Chapter 85
Saving The Abandoned Empress
85 Chapter 85 ~ âBelieveâ
Eleanoraâs words made Cathain dumbstruck and he got distracted from maintaining his magic to keep his fake appearance.
Under the shiny moon light and cold night breeze, Ainâs blonde hair changed into Cathainâs Black hair as his silver eyes changed into bloody red eyes again.
Seeing his bloody red eyes again, Eleanora felt heavy in her heart and sneered.
âHeh... You still want to deny it? Your highness the crown prince?â
Eleanora felt funny. She fall for the same guy twice.
âIs it also a coincidence for a merchant to have the same red eyes and black hair of the imperial family members?â
Cathain couldnât hear anything Eleanora was saying and felt like he was struck by lightings.
His grip over Eleanoraâs hand started to tremble.
âI loved you, Ain.â
.....
âAin...â
âShe loves Ain but not Cathain...â
âNot Cathain...â
âShe hates Cathain...â
âShe will never love me...â
Different kind of negative words started to ring in Cathainâs ear, which he couldnât bear to hear anymore.
Eleanora also didnât knew why she said that she loved Ain; but it was kind of true. She felt like Ain was everything she needed and wanted in the past Cathain.
She felt safe, happy and moreover she didnât needed to try hard to get along with Ain. She could share her thoughts and opinions openly with him.
Thus to Eleanora, if it was Ain then she could spent the rest of her life with him.
At least Ain understood her...
Even if she didnât loved him the way she loved the past Cathain, but she knew she wouldnât meet her tragic ending if she stays with Ain.
She was comfortable with Ain... she felt her heart racing for him, she trusted him...
In the end she got betrayed again.
Eleanora tried to shook off her hands from his grip but the more she tried the more firm his grip become.
At one point, Cathain pulled her into his embrace once again and hugged her tightly.
Eleanora got angry and punched his chest a few times to get away. She was not only angry but also sad.
âLet go of me! You Liar!â
âEle... Listen to me, Please.â
âNo! I wonât! Let me go!â
âEven after i asked you about your identity you still stayed silent. In that case, there is nothing to talk between us.â
âEle... I was just afraid that you would push me away right you are doing it now. I just wanted to stay closer with you.â
Cathain spoke in a anxious voice. Eleanoraâs reaction was something he never imagined.
Who would think that she would fall for Ain, a mere commoner where she was engaged to the next emperor?
âBut you still lied to me till the end... deceived me.â
Eleanora spoke in a cold voice and used all her strength to push away Cathain.
As Cathain was emotionally unstable, Eleanora succeed in pushing him away.
âI will get going now, Crown Prince. I will pretend like nothing happened today.â
Right after speaking, Eleanora turned away to leave the balcony but to her surprise, she suddenly heard a low sound of something dropping.
She looked back and found Cathain fall on his knees to kneel down infront of her.
Eleanoraâs eyes widened in shock.
âI was wrong. I really didnât meant to hide it from you, Ele... please believe me.â
âAin- Your highness!!â
Before this, Cathain was just a normal friend to Eleanora whom she could hit and rebuke but now infront of her is the crown prince of the empire.
How dare a ducal daughter make the crown prince of the empire who is no less then their emperor kneel down infront of her?
âI knew how afraid you was of me... At first i didnât wanted to use this trick but later when i saw you wasnât afraid of âAinâ at all... i become greedy to stay by your side, even if it was lying.â
Eleanora felt heartache as she heard his words.
Just how did things turned out to be like this? Why are they like this now?
âI couldnât tell you the truth because i was scared that you might leave me once you know the truth and who i really was.â
Cathainâs head was hanging low, so even if Eleanora couldnât see his expression but from his voice, it was sure that he was hurting very much as he spoke.
