Chapter 528
The Charming Ex-Wife ( Lysander and Josiah ) Online Novel
The Charming ExâWife
Chapter 528 Spotting Something Amiss
Josiah approached the bedside, seeing that Aurora had already changed into her little indoor outfit. Aurora- looked as adorable as a moving plush toy, which instantly put him at ease.
Aurora could only lie down at that time, but her arms and legs had already become quite nimble.
Josiah picked up the plushie on the bed to tease her. She reached out to grab it, then without hesitation, tried to put it in her mouth. He quickly snatched it away with sharp eyes and fast hands, then continued to tease her with another type of toy.
The two were having the time of their lives.
After Aurora had her fill of play, Josiah placed the electric wind chime, which would spin at the flick of a switch, above the bed for her to watch. He then sat down by the bed, keeping an eye on Aurora to prevent her from rolling over. With a serious expression, he said, âYou seemed to behave differently toward Tiffany today.â
Lysander didnât plan on hiding it from him. âItâs that obvious?â
Josiah resolutely shook his head. âNo, and Iâm not defending her. I just remember how you used to take care of her, even saying she was a sheltered child and so you donât need to guard against her like you just did.
Lysander said softly, âPeople always change.â
Josiah looked into her eyes and asked, âDid you notice something was off?â
Lysander didnât respond. Instead, she turned around and asked him, âJosiah, answer my question first.â
Seeing her serious expression, Josiah replied in a serious tone, too. âAsk away.â
âIf I were to tell you Tiffany isnât as innocent and harmless as she appears, will you believe me?â
That question sparked a sense of déjà vu in both of them.
That was the underlying cause of their separation and the final straw that broke their already collapsing marriage.
When Lysander asked, she didnât hold any hope, her expression particularly indifferent. âNever mind. Pretend I didnât ask.â
She had long grown accustomed to the idea that without hope, there could be no disappointment.
To her surprise, Josiah stated decisively, âI will.â
Lysander lifted her gaze, looking at him.
Josiah looked at her, his gaze still gentle yet filled with determination. âI believe in you.â
Lysander was momentarily lost in thought, her lips moving faintly as she murmured, âI canât tell if you truly believe or if youâre just pretending.â
The wind chime by the bedside hummed a lullaby, conveniently masking her words.

Josiah couldnât quite catch what she said, only managing to discern a few unclear words from her lip movements. He asked, âWhat did you say?â
âItâs nothing.â Lysander tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, speaking earnestly. âThank you for your trust in me right now, but I canât provide any evidence at the moment, nor can I explain the reasons. I simply made the judgment based on my intuition.â
Immediately, Josiah responded, âItâs all right. Whether you have evidence or not, I believe in you.â
Lysander was somewhat lost in thought, thinking his unyielding trust in her had come too late. Josiah asked her, âWhat are you planning to do about Everhart Corporationâs matter?â
Lysander pondered, âI donât know, so I dare not give advice rashly. However, now that Everhart Corporation has resolved it financial issue, the next most important thing is orders. Without orders, nothing else matters. I will tell Daphne my thoughts and about this matter, and let her make the decision herself.â
Josiah agreed with her decision. âItâs about time Daphne learns how to make decisions herself.â
Lysanderâs gaze darkened slightly as she was still suspicious of Dillon. She planned to seize the opportunity to further investigate Riveron Corporationâs data.
Just at that moment, Aurora opened her mouth, letting out a soft cooing sound. The noise she made seemed as if she was trying to mimic the nursery rhyme that was playing along with the wind chimes.
Even when the adorable child was babbling, they were still incredibly endearing.
In unison, both Josiah and Lysander found themselves looking in the same direction.
Auroraâs speech was genuinely incoherent, a continuous stream of gibberish. However, as Josiah looked over, she happened to mumble a word that sounded like âDaddyâ unclearly.
Her voice was slightly muffled, yet her words carried a cheerful and uplifting tone.
Josiah stood frozen, his gaze fixed solely on Aurora in a daze.
Auroraâs pronunciation wasnât quite accurate yet, but she seemed to have a hard time stopping, continuously repeating a word that sounded like âDaddyâ nonstop.
Josiahâs eyes were slightly tinged with red. âWhat did she just say?â
Lysander replied, âMister.â
âOh, itâs mister.â
âYep.
It was rare for Lysander to see him in such a dazed and distraught state.
âJosiah.â She called out to him, but there was no response.
Josiahâs eyes seemed to forget how to blink. His gaze was so tender it was nearly melting, hinting at some unspoken thoughts.

Lysander was at her witâs end. She had no choice but to call out to him several times. Just as she was about to raise her voice, it was as if he awoke from a dream, slowly lowering his eyelashes.
A small shadow fell across Auroraâs face.
Aurora found it amusing and playfully waved her tiny hand.
Lysander waved back with a soft expression..
When Nieva left, she mentioned that she would be gone for two days. Thus, she should be back by tomorrow. Lysander greatly cherished the time she spent with Aurora.
Josiah gradually recovered from his tranceâlike state, his voice quivering slightly as he said, âI must have misheard just now, I thought she called me âDaddy.â
âAuroraâs pronunciation isnât accurate, but she was addressing you right. She should be calling you
âmister
Josiah was still somewhat taken aback, managing a slight smile. âNo qne taught her, yet somehow she learned how to address people.â
âYeah.âââ
âLysander, at what age do children usually start to call someone âDaddy?â
âIf things go quickly, it could happen at around seven to eight months, but if itâs slower, maybe a little over a year. Either way, itâs normal.â
Josiah fell silent for a moment, seemingly calculating time.
âIfâ¦â Josiahâs Adamâs apple bobbed with difficulty. âShe should be about a year and two months old now, so she should be able to call me âDaddyâ by now.â I should have had a baby calling me this much earlier.
Lysanderâs chest tightened in anxiety, making her breath hitch. She exhaled, reassuringly stating, âIt wonât happen.â
âI know it wonât.â Josiah revealed a bitter smile. âI know.â
Lysander took a deep breath. âWhat I mean is, you miscalculated the pregnancy timeline. When I terminated my pregnancy, the baby was only four weeks along. If the baby was not born prematurely, it would have been born eight months later. As of now, the baby would only be six months old and unable to speak yet.â
âI see,â said Josiah in a hurried tone. âWill a sixâmonthâold start teething yet?â
âProbably.â
âWill they still only drinking milk? Can they eat something else?â
âThey still wonât.â
âEven with teeth, they canât eat?â
Lysander turned around, her voice deep and serious. âA baby that is only half a year old will still breastfeeding. Even though they may have grown teeth, their stomach canât digest other foods vet.â

Josiah nodded.
âWhy are you asking this?â
âItâs nothing.â Josiah gently shook his head. âNext month, when we visit Dawnbreak Church, Iâll bring some baby formula with me.â
Lysander paused for a moment, then nodded. âSure, letâs bring some toys as well.â
âAll right.â
Suddenly, Josiah found himself a bit envious of Elio.
At the very least, Elioâs daughter was real, tangible, and within his reach.
Meanwhile, Josiah had no such reality.
