The Charming Ex-Wife ( Lysander and Josiah ) Online Novel
Chapter 116 I Have No Husband
Harryâs face fell immediately, and he waved his hands in haste. âNo, thatâs not what I meant. Perhaps I misspoke. Lysander, please donât misunderstand.â
âWhat are you afraid of her for? Sheâs just a high school classmate, not your high school principal. Why do you act like a mouse whoâs seen a cat whenever you encounter her?â Lysanne looked at Harry with a disdainful gaze. âAnd youâre the general manager? Josiah despises nothing more than your kind of spineless behavior.â
This remark was indeed directed at Harry.
Harry could only respond with a smile, trying to appease Lysanne. âHow could that be? Iâm merely being polite. Jane, weâve been friends for so many years, and now youâre Mrs. Guerra. As a long-time. friend, I hope you can put in a good word for me with Mr. Guerra about our collaboration this timeâ¦â
Only then did Lysanne feel her pride was restored. She held her chin high as she continued to tease Harry. âWeâve been friends for so many years, I donât mind speaking up for you. But whether Josiah will listen or not, I canât guarantee.â
Harry laughed as he playfully teased her, âThatâs impossible. Everyone in Harborbrook knows that Mr. Guerra spoils his wife the most. He listens to whatever she says.â
Î
ading rumors,
After hearing these words, a contented smile graced Lysanneâs face. âWhoâs been spreading making me sound like a demanding wife?â,
âHow could that be? Mr. Guerra values you greatly, so he canât bear to see you suffer the slightest injustice.â
Harry buttered Lysanne up, and the latter basked in the joy of having a lapdog. By the time they snapped back to reality, there was no one left in front of them.
Harry was somewhat worried. âShe wouldnât actually go and spout off to Mr. Guerra, would she?â
Lysanne scoffed. âShe wouldnât dare.â
âWhy did she leave so quickly?â
âI guess she couldnât bear to hear any more. Really, you should know better. Josiah left her because of me, and yet you insist on telling her how much Josiah loves me. Isnât that like twisting a knife in her heart?â
With a smile, Harry said, âItâs my fault, itâs my fault. After all, weâre old classmates. I should have considered her feelings.â
Lysanne cast him a glance. âDonât worry about Josiah, Iâm confident I can handle him. But you should be more cautious with your father-in-law. Iâve heard from others that he holds Lysander in high regard. If she says something to him, your position as the hospital directorâs son-in-law might not be so
secure.â
Unon hearing those words. Harry couldnât help but chuckle. âHe wouldnât dare.â

Lysanne became intrigued. âSo, do you have leverage over your father-in-law?â
âHis daughter, and his grandchild, arenât they both my best pawn?â Harry said, âHe only has this one daughter, who will spend the rest of her life with me. Any children she has will carry my surname. So, he has to be cordial with me, for the sake of his daughter and grandchild.â
Lysander emerged from the supermarket, carrying two large bags of items.
Taking the bus was no longer a viable option, and even hailing a taxi seemed to be a challenge. In the end, she had no choice but to set her things on the ground and use her phone to call for a ride.
The supermarket wasnât too far from her new home; a mere five-minute drive was all it took to get
there.
When she got out of the car, the driver kindly helped her with the two heavy shopping bags. He also advised, âNext time you have to buy so much, bring your husband along.â
Lysander said, âI donât have a husband.
âHuh? Then who is this person?â
Following the direction the driver pointed, Lysander spotted a familiar figure standing at the base of the apartment block. The man was slowly making his way toward her.
