculous you look wearing these suits every day?" I tease, glancing at the black suit he's wearing. "Did I miss the memo that you're running the mafia now?"

"Ha ha," he deadpans, his expression unamused. "Anyway, we need to talk about Isaac."

The smile drops right off my face. "What about him?" I ask, my voice suddenly small.

The elevator doors slide open, and he gestures for me to walk out first. I move past the guys without looking at them, scared that if I do, I might give away something. Like the reason why I'm so deliciously sore between my legs.

I walk right into the office as if I already know where it is.

Okay, this is getting freakier by the second.

But we'll come back to that later. For now, I need to know what he wants to talk about regarding my husband.

I sit on the outer side of Gray's desk, Niko beside me with Zuri, King leaning against the wall, and Mason standing at the door.

Gray sits down in his chair, his eyes locking with mine. "Now, back to what we were talking about...before I show you anything, I need to ask you something."

My pulse races, the tension in his voice twisting knots in my gut.

He suddenly looks uncomfortable. He opens his desk drawer and pops a pill into his mouth, downing it with whiskey.

"What was that?" I ask, frowning at him.

"Xanax."

I snatch the glass out of his hand. "You know you're not supposed to mix alcohol with that, right? And it's like 10 AM!"

Instead of being angry, he only laughs, but the sound is hollow. "You might change your mind about that in a minute."

"Why?"

Gray rubs a hand over his face. "Did you um...did you...fuck. This is harder than I thought it'd be."

My eyebrows pinch together. "Are you having a stroke right now?"

"No, I'm just trying not to barf." He takes a deep breath before asking slowly. "Did you lose your virginity on your wedding night?"

"What the hell kind of question is that, Gray?" I know I sound defensive, but he's just asked me something incredibly personal that isn't his fucking business.

He doesn't blink, his eyes narrowing like he already knows the answer. "You didn't, did you?"

I freeze, heat crawling up my neck.

"Do you want them to leave?" He nods towards the guys, like he actually thinks they're the reason I'm not answering.

I shake my head quickly. "No, I just don't want to talk about this."

My chest is heaving, my whole body hot with humiliation and rage. I wish the floor would just open and swallow me up right now.

Gray's eyes soften slightly. "Trust me, this is uncomfortable for me too, but I wouldn't ask if it wasn't important."
