Chapter 465 The Explosive Atmosphere
âSort of
Josiah was struggling to keep his temper in check. âHas the payment for the house been made?â
Seeing that he was unwilling to believe it, Lysander nodded and said, âYes, I completed all the procedures. this morning.â
Josiah laughed. âHow much money did he lend you?â
âTwo million.ââ
âTwo millionâ¦â Josiah licked his teeth, leisurely observing her. âTwo million is enough for you to cook for him.â
Lysander didnât feel the need to be ashamed. She looked at Josiah with a calm demeanor and countered, âAm I not allowed to?â
âOf course you are.â Josiah managed to squeeze out the next few words through gritted teeth. âBut Dr. Thorne, you shouldnât play favorites. Donât forget thereâs someone else who needs your âpersonalâ gratitude as wellâ¦â
Lysander furrowed her brows. âWho?â
âBefore, I was repeatedly coerced by Zachary for your sake. I even handed over the most profitable project of the company to him. Shouldnât you show some sort of gratitude?â
âSince Iâve prepared a whole table of dishes. Dr. Sutton and I canât finish it all. How about I pack some for you?â The look in Lysanderâs eyes was hostile, evidence that she was upset. She cautioned, âHowever, I must remind you as a medical professional that youâre still sick. With your stomach condition, you should avoid getting upset. It would be bad if your condition worsens.â
With a sarcastic laugh, Josiah replied, âThanks for the concern, but my lungs hurt more than my stomach now. I insist on calling on that debt.â
Lysander thought about the lemon butter fish on the table that was getting cold and impatiently asked, âSo, what do you want me to cook for you?â
âSeafood.â
Adrian mentioned. âPerhaps seafood isnât the best choice right now. Itâs generally better to avoid it when your stomach isnât feeling well.â
Josiah glanced at Adrian and asked, âDo you have an objection, Dr. Sutton?â
âNo, Mr. Guerra. Go ahead.â
Lysander said, âSeafood is fine. Once your stomach condition has improved, Iâll find an opportunity to cook it for you.â
âI want it today. I want it now.â
âJosiah, why are you acting like an unreasonable child right now?â

âSo, when he wants gratitude, itâs perfectly justified, but when I do, itâs considered unreasonable? Dr. Thome, are you being biased here?â
Lysander was also getting frustrated. âI didnât prepare any seafood today. Thereâs only one fish in the fridge.â
âWhat kind of fish?â
âCarp.â
âIs carp considered seafood?â Josiah deliberately emphasized the word âsea.â
This man is simply outrageous!
Lysander took a deep breath, attempting to suppress her anger but failing. She ended up laughing out of sheer frustration. âJosiah, since Iâve agreed, I wonât back out. Arenât you afraid that eating seafood now will worsen your condition, or maybe even cause a stomach ulcer on the spot?â
Josiah slightly narrowed his eyes, his aura radiating danger as he said, âAre you cursing me?â
Lysander responded to him. âIâm just speaking from a medical perspective.â
The tension in the atmosphere quickly returned. One could even see sparks flying between the arguing pair.
Josiah was stubborn as a mule. Once he made up his mind, no one could ever change it. He declared on the spot, âLysander, even if it means getting a stomach ulcer, I must have the seafood meal today.â
Adrian watched them for a moment, his face stern as he finally offered a piece of advice, âMr. Guerra, itâs clear that you simply donât want me to have a candlelit dinner with Lysander with all this talk of gastritis and wanting seafood⦠Why go to such lengths? Youâll just end up harming yourself.â
Josiah said rather bluntly, âThis is between Lysander and me. You should mind your own business.â
The three of them were all fully grown adults, yet they were still making a fuss over a seafood meal.
Lysander sighed helplessly.
âAlright, Mr. Guerra, since youâre so eager for seafood, letâs have it. What would you like? Fish, shrimp, or crab? Iâll downstairs and buy it right now so that youâll be satisfied. However, youâll have to bear the consequences after eating. Ms. Lanister, you should call an ambulance later and have them wait downstairs on standby. If anything happens to Mr. Guerra, they can come up immediately and take him away
In response, Josiah didnât react with anger as one might expect. Instead, he seemed surprisingly calm. He pulled out his phone, speaking as if he was afraid she might change her mind. âNo need to trouble yourself. I can order what I want myself. It should be here soon. Dr. Sutton, what would you like? This
mealâs on me.â
He cast a provocative glance at Adrian; his behavior was nothing short of childish. Upon hearing this, Adrian didnât even care to smile back, he simply reiterated. âI donât fancy seafood. A homeâcooked meal by Lysander is more than enough for me.â
It was clear the meal was undoubtedly going to be an eventful one.
Josiah was behaving like a ticking time bomb.

As long as Adrian was there, he would continue making up fuss.
The mere thought of the scene gave Lysander a headache. After a moment of contemplation, she made up her mind. Full of regret, she said to Adrian, âIâm sorry. Iâm afraid I wonât be able to have dinner tonight. You should have it at home. Iâll take care of things here.â
Adrian was understanding.
He said, âDonât worry. Since youâve worked hard on it, I should eat it to not let your efforts go in vain. Your should focus on cooking for Mr. Guerra, as anything between us can be easily resolved. The âpatientâ takes priority.â
Lysander genuinely felt apologetic toward him and softly said, âIâm really sorry.â
âIâm not particularly occupied at the moment. Iâll leave after I help you clean up the dishes. Youâve had a long day, so it would be harsh for you to come home and still have to do housework. Donât worry. Once youâve finished up here, youâll return to a clean and cozy home.â
The words caused Josiah to furrow his brows.
The way Adrian spoke about him, made him sound like a troublesome villain, deliberately making life difficult for the hardworking âcouple.â
âDr. Sutton, you sure have a way with words,â Josiah remarked coldly. âDo you conduct classes on being a master of pretense?â
âYou sure have a sense of humor, Mr. Guerra. You know, you should get some therapy. That way, you wonât always get upset easily and cause trouble for those around you.â
Adrian didnât take the bait. Instead, he stood up and left.
It wasnât until he was standing in the hallway that he suddenly remembered something. He turned back around, bypassed Josiah to enter the living room, and addressed Tiffany who was still standing in her original spot. âMs. Lanister, have you had dinner yet?â
Tiffany had been standing helplessly by the couch for a while, not knowing what to do. When she heard someone talking to her suddenly, she was taken aback. She turned around, asking hesitantly, âDr. Sutton, are you⦠speaking to me?â
The two of them were not familiar with each other at all.
Adrian gave a warm smile, reassuring her, âLysander has cooked quite a lot, and I wonât be able to finish it all by myself. If you donât mind, why donât you join me and give it a taste?â
âIâTiffany glanced hesitantly at Josiah, replying with concern, âI need to stay and take care of Josiah.â
The timid demeanor of the young lady would stir sympathy in anyone who saw her.
Josiah said, âGo ahead. With Dr. Thorne here, Iâll be fine.â
Tiffany trusted Lysander, yet she instinctively glanced toward Josiah. Since she was still worried, she suggested, âWhy donât we go together?â
In Tiffanyâs presence, there was too much to explain.
