Chapter 400 Are You Leaving
âOkay, thank you.â
âIâll be waiting for your return, alongside White Coat.â
After hanging up the call, that person just happened to walk past.
Carol was always impeccably made up and dressed in a sharp and professional manner. However, the morning mist in the mountains had given her a slight dewy sheen.
âMrs. Guerra.â
Lysander responded, âI havenât been that for a long time now.â
âApologies, Dr. Thorne. I was in such a rush that it slipped my mind.â
Lysander nodded. âAre you here to see Josiah?â
Carol nodded. âYes.â
She glanced past Carol, spotting a young man behind her. He had an air of refined sophistication about him as if he was wellâread and scholarly.
Noticing her gaze, Carol took the initiative to explain, âThat is Dr. Cody. Iâm taking him to meet with Mr.. Guerra.
âDid Josiah fall ill?â
Carol was somewhat taken aback. âYou⦠donât know?â
âWhat should I have known?â
âMr. Guerraâs burn wounds are already severe, and after getting drenched in the rain, they became seriously infected. He was somewhat delirious by the time he disembarked the plane from Stounia. Upon waking up, he hastily attended to his wounds before rushing to Mrs. Thorneâs ICU. I had intended to bring Dr. Cody over last night to help treat his injuries, but Mr. Guerra said you were already asleep and didnât want to cause a commotion. So, I brought Dr. Cody over first thing in the morningâ¦â
Ms. Collinsâ¦â
Josiah émerged from the elevator.
He arrived in a rush, clad only in the hotelâs bathrobe. When he saw Lysander, his brows furrowed slightly. âYouâre leaving?â
Lysander responded, âI want to go to the hospital for a visit.â
âHold on. Iâll change my clothes and then take you there.â
Before his words fell, Josiah turned and headed toward the direction of the elevator.
Josiah, she called out to him.

âCan you still wear your clothes?â
Josiah paused.
Lysander lightly pursed her lips. âLetâs return to the room first.â
She turned to Carol and said, âLetâs go together.â
Ãpon returning to Josiahâs room, Carol asked Cody to wait in the guest room first.
As soon as Lysander walked through the door, her eyes landed on the manâs shirt casually draped over the back of the couch.
The originally white shirt was now marred with large, blotchy stains at the back.
There was a deep crimson, perhaps even the brown of an ointment.
No wonder he wore his suit jacket all night yesterday. It was to hide the stains on his shirt from his wound.
The ashtray on the coffee table was almost entirely filled with cigarette butts.
Lysander looked up at Josiah, who was standing a meter away from her, showing signs of irritation. âI had quit already, but thereâs been a lot going on lately.â
Lysander didnât respond. Instead, she asked, âShould we stay here or go back to your bedroom?â
Carol was a sharp individual. She quickly said, âDr. Cody came in early this morning and hasnât had breakfast yet. Iâll take him to the kitchen to see whatâs available.â
She quickly knocked on the door, leading Cody out and effortlessly closed the door behind them.
But with great care, the medical kit that Cody brought was placed where Lysander could easily spot it.
In the room, it was just the two of them, and there was no need to retreat to the bedroom at this point.
âTake it off,â Lysander said.
Josiah stared at her for a moment, sighed, and resignedly removed his bathrobe.
Although Lysander had mentally prepared herself, the sight of the wound on his back still took her by
surprise.
Even though she had spent two years rotating through the emergency department, becoming accustomed to all sorts of bloody sights, the scene before her still made her gasp in shock.
