Chapter 53 Not the Only Man on Earth

Lysander was almost dragged by Daphne, who parted the crowd, and rushed to the front row.

When Daphne saw Josiah and Lysanne, she was shocked and turned to look at Lysander, “The interesting spectacle you were talking about were these two?”

Lysander nodded.

Daphne burst into a cold laugh, “Josiah sure is amusing. Didn’t he like this woman for more than twenty years? How come he’s swayed when he meets a woman like you?”

Whispers and murmurs filled the air with everyone around discussing the situation.

Lysanne spoke sternly, “I am pregnant. Don’t any of you care for pregnant women? Let me tell you, I am a lawyer. If anything happens to me in your shop, you will be held responsible!”

The waiter had been scolded to the point of indifference, and explained softly, “Madam, look over there at the waiting area. There are chairs, and I even brought out a sofa for you to sit on. Isn’t that enough?”

“Then why don’t you let me go in and eat? Your problem will be solved.”

“Everyone is queuing up. Look over there, there are people with children, and even those carrying. infants, all waiting in line. We can provide some service while you wait, but the restaurant always has a line. If every pregnant woman or parent with a child were to cut in line, nobody would be able to eat.”

She said to Josiah, “You guys must be newlyweds, right? It’s normal not to understand this. Seafood is a big taboo for pregnant women, so you should advise your wife.”

Josiah, visibly embarrassed, nodded his head, and his gaze happened to meet with Lysander’s, causing him to shudder.

At the moment their eyes met, this time Lysander didn’t avoid it, her gaze indifferent.

Josiah, what are you looking at? Why aren’t you helping me… Lysander frowned unhappily, but immediately changed her expression when she looked in his gaze’s direction.

“Dr. Thorne, what a coincidence.” She smiled insincerely with a sarcastic tone. “I heard from Josiah before that doctors are very busy, so how come you’re free? Or… Did someone tell you that I and Josiah would be here today and you wanted to catch up with an old friend?”

She emphasized the words “old friend” deliberately.

Daphne shielded Lysander and spoke up. “Don’t put this Josiah fellow on a pedestal. He’s not the only man in the world.”
