Chapter 529
The Charming Ex-Wife ( Lysander and Josiah ) Online Novel
Chapter 529 Acting Like A Bolster
âLysander.â Josiah inquired, âWill Nieva agree if I proposed to become the godfather of her baby?â
Lysander replied, âI donât know what kind of relationship you have with Ms. Lionhart.â
âWe donât meet each other often, but weâve been aware of each otherâs existence since childhood. Our relationship is quite decent.
âThen why not wait for Ms. Lionhart to return and ask her?â Lysander suggested, âHowever, while the biological fatherâs presence or absence may seem inconsequential, itâs unalterable in terms of blood relation and legalese.â
Josiah resignedly said, âI know.â
âOr are you saying you want to be Auroraâs stepdad?â
Josiah immediately furrowed his brows in retort, âWhat are you talking about?â
The musical wind chimes were still cheerfully playing nursery rhymes.
After listening carefully for a while, Lysander finally realized why Aurora was saying âDaddy,â or at least an approximation of it.
The wind chime had been softly singing, âDaddyâs dad is called Grandpa, Daddyâs mom is called. Grandmaâ¦â
Josiah had also heard it, though his complexion still held á hint of confusion.
Aurora was still learning how to pronounce the word, and she was getting better at it. âDaddy⦠Daddyâ¦â
That time, it was no longer ambiguous. She was very clearly saying âDaddy.â
Josiah leaned over, gently tapping her soft little face with his finger, and lightly chuckled. âPerhaps you should call âMommy first. Because your biological father might not be too thrilled if he heard you calling him Daddy.â
Lysander let out a long sigh.
The future of Nievaâs and Elioâs marriage
s uncertain. They might continue as a married couple, strangers in all but name, or perhaps Elio, unable to bear the piercing words any longer, would decide to
divorce Nieva.
Regardless of the circumstances, it was inevitable that Auroraâs childhood would be marked by the absence of a fatherâs love.
It seemed as though Josiah had also considered that point. He softly said, âYour initial worries were justified.â
Lysander remained silent.
Yet, both of them understood.
How could such an innocent and adorable child, once she grew up and understood the world better,

Elio was powerful and influential already, so there was no guarantee that other women and children wouldnât appear in his life in the future.
How should Aurora face those women and her halfâsiblings when the time comes?
Just the mere thought of it left Josiah feeling breathless.
He looked toward Lysander, who was carefully sorting out Auroraâs clothes,
She carefully folded the tiny clothes, still carrying the faint scent of milk, and set them aside.
Although she rarely showed it, everyone knew that she was the one who suffered the most.
By the time Josiah managed to detach his thoughts from the past, Aurora had lost interest in the wind chime. She started to reach out her little arms, indicating she wanted to be held.
Josiah took out a fluffy little bird toy from the bag he had brought in. He held it in his hand and wound it
Chirp! Chirp!
Aurora twisted around in Lysanderâs arms, starting to look at the bird with curiosity.
Lysander had not seen that toy before. âIs this also something Ms. Lionhart left behind?â
âI bought this.â Josiah walked over, using a noiseâmaking toy to catch Auroraâs attention, and then he reached out his hand. âJust leave Aurora to me and do whatever you want to do. Just remember what the doctor said. Balance work and restâ
Lysander hesitated. âWhen did you buy this?â
âLast night.â
âWerenât you at the hotel all of last night? Did you leave yesterday?â
âNo,â said Josiah. âI donât feel safe leaving you and Aurora here alone.â
âWhere did you purchase it from, then?â
âOver by the childrenâs playground,â Josiah licked his lips, appearing somewhat stiff. âI bought it from a kid.â
Lysander was taken aback.
âI also bought the lollipop I gave you from him.â
Lysander was utterly speechless. âHow much money did you give him?â
âI didnât have any cash on me, but it seemed like the kid wasnât too interested in money. So, I gave him my collar button instead.â
The collar buttons on Josiahâs attire were worth tens of thousands.
Thus, Lysander thought that perhaps it wouldnât really count as deceiving a child.

Josiah continued, âHowever, while we were dining at the restaurant today, I think I saw him drop the button into the outdoor drainage ditch.â
Lysander didnât know what to say.
-I had already instructed the front desk that if they saw the childâs mother, they would reimburse her with
some money.
Lysander asked, âHow much money did you ask the reception to give to the mother?â
Ten thousand, and all their expenses at the hotel these past few days are covered.â
No words parted from Lysanderâs slips.
Seeing Lysander remained silent, Josiah immediately grew anxious. âShould I ask the front desk to give
more?â
Lysander shook her head. âItâs fine.â
âAll right.â
âI havenât had the time to look at the information Aiden sent over. Iâll go do that now.â
A moment of desolation flashed in Josiahâs eyes, but he still nodded. âAll right.â
Lysander gently pinched Auroraâs tiny hand, softly telling her, âBe a good girl. I will come back to play with you in a bitâ
Initially, there wasnât much happening. However, for some reason, it seemed as though Aurora suddenly understood Lysanderâs words. The baby started to pout as if she was about to cry.
Taking advantage of the situation, Josiah gently grasped Lysanderâs hand. âAurora canât be without you.â
Lysander pulled away from his grasp. âI have work to do, too. Iâve been back from Apex City for quite some time now, and I havenât even glanced at those documents yet.â
âBring it over here, then.â
Lysander didnât reply.
âPerhaps I could bring Aurora to your room?â suggested Josiah. âI promise weâll be quiet. We wonât disturb you at all.â
Lysander glanced at Josiah, then at Aurora, who was reaching out for her, wanting to be held. She bit her lip, remaining still.
Josiah paused for a moment, then said, âLetâs stay at my place. Auroraâs formula, bottles, and clothes are all here. Itâs just more convenient.â
Seeing Lysanderâs hesitation, he immediately stood up and headed out, âIâll go get all the documents for
you.â
Then, he dashed out the door like a gust of wind.
Before long, Josiah returned, holding a stack of documents that Aiden had sent over along with her cun.

He prepared a cup of hot water for her and delivered it to the study within their suite. âYou work in here, and Iâll stay outside with the baby.â
Hesitant for a moment. Lysander eventually decided to enter the study, sitting in front of the desk.
Perhaps due to the rest she had taken earlier, Lysanderâs mind was significantly clearer. She didnât need coffee to keep herself awake, and her thoughts were lucid. She had generally sorted out the employee. situation at Thorne Constructions and Energies.
Josiah was a man of his word. Apart from the occasional light laughter to amuse Aurora, there was no other sound or movement from him.
At half past nine in the evening, Josiah came over and lightly knocked on the door. âItâs time for Aurora to go to bed.â
Just as Lysander was about to watch the recording of the latest summit, her fingers paused in their motion.
Aurora enjoyed being the bolster when sleeping.
She needed someone on both of her sides. Otherwise, she would have trouble sleeping.
When Josiah mentioned that Aurora needed to sleep, it was also a subtle hint to Lysander, asking her to stop working and hit the sack.
