“You seem like a gentle soul,” Rina said, her hand holding onto Lysander’s. “A girl who could occupy Adrian’s thoughts for so many years must certainly be trustworthy.”

Lysander was at a loss for words.

Rina said, “Paulo is waiting for me outside, so I need to go. I’m leaving it in your hands now. I hope you two get along well.”

Rina then left, leaving Lysander alone in the house with the little white dog in the cage. They looked at each other, each seemingly lost in their own thoughts.

Once the weekend was over, Lysander was occupied with adjusting to her new hospital and position. She was also in the process of house hunting and gradually packing up her things. However, the move would have to wait a bit longer, at least until the weekend after next.

Lysander released it from the cage, and the little white dog seemed to be quite sociable. It first licked her hand as a sign of affection, then promptly began to mark its territory around the living room, quickly spreading its scent in preparation for settling in.

However, with the companionship of this little one, Lysander found life to be considerably more interesting.

She playfully poked its chubby little belly, but it didn’t get upset. Instead, it moved closer to her and began to lick her fingers.

Lysander gently patted its little head. “What a simp.”

“Are you talking about me?” Adrian asked.

Adrian had arrived at some point without notice. Lysander, holding the puppy, stood up and said, “I was talking about the dog.”

Adrian walked over and gently patted the puppy on its head. “Quite adorable.”

The puppy seemed to be naturally sociable, wagging its tail non–stop while nestled in Lysander’s arms.

“Did you buy it?”

Lysander said, “It’s from Rina.”

“She sent it here?”

“Yes. She said she’s pregnant, so she could no longer keep it.”

Adrian didn’t say much about it, merely asking: “Do you want to keep it?”

“I’m about to move out and live on my own, which can be quite lonely. Having a small dog for company wouldn’t be too bad, would it?”

Adrian’s expression remained unchanged when he heard that she was moving out. However, the light int his eyes noticeably dimmed. “Well, you might as well keep it. It can guard the house for you,” he said.

Lysander sighed helplessly and said, “Do I expect it to guard the house? Even if a thief showed up, it would probably just flatter the thief.”

“Josiah has returned to his country.

A sudden remark broke into Lysander’s train of thought.

Adrian continued, “He left with Lysanne.”.

Lysander, holding the dog, went to the living room and said, “That’s his business. Why tell me about it?”
