The Charming Ex-Wife
Chapter 51 Presumptuous
Lysander and Daphne went their separate ways upon their arrival.
Lysander was responsible for saving them seats, while Daphne went to the front to get a number.
The popular restaurant they visited was an Italian restaurant. The owner had taken care to renovate and decorate the store with a unique European style.
Lysander believed its popularity stemmed from being ideal for photos and check-ins, rather than the quality of the food.
The restaurant boasted classical medieval European architecture, a baroque roof, and an overall magnificent appearance resembling a banquet palace
Plus, the owner was a marketing genius as they had placed a pumpkin carriage at the entrance, attracting many young girls who were eager to take photos with it.
Alas, she was just enjoying the ambiance when a commotion ensued as a group of people surrounded the pumpkin carriage. It seemed they were engaged in a heated dispute.
She was quite a distance away when she heard a shrill yet familiar voice.
âWhy are young girls nowadays so ignorant? Donât they understand that pregnant women have priority?â
A chillingly familiar figure stood sentry behind her.
Although he was as tall as ever, he was also noticeably thinner. Now, he no longer wore the sleeve garter that once gave him a noble and arrogant air. Lysander couldnât help but shoot a glance at his loose sleeve cuff. Heâs probably too emaciated for it now. Itâll fall off if he does wear it.
Lysanne was harshly berating a teenage girl while he stood awkwardly. Eventually, he tugged her awa and said, Thatâs enough.â
âStop pulling me. I will teach these impolite girls a lesson today. The elderly, weak, sick, and pregnant deserve priority wherever they go!â
The young girl argued, âThis isnât a bus or subway. Itâs just a tourist spot for selfies.â
âRespect should be shown to vulnerable groups in any public areas. Speaking of, why were you leaning toward my husband? Heâs married, and Iâm pregnant!
âI didnât!â
âHow dare you deny it? I saw you taking photos of him!â
The young girl, unable to match Lysanneâs unreasonable words, burst into tears. She hastily covered her face and fled the scene.

âI-Iâm sorry,â The young girl stuttered out an apology before fleeing in a panic.
Suddenly, Lysander heard Josiahâs voice, âLysanderâ¦
Lysander quickly walked away without bothering to look back.
Fortunately, the crowd was dense, allowing her to escape without Josiah on her tail.
She curled her lips into a bitter smile once she wriggled her way from the crowd. Josiah was most likely calling Lysanneâs name instead of hers.
After all, his heart and eyes were fixed on the woman he loved. So, how could he have noticed her amidst the bustling crowd?
Lysander, donât be presumptuous.
To make matters worse, she found her seat taken by the time she returned to the waiting lounge.
When Daphne returned and saw her standing, she asked in confusion, âWhy are you standing around? Didnât I ask you to save a seat for me? This restaurant is crowded. We might have to wait for an hour or
two.â
Lysander felt remorseful and explained. âI got distracted around the entrance.â
Daphne inquired, âWhat was it?â
âThere was just some squabble over photo-taking around the pumpkin carriage-
âItâs more than just a mere conflict!â
The couple sitting beside them commented as the woman remarked scathingly. âThat lady is so controlling. Her husband is tall and good-looking. When a young girl tried to take a picture of him, presumably because she found him attractive, the wife went off like a firecracker. She berated the young girl until she started crying! The wife refused to let it go even after the poor girlâs profuse apologies.â
