Her tone was pleading, clearly showing that she was backing down and asking Josiah for his help to smooth things over.

Josiah didn’t really mind. He simply said. “As long as you’re happy.”

Rina was thrilled. “I’m truly fortunate to know your fiancée. When the time comes for you two to tie the knot, please let me knows I’d love to come to Ecron to attend your wedding. It would also be a perfect opportunity for my husband and I to take our honeymoon trip.”

The color drained from Josiah’s face instantly. His gaze toward Lysanne carried a sharp edge and a clear warning.

Lysanne quickly mediated the situation by saying, “He’s rather busy. We’re not sure when he’ll be free. By the way. Rina, aren’t you wearing your wedding dress today?”

Rina successfully diverted the topic. “Wearing a wedding dress is so overrated, and it’s not even easy to move around in. For my own wedding. I just want my friends to have fun… Oh, right! Let me introduce you to a new friend!”

Initially engrossed in the captivating play, Lysander was caught off guard when Rina suddenly grabbed her arm, pushing her abruptly to the front.

“Lysander, let me introduce my friends to you,” Rina said warmly. Pointing at Lysanne, she continued, “This is my dear friend, Jane. The man next to her is her fiancé, Josiah, Like Adrian, he’s a loyal person, having pursued Jane for many years. Now, they’re finally engaged.”

Lysander lifted her gaze, offering a light chuckle before nodding. “Hello there.”

Yet, the two individuals before her didn’t utter a single word.

Astonished, Lysanne stood frozen in place, unsure of how to react. Josiah, on the other hand, was sporting a cold, thin smile. He asked Lysander in Ecronese, “Did your phone fall into the sea?”

“No.”

“Why didn’t you respond to my calls and messages?”

“I didn’t want to.”

“Instead of returning my calls, you came to the wedding with Adrian?”

It was clear that Josiah was upset. “Did you come here to avoid me, or because you wanted to spend time alone with him?”

“Do you want to hear the truth or a lie?”

At this point, Josiah had lost all traces of a smile on his face. “Where is he? Did he leave you alone to run off to enjoy himself?

“Do you need something from him?”

“What do you think?”

There was a palpable sense of an impending storm about Josiah.

Suddenly, Lysander recalled the story Rufus had shared with her. It was about two people setting out to sea, and in the end, only Josiah returned.

Instantly, she became worried. Her brows furrowed as she said, “Today is Rina’s wedding day. Don’t cause any trouble.”

Josiah’s chest heaved intensely for a moment. He glanced around, noting that there were still people present, then leaned in and whispered to her, “Come find me in the cabin later.”

With an innocent expression, Rina asked, “What are you guys talking about? Jane, do you guys know Lysander?”

Lysanne felt awkward, and she could only vaguely respond, “We do.”

“Oh! It’s indeed a small world. Must be fate, huh?”

“Exactly!”

Josiah then said to Rina, “You two continue your chat. I’ve got some things to take care of. I’ll go in and rest for a bit.”

Rina nodded, teasing him with a playful ambiguity, “All right, then. Lend me your fiancée for a while, okay? I’ll return her to you in the evening, ensuring it won’t interfere with your lovely night together.”

Josiah didn’t pay any mind. He merely shot Lysander a heavy glance, then took the lead and walked into the cabin.
