Chapter 217 Play A Round With Me

Lysander involuntarily looked toward the crowd not far away.

Lynn’s just going to call someone, so why isn’t she back yet?

“You can stop looking. She already left.”

Adrian took out the balls from the pockets one by one wearily, placed them back on the table, and aligned them with the rack.

“Your girlfriend?”

Adrian explained, “An actress.”

Lysander was still stunned. “That’s pretty impressive. Has she been in any TV shows?”

Adrian glanced at her, laughed resignedly, and said, “Forget it.”

Lysander frowned. “I really don’t understand what you’re saying. What exactly are you trying to say? Just tell me directly.”

Adrian handed her a cue stick on the side. “Play a round with me.”

“I don’t know how.”

Think of this as giving me closure to let go of my obsession.”

Lysander finally understood a bit.

He shoved the cue into her hand, murmuring, “Being an architectural designer isn’t bad, but this industry values experience. Your boyfriend is too young and lacks background, connections, and successful projects. Rashly jumping to a private company now may not necessarily be a good thing.”

Lysander suddenly felt like she was being watched.

Adrian reassured, “You don’t need to be afraid. I bear no ill will. I just really want to understand the kind of person I lost to. I won’t investigate him anymore in the future, so you can rest assured.”

Holding the cue, Lysander also felt a bit down. “I’m sorry.”

“You don’t have to apologize to me, you were firm in rejecting me from the very beginning, not giving me any hope at all. Actually, adults understand what you mean. It’s just that I couldn’t accept it. I thought I still had time to re–enter your heart after you divorced Josiah. I didn’t expect everything to change after you went home once.”

Adrian sighed and lamented, “Timing really is everything. He took advantage of the timing when you returned home, his identity as your neighbor, and your fallout with Josiah. He indeed should succeed.”

Lysander said, “If you want to think of it that way, it’s fine.”

Adria smiled gracefully and said softly. “It’s good that we’ve cleared the air. In the future, we’ll still be partners in the operating room. I hope we continue to work in tandem and save lives together.”

“I really don’t know how.”

“Didn’t Lynn just teach you a moment ago?”

“I might’ve seen it, but that doesn’t mean I’ve mastered it.”

Adrian said, “Fine, then I’ll demonstrate it once more. Watch…”

Adrian’s skills were clearly a notch higher than Lynn’s. Lysander didn’t quite understand what constitutes a standard posture, but when Adrian bent over to aim his cue at the ball, his stance was beautiful.

Unsurprisingly, he pocketed a ball.

“Would you like to try?”

Lysander was just thinking about imitating his posture when she caught two people entering Mirage from the corner of her eye.

The two newcomers stood side by side, the man looked clean and tall, while the woman was petite and gentle. The woman, especially, looked young and cute in a pink dress. She seemed to be just over twenty years old.

“What’s wrong?” Adrian noticed her unusual behavior and followed her gaze, then immediately scoffed.

The woman seemed to be visiting a bar for the first time. She was curious about everything, her big eyes darted around.

Yet, she was somewhat scared at the same time, tightly clutching the arm of the man beside her, almost as if she was holding it in her arms.
