The Charming ExâWife
Chapter 121 Basic Manners
âYou can think however you like.â Josiahâs voice was muted.
A frown immediately formed on Lysanderâs forehead when she heard that.
She glared at Josiah. What is he trying to do?
Is he throwing a drunken fitt
Or is he intent on making life difficult for me?
When Josiah found himself on the receiving end of her glare, his anger slightly subsided as a touch of reason returned to him. âIt seems to you that anytime Iâm out of your sight, I must be with her anyway.â
Perhaps it was due to Josiahâs excessively nonchalant attitude that Lysanne didnât harbor any doubts this time.
âAll right, twenty minutes, then. Iâll send you my location. Come pick me up.â
Josiah ended the call abruptly and turned off his phone.
At last, it was peaceful.
He slumped wearily onto the couch, exhaling deeply.
âArenât you worried sheâll kick up a fuss when you get back if you just turned off your phone like that?â
Josiah gave a cool smile. âThen, I wonât be going back.â
Lysander quickly asked, âDo you want to stay in a hotel? Should I have Ms. Collins make a reservation for you?â
âLysander, donât worry, I wonât be staying over at your place.â
Having her thoughts exposed, Lysander didnât feel too embarrassed.
She explained, âWhen itâs just a man and a woman alone, itâs better to be cautious.â
Josiah let out a hum from deep within his chest.
âDo you want more water?â
âSure.â
Josiah took a few more small sips of hot water, managing to subdue a good amount of his drunkenness.
Lysander couldnât help but find it amusing. It seems that arguments really do have a way of invigorating the mind.
In the future, when I work the night shift and encounter a drunken ruckus, thereâs no need to go through so much trouble. Iâll just argue with them a bit and itâll sober them up in no time.
Josiah slowly rose to his feet. âGuess Iâll be going, then.â
âAll right, take care.â

Chapter 121 Basic Manners
Josiah chuckled. âIs there really a need for such formalities?â
âItâs in basic manners.â
Josiah slowly nodded. âAll right, Iâll stop bothering you, then.â
âAnd donât bother coming around in the future.â
Josiah gazed at her intensely for a moment, then turned and left.
The door was swiftly slammed shut.
Josiah turned around, looking at the tightly shut door behind him. Thousands of thoughts swirled in his mind, but in the end, all he could do was let out a sigh of helplessness.
When she went to work the next day, Lysander made it her priority to visit Priscilla.
As soon as she entered the office, Lynn sneakily approached her before she could even change her clothes. âDr. Thorne.â
Having hung up her coat, Lysander swapped it for a white lab coat.
âWhatâs the matter?â
âDr. Zieglerâs daughter doesnât have the best taste, does she?â
Lysander had a good grasp of Harryâs character.
However, hearing Lynn say this, she reckoned something must have happened yesterday.
Lysander fastened her buttons before picking up the medical record from the table. As she walked out, she flipped through it. âDid Priscilla have another bleeding episode last night?â
Lynn was her assistant. She accompanied her on her rounds. âYeah, the bleeding was quite severe. I was really sweating bullets when you werenât there.â
Lysander glanced over the medical record. âIt was handled by Dr. Wright?â
âThankfully, Dr. Wright handled it promptly. But Dr. Thorne, I was just about to discuss this matter
with
you.
Lysander halted in her tracks. âKeep going.â
âThe family hasnât even signed off on that surgery you did on Priscilla the day before yesterday and the treatment Dr. Wright gave to her for her bleeding last nightâ
Yesterday, Harry had been so occupied playing the role of a loyal sidekick to Lysanne that he didnât have a spare moment to come to the hospital to sign the papers.
Lysander said, âGet her family to sign the papers as soon as they arrive.â
âTheyâre here.â
Astonished, Lysander asked, âHarry is here?â
âNo, itâs his mother,â Lynn said, looking exasperated. âShe arrived yesterday, insisting that thereâs a folk remedy back home, claiming that drinking it would surely result in having a son.â
âWhat? Are there still people who believe in this in todayâs society?â
Lynn pursed her lips and nodded. âNot long after Priscilla drank it⦠she suffered a severe hemorrhage.â
