*All right. I’ll go and find him,” Lysander said. Time was of the essence, and she really couldn’t afford to explain why she needed the money.

Howard was busy transferring money to her. He didn’t ask many questions, only advising, “I understand. Unless it’s absolutely necessary, you wouldn’t ask me for this. I’ll transfer three million to you first. Go and get a signature from Josiah. He shouldn’t make a fuss about it.”

Feeling moved, Lysander replied, “Okay”

The three million was already secured, and all that was left was to get Josiah’s signature.

The call connected, but it was his secretary, Carol, who answered. “Ms. Thomme, Mr. Guerra is currently in a meeting. If you have any matters to discuss, you can tell me first. While glancing at her watch, Lysander spoke urgently.

Thirty minutes had already dwindled down to just ten. She hailed a cab to Guerra Group, and then from there, she rushed to Thorne Constructions and Energies to collect money from the finance department. Time was of the essence.

Luckily, Carol agreed to help. “Okay, I’ll go and speak to Mr. Guerra right away. Please wait for my update.”

Not long after the call ended, her phone rang again.

Anxiously, Lysander asked, “Did he agree?”

“Mr. Guerra has agreed,” Carol relayed Josiah’s response in a courteous manner.

At last, Lysander’s anxious heart had somewhat eased.

“He stated that the company is originally the Thorne family’s property, and the money naturally belonged to the Thorne family members. He was merely helping to manage it, and as long as Mr. Thorne agreed, he had no objections. However, he’s now no longer associated with you, Ms. Thorne, and this is the perfect opportunity to return the management rights of the company. He would not interfere with it in the future.

It seemed like Josiah was determined to completely sever ties with her.

“I’m heading over now.” Lysander had no other choice.

The money Howard had promised her arrived promptly. She immediately transferred the three million into Daphne’s account before returning to her lawyer. “I’ve managed to gather three million. You can try transferring it through the bank system first. I’ll need to make another trip to get the rest. Please wait for

me.”

With this amount of money, it shouldn’t be hard to buy some more time?

The lawyer promptly signaled the bank employee behind him to make an attempt.

The other party confirmed the payment had been received over the phone. “It’s true. Everhart Corporation’s outstanding debt is now only twelve million.”

When Lysander arrived at the CEO’s office in Guerra Group, Carol and the company’s legal department had already prepared the necessary documents and were waiting for her.

In the vast office, Josiah was nowhere to be seen.

Lysander looked around, puzzled, and asked, “Has Josiah’s meeting not ended yet?”

Carol had always been kind to her, and this time was no different. She patiently explained, “Ms. Thorne, I’m sorry, but Mr. Guerra left for the airport as soon as the meeting was over. He had to go on an overseas business trip today. This was a prearranged schedule.”

It was clear that he had no intention of seeing her.

However, Lysander had no intention of exposing the truth, nor did she plan to probe further. After adjusting her somewhat hurried breathing, she nodded and said, “All right. I understand. What about the paperwork?”

Carol showed Lysander the documents that Josiah had signed before his departure, then led her to the legal department.

Carol carefully put away the contract and then personally escorted Lysander out of the building. Seeing her about to hail a cab, she didn’t forget to offer, “Let me have my driver take you home.”

No need. I need to go somewhere else,” Lysander gently declined. She then hurried to the nearest bank and promptly transferred twelve million from the company’s account to the Everhart family’s account.

After all was said and done, she finally had a chance to catch her breath. She sat down in the bank’s lounge area and let out a long sigh.

When Daphne called, Lysander had just stepped out of the bank. She expressed her frustration, “Finally, you remembered to return my call. Do you have any idea how worried I’ve been?”

Her response was met with Daphne’s choked sob.

Anxiety immediately surged in Lysander’s heart, “What’s wrong? Why are you crying?

On the other end of the line, Daphne sobbed as she explained, “Lysander, thank you. I’ve received the money and the bank’s notification. Not only is my dad spared from prison, but our company is also saved. I just don’t know how to express my gratitude…”

It turned out that she was crying tears of joy,
