The Charming Ex-Wife ( Lysander and Josiah ) Online Novel
Chapter 512 Our Care
Daphne grew increasingly annoyed as she dwelled on the matter, shooting daggers at Josiah.
Tension filled the air.

Josiah heard everything, yet showed no intention of retorting. In fact, he didnât even seem fazed, simply gazing in Lysanderâs direction.
Lysander secretly tugged at Daphneâs arm. âItâs not what you think. Iâll explain it all to you in a bit.â
âIs there more to the story?â
âYeah, itâs somewhat complicatedâ
âI didnât touch a single penny of that fifty million, ready to return it to him at any moment. I would never give him the opportunity to blackmail you into doing something youâre unwilling to do.â
âItâs not about the money.â Lysander glanced at Josiah, her tone softening. âDaphne doesnât know about Ms. Lionhartâs situation. Iâll talk to her later.â
He nodded. âSheâs standing up for you. I understand.â
Lysander chuckled drily and nodded as Daphne pulled her aside, whispering in her car, âWhatâs going on between you and Josiah? Did he do anything to you when you went to Apex City?â
Lysander averted her gaze sheepishly. âNo.â
âFigures. I heard his fiancée went with him. He wouldnât dare do anything to you in her presence.â
Lysander hummed in response, frowning. âThings are already pretty chaotic. Whyâd you bring Dr. Sutton here, too?â
Daphne was quite troubled. âI know what you think, but Adrian and I are friends. Itâs fine if you donât accept him, but I canât just sever ties with him over this, can I?â
Lysander thought Daphneâs words made sense. Adrian did help Daphne today, and I have no evidence to prove that he came here for me, nor do I have the right to stop Daphne from interacting with Adrian.

Daphne patted Lysander on the arm reassuringly, âDonât worry, Adrianâs not the relentless type. Youâre still single, so of course heâs hopeful. Iâm sure heâll give up once you find a boyfriend.â
Lysander reluctantly nodded.
Daphne, dropping the matter, played with Aurora instead. âBy the way, whose child is this? Where are her parents?â
None of the people present looked like they had children.
Propping Aurora up, Lysander smiled gently. âSheâs the daughter of Mr. Guerraâs friend. Her mother went hiking and wonât be back for a couple of days, placing her in our care.â
Our. That word echoed in Josiahâs mind, and he arched his brow, his initially indifferent expression giving way to a warm smile much like the thawing of snow in spring.

Daphne gasped in surprise like how Lysander did. âIs her mother not worried? I canât believe she entrusted her adorable baby to someone else. Itâs one thing to leave the baby with you, but to Josiah⦠Does he even know how to take care of a child?â
Lysander chuckled, remembering to ask her about the important matter. âLetâs put the babyâs matter aside. Howâs it going with that trump card you mentioned before? Any new developments?â
Daphne pulled her friend aside, saying mysteriously. âThis is why I came. Besides visiting you, Iâm here to look for someone. Whether I can find them or not, well, thatâs up to luck.â
Lysanderâs interest was piqued. âWho are you looking for? Is she also at the resort?â
Daphne spoke with a hopeful expression. âDo you know about the Lionhart family from Hofcaster? I bet you donât. Theyâre quite influential over there, especially in the venture capital circle. I heard that the Lionhart familyâs young lady has been vacationing here recently, so I thought Iâd try to find her. My grandma had some connections with their familyâs older generation back in the day, so it might come in handy.â
âThe Lionhart family from Hofcaster?â Lysanderâs eyes widened in surprise. What are the odds? I just got to know Nieva, and Daphne came looking for her.
Daphne nodded earnestly. âYeah, but it feels like a long shot. Their familyâs elders have already passed away, and my grandma is not that close to them. Ms. Lionhart might not even know about the older generationâs affairs. I suppose Iâm just clutching at straws by coming here this time.â
With all the information aligning perfectly, it was clear that the Lionhart family Daphne referred to was Nievaâs family.
Lysander couldnât help but sigh. âYou
Daphne was excited. âYouâve seen her?
timing couldnât be worse. If only you had come an hour earlier.â
âThe Ms. Lionhart youâre looking for is Nieva Lionhart, right? Sheâs the mother of the baby,â Lysander said, offering advice. âSheâll probably come back from her hiking trip a few days later. Everhart Corporationâs situation is stable for now, so you donât have to rush. Why donât you wait here for a while?â
There was nothing much she could do. After all, since Daphne was reliant on Nievaâs help, she had no other choice but to wait for her return.
However, Daphne was quite impatient, growing anxious when she learned that Nieva had gone hiking. âHow can I not be worried? Opportunities like this are rare. If I miss it this time, there might not be another chance.â
She suddenly paused, as if remembering something. âThis hotel is owned by Josiah, isnât it? Ms. Lionhart rarely visits Hofcaster, and itâs odd that she suddenly came here and chose to stay in this resort, even entrusting her child to you⦠Did Josiah invite her over?â
Lysander nodded.
Josiah nonchalantly admitted, âMs. Lionhart is indeed my guest.â
âWhy did she suddenly go hiking then?â Daphne exclaimed, âDid you send her away again? Seriously, Josiah, what are you up to?â
Exasperated by her overthinking, Josiah said, âI had no idea you were coming. How could I possibly have

predicted your movements and sent her away before you came?â
Daphne was left without a retort.
Josiah added. âBesides, if I really wanted to sabotage you, I couldâve stopped her from coming altogether. Why would I invite her over just to send her away?â
Daphneâs face flushed. âSo youâre really trying to help me?â
Instead of offering any explanation, Josiah simply shifted his gaze indifferently.
Worried that Daphne would fly into a rage and ruin Josiahâs efforts, Lysander quickly intervened, âMs. Lionhart decided to go hiking herself. Itâs quite beautiful here in the mountains, and she happened to need some time to clear her head. Calm down, will you?â
Daphne clenched her fists, taking a deep breath before saying, âFine, but Iâm only calming down on your
account.
Lysander gave her an out. âThe babyâs here. Keep your voiceâdown, or youâll scare her.â