âPlease reconsider our engagement, Ele... Let me protect you for the rest of your life...â
Cathain spoke in a sorrowful voice as he was going to bow down infront of Eleanora but she stopped him.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
âAin! Donât do that! Stand up!â
Eleanora was going to grab his shoulders but Cathain took her hands in his palm as he finally looked up to meet her blue eyes with his tears filled red eyes.
âPlease... Donât run away from me anymore, Ele.â
Eleanoraâs eyes widened in shock as she finally saw Cathainâs face.
âH-He is crying? Because of me?â
âPlease forgive me, Ele... but donât turn your back on me anymore.â
Cathain canât bear to see Eleanora turning away from him anymore. It really hurted and pierced his heart into pieces.
âPlease believe me, Ele.â
âPlease believe me, Your Majesty!â
Eleanora found her past self in the current Cathain again. She kneeled down and begged to him for believe her that day.
She held all her hopes into him to believe that she didnât did anything to harm Jena or their baby.
She was backing off quietly.
But that day, he didnât believed her. How is she different from the past Cathain in any way?
She is treating the current Cathain, who did nothing wrong but still suffering for the sins he never did.
Like how the past Eleanora suffered.
How good it would be if their was no past between them and the past Eleanora who loved him and the current Cathain who loves her would meet?
They would fall in love and live happily.
And if the past Cathain and the current her could meet, she could hate and get her revenge on him without any guilt.
âWhy are you doing this now?â
âWhy?!â
âI donât know what part of his words are true... I donât want to know what is happening anymore.â
âAm feeling so messed up... infront of me is the guy who saved me and accompanied me for three years and also the guy who had neglected me for twelve years, then killed me.â
âHow am i supposed to trust you?!â
âHow can i love you again?!â
âI should keep on hating you!â
âBut i also canât seem to do that properly...â
Then Eleanora felt her tears pouring out from her eyes as she unconsciously kneeled down infront of Cathain too.
âI donât know anything... I donât know...â
âEle, Donât cry....â
Cathain stroked her cheeks with his hands as he pulled her face closer too him to rest his forehead against hers.
Eleanora weakly grabbed his hands as she closed her eyes, because her tears seem to not stopping.
.....
Their breathe mingled with each otherâs and Cathain closed his eyes too.
âJust trust me and leave everything up to me. I donât clearly know what really happened in the past but i want you to just think of the present me and our present life...â
Cathain paused in his words and both of them slowly opened their eyes too meet each otherâs.
âCan you please give the present me a chance to love you, Ele?â
Eleanora didnât replied and kept staring at his gentle eyes which was fill with despair and longing.
âIf Ain is the past Cathain who killed me... can i still trust him?â
Eleanora couldnât understand her heart or what she exactly wanted.
âPush me away if you donât want this and if you donât...â
Cathain spoke in a low but firm voice and before Eleanora could react to his words, she felt his cold lips on hers.
âMmh-â
Eleanora eyes widened in surprise and her grip over Cathainâs wrist tightened.
She never saw Cathain up so close. They had accidentally kissed once, when they was in the carriage but this was the first time that they really kissed.
Eleanora could see Cathainâs long lashes as he had his eyes closed.
His lips didnât moved much, he just gently kept his lips on hers.
His gentleness made Eleanora wanted to trust him once again... forgetting about the nightmare she had about him.
Cathain slowly moved away his lips away from hers as he cupped her face in his hands.
âGive me a chance to prove myself, okay?â
Cathain spoke and Eleanora still kept silent as she didnât knew what to say.
She couldnât push him away or accept him.
Just what is she supposed to do?
Cathain took her into his embrace and hugged her tightly as he walked into her bedroom while carrying her intk his arms.
He gently put her down on the bed and tucked her in the blanket.
âSleep. I will leave after you sleep, Donât worry.â
Cathain gently stroked her hair like he used to do it as Ain.
Tonight was quite heavy for Eleanora, so she soon fall asleep.
Seeing her sleeping soundly, Cathain smiled at her and kissed her forehead.
âGoodnight, My empress.â
